Bret Hart on being cancer free and wanting to face Kurt Angle

Dec 17, 2016 - by Steve Gerweck

Bret Hart has written a column, via Justin Barrasso at SI.com, and he has announced that he is cancer-free. Hart said, “I can say with great pride and gratitude that I successfully beat prostate cancer.” Hart is looking forward to spending Christmas in Canada and he thanked the fans that prayed for him during his battle with cancer. He noted that the doctor told him that his recovery was a miracle and his health is really good now.

Hart has always been a fan of former WWE and TNA Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle and it’s a shame that we never got to see Angle vs. Hart in WWE. Hart said that there was only one time when he dreamed about wrestling and the dream he had was of a match with Angle. He said that he had Angle in a headlock and then he woke up to realize that it was just a dream. He added, “It would’ve been pretty cool for me to have that one chance to wrestle Kurt Angle one time.”

Hart, who turns 60 in July, says he has mellowed as a grandfather but he is still as competitive as ever and he still likes to draw when he can. However, his wrist surgery from November 2015 cost him the use of right thumb when the surgeon severed a nerve. That has caused him to have trouble holding a pen or signing an autograph.
