4/12/17 NXT Recap: Black, #DIY, Riot in Action; McIntyre vs. Lorcan; Nakamura Says Farewell

We are welcomed to NXT by a new opening video and a new song. We go into the NXT Arena at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, and Tom Phillips, Percy Watson, and Nigel McGuinness welcome us to the show.

Match #1: Aleister Black vs. Corey Hollis
Hollis runs across the ring, but Black catches him with the Black Mass kick and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Aleister Black.

We take a look back to last week’s Smackdown Live to revisit the debut of Tye Dillinger. We then see an interview with Dillinger. He says this is what he has been working fifteen years for. He says he still has some unfinished business in NXT and he says he will go one-on-one with Eric Young next week and it will be inside of a steel cage.

We see that Drew McIntyre will go one-on-one with Oney Lorcan in tonight’s main event and that #DIY will also be in action. We are informed that Shinsuke Nakamura’s NXT farewell will take place tonight as well.

Match #2: #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) vs. Dylan Miley and Michael Blaze
Ciampa and Miley start the match. Ciampa applies a side headlock and goes for a take down, but Miley powers out and drops Ciampa with a shoulder tackle. Miley picks Ciampa up, but Ciampa gets free and tags in Gargano. Gargano tries to slingshot in, but Miley catches him. Miley drops Gargano with a delayed vertical suplex. Blaze tags in and delivers an uppercut to Gargano. Blaze delivers a series of right hands to Gargano in the corner. Blaze sends Gargano to the opposite corner and charges, but Gargano counters and drops Blaze with a neck-breaker. Gargano delivers a chop to Blaze and tags in Ciampa. Ciampa and Gargano double dropkick Blaze and send Miley to the floor. Gargano and Ciampa kick Blaze in the head and Gargano gets the pin fall.
Winners: #DIY.
After the match, Miley attacks Blaze and slams him down to the mat a few times. Miley delivers a back-breaker and then power slams Blaze down to the mat again before heading to the back.

We get an exclusive interview with Ember Moon. Ember says NXT TakeOver: Orlando was supposed to be her moment and her opportunity to show the world that she could do anything. She says it was her destiny to be the one to defeat Asuka. She says that’s where it all went wrong. She says that’s where Asuka proved that she will do anything to keep the NXT Women’s Championship. Ember says just as Asuka was her first defeat, she will be Asuka’s and she will be the next NXT Women’s Champion.

We see that Ruby Riot will be in action up next.

We are reminded that Eric Young and Tye Dillinger will go one-on-one inside of a steel cage next week.

Match #3: Ruby Riot vs. Kimberly Frankele
They tie up and Kimberly takes Ruby down with an arm drag and then decks her with a right hand. Kimberly takes Ruby to the corner and delivers a few right hands. Kimberly charges, but Ruby counters with a boot to the face and then drops Kimberly with a clothesline. Nikki Cross appears on the outside and distracts Ruby. Kimberly drops Ruby with a back-breaker and goes for the cover, but Ruby kicks out at two. Kimberly kicks Ruby in the back and slams her into the corner. Kimberly chops Ruby a few times, but Ruby counters with chops of her own. Ruby drops Kimberly with a few clotheslines and then a dropkick. Ruby charges at Kimberly and drives her face first into the turnbuckle. Ruby drops Kimberly with a Pele Kick and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Ruby Riot.
After the match, Ruby and Nikki stare each other down as Nikki backs up the entrance ramp before going to the back.

We are reminded that Drew McIntyre and Oney Lorcan will go one-on-one, and that match is up next.

We see a video hype package for the NXT Tag Team Champions, The Authors of Pain.

We see Billie Kay and Peyton Royce walking around the WWE Performance Center earlier today when they stumble upon Liv Morgan and Aliyah. They make fun of Liv and Aliyah, but Liv shoves Billie into an ice bath.

Match #4: Oney Lorcan vs. Drew McIntyre
McIntyre backs Lorcan into the corner, but the referee breaks them apart. Lorcan applies a side headlock, but McIntyre shoves him into the corner. McIntyre comes back with a big power slam and Lorcan rolls out to the floor. Lorcan gets back into the ring and delivers a couple European uppercuts that send McIntyre to the floor. Lorcan launches over the top rope and takes McIntyre out. Lorcan goes up top and dives, but McIntyre catches him and slams him onto the ring apron as we head to a break.
We’re back and McIntyre chops Lorcan in the corner and then tosses him down to the mat with a suplex. McIntyre goes for the cover, but Lorcan kicks out at two. McIntyre chops Lorcan in the corner again, but Lorcan counters with a boot. Lorcan connects with the Blockbuster and goes for the cover, but McIntyre kicks out at two. Lorcan hangs McIntyre upside down in the corner and goes up top, but McIntyre counters and launches Lorcan down to the mat. Lorcan and McIntyre exchange right hands and then McIntyre slams Lorcan down to the mat with an inverted Alabama Slam. McIntyre drops Lorcan with a running big boot and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Drew McIntyre.
After the match, McIntyre says this is exactly where he needs to be and he has worked hard the past few years building up a reputation. He says he could have signed anywhere in the world. He says he has the raw talent and could put the smackdown on anyone, but he wants to be in NXT.

We see that Shinsuke Nakamura’s NXT farewell will take place up next.

Shinsuke Nakamura’s theme hits and he makes his way to the ring. Nakamura says he came to NXT one year ago. He says he was a champion in Japan, but came to compete with the best in the world. He says he called NXT his home and learned a lot of things from the NXT Superstars, coaches, and the NXT Universe. He says NXT is its own brand and has its own life. He says NXT creates something new and different. He says something he learned something very quickly is that the NXT Universe is crazy. He says NXT has its own unique style and he will always be NXT because “We are NXT!”

As Nakamura walks around the ring, the NXT roster comes to the stage to give him a standing ovation. Nakamura bows to the crowd and leaves the ring. He walks up the ramp and bows to the NXT roster. Finn Balor makes an appearance and shares a hug with Nakamura as NXT comes to a close.
