WWE NXT Recap – 11/22/17: WarGames Recap, Riot vs. Deville; Dunne vs. Gargano for the UK Title

NXT opens with a recap of the events at NXT TakeOver: WarGames from this past Saturday night. We then go into the arena where Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuinness, and Percy Watson welcome us to tonight’s show. McGuinness informs us that we will see exclusive footage from the WarGames Match later tonight, and Ranallo tells us tonight’s main event will be Pete Dunne defending the WWE United Kingdom Championship against Johnny Gargano.

Match #1: Singles Match – Ruby Riot vs. Sonya Deville
They tie up and Deville backs Riot into the corner. Riot turns it around and takes Deville down to the mat. Deville goes behind and delivers a waist-lock take down, but Riot gets free again. Deville keeps the advantage with another waist-lock and then goes for the ankle lock, but Riot rolls free and sweeps Deville’s legs. Riot drops Deville with a few arm drags and then delivers a few kicks. Riot shoves Deville into the ropes, but Deville comes back and kicks Riot’s legs out from under under. Deville goes for the cover, but Riot kicks out at two as we head to a break.
Back from the break, and Deville is still in control and continues to work over Riot’s leg. Riot comes off the ropes and gets a roll-up, but Devills kicks out quickly and then drops Riot with a spine buster. Deville goes for the cover, but Riot kicks out at two. Deville mounts and delivers rights and lefts to Riot. Deville delivers a roundhouse kick and goes for the cover, but Riot kicks out at two again. Deville grabs Riot’s ankle and applies an ankle-bar submission down on the mat. Riot reverses out of it and kicks Deville away. Riot connects with a back elbow and then drives a shoulder into Deville’s midsection. Riot drops Deville with a DDT through the ropes and both women are down.
Riot delivers a few chops to Deville and then drops her with some clotheslines. Riot delivers a few forearm shots and then delivers an STO that sends Deville to the mat. Riot connects with a senton and goes for the cover, but Deville kicks out at two. Deville comes back with a kick and then drives a knee into Riot’s face. Deville delivers a Shining Wizard and then applies a triangle arm-bar. Riot tries to get free, but Deville turns it into an ankle lock submission. Riot gets to the ropes and Deville yells at the referee. Riot comes back and delivers a roundhouse kick to the face and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Ruby Riot.

We take a look back at the match between Aleister Black and The Velveteen Dream from NXT TakeOver: WarGames, which was won by Black. However, after the match, Dream got what he wanted when Black finally said his name. We then take a look back at the match between Lars Sullivan and Kassius Ohno, which was won by Sullivan.

We see an interview with Sullivan after the match. He says he feels pretty good considering he got kicked in the face about fifty times. He says he told everyone since day one, he was going to be the man to go through in NXT and TakeOver was only the beginning. He says he dominated and persevered and his messages to the locker room is that if anyone wants to step in his way, they, too, will be destroyed.

We see Johnny Gargano warming up backstage. He is in tonight’s main event against Pete Dunne. We also see that we will take a look back at the Fatal Four-Way Match between Ember Moon, Nikki Cross, Kairi Sane, and Peyton Royce from TakeOver later tonight, but up next we take a look at the match between Andrade “Cien” Almas and Drew McIntyre.

Back from the break, we take a look back at the Fatal Four-Way Match from TakeOver, which was won by Ember Moon and where she became the new NXT Women’s Champion. We see an interview with Moon from after the match. Moon says it is a dream come true for her and all of her hard work has finally paid off. She says this is only the beginning and says she will continue doing the same thing that she always has. She says she will continue to do what she does day in and day out.

We then take a look at the match between Andrade “Cien” Almas and Drew McIntyre, which was won by Almas and where he became the new NXT Champion. We see an interview with McIntyre after the match. He has an ice bag taped up on his left arm. He says he doesn’t know what is wrong with his arm, but he felt something go in his bicep/elbow area. He says it’s probably not good. He says he is not going to make any excuses and no matter what happens he is coming back and coming for the NXT Championship. Ranallo informs us that the extent of McIntyre’s injury is still not known.

After the break, we will take an exclusive look at the WarGames Match from this past Saturday.

Back from the break, we see a confrontation between The Street Profits and the team of Tino Sabbatelli and Riddick Moss from outside the arena. The Street Profits and the crowd run Sabbatelli and Moss off. We then see that the two teams will finally meet up next week. We also see that Peyton Royce and Kairi Sane will go one-on-one next week.

We take a look back at the WarGames Match from TakeOver, which was won by The Undisputed ERA. We then take an exclusive look after the match and see SAnitY walking backstage, and then The Undisputed ERA and Cole says they run NXT now.

We see Pete Dunne warming up for the main event as we head to a break.

Match #2: WWE United Kingdom Championship Match – Pete Dunne (c) vs. Johnny Gargano
They exchange wrist-locks and Dunne takes Gargano down to the mat. Dunne applies a front face-lock, but Gargano gets free and takes Dunne down to the mat with a side headlock take down. Both men get up quickly and Dunne drops Gargano with a shot to the face. Dunne clubs Gargano in the back and then delivers a chop in the corner. Gargano comes back and drops Dunne with a hurricanrana and Dunne rolls to the floor. Gargano kicks Dunne in the face and takes him down with a cannonball senton from the apron. Gargano goes for the tornado DDT on the outside, but Dunne counters and slams Gargano down onto the ring apron as we head to a break.
Back from the break, Dunne is in control of Gargano in the ring. Dunne applies a wrist-lock and separates Gargano’s fingers away from each other. Dunne goes back to the hold and then applies a body scissors hold as well. Gargano counters and suplexes Dunne into the turnbuckles. Gargano delivers a few chops to Dunne and kicks him in the side of the face. Gargano connects with the spear through the ropes and goes for the cover, but Dunne kicks out at two. Dunne rolls to the floor and Gargano takes him out with a suicide dive DDT on the floor. Gargano tosses Dunne back into the ring and goes for the slingshot DDT, but Dunne catches him and slams him down to the mat with an X-plex. Dunne goes for the cover, but Gargano kicks out at two.
Dunne continues to work over Dunne and goes for the Bitter End, but Gargano counters and drives Dunne to the mat with a spike DDT. Gargano takes Dunne down with a bulldog and then locks in the Gargano Escape. Dunne gets free and slams Gargano to the mat, but Gargano comes right back and takes Dunne down to the mat as well and both men are down. Gargano finds Dunne’s mouthguard on the mat and then kicks him in the face when he realizes Dunne isn’t wearing it. Gargano goes for the cover, but Dunne kicks out at two. Dunne comes back with a right hand and Gargano comes back with a series of his own. Gargano goes for the spear through the ropes again, but Dunne catches him with a forearm shot. Dunne plants Gargano with the Bitter End and gets the pin fall.
Winner and still WWE United Kingdom Champion: Pete Dunne.
