11/9/16 NXT Recap: Dusty Classic Semifinals, Ember Moon in Action, Nakamura/Joe Contract Signing

We see the NXT opening video and then go into the NXT Arena at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida where Tom Phillips and Corey Graves welcome us to the show. We see that Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe will have a contract signing later tonight, and then join Charly Caruso who gives us an update on the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament. She informs us that we will see The Authors of Pain vs. #DIY, which took place in Los Angeles, California, later tonight.

Match #1: Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament Semifinal Match: #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) vs. The Authors of Pain (Akam and Rezar) (w/Paul Ellering)
Ciampa and Akam start the match and Akam backs Ciampa into the corner and drives his shoulder into Ciampa’s midsection. Ciampa comes back and applies a side headlock, but Akam sends him off the ropes. Gargano tags in and they both deliver a dropkick to Akam. Gargan connects with another dropkick, but Akam swats him away on another attempt. Akam backs Gargano into the corner and Rezar tags in. Ciampa gets into the ring as well and #DIY gains the advantage. Gargano and Ciampa deliver superkicks and send Akam and Rezar to the floor. Gagrano launches thorugh the ropes, but the Authors catch him. Ciampa goes for a dropkick, but the Authors throw Gargano into Ciampa and #DIY is left lying as we head to a break.
We’re back and Rezar is in control of Gargano in the ring. Rezar chokes Gargano over the top rope and then stands on his head down on the mat. Ellering gets involved and slams Gargano’s face into the apron as the referee is distracted. Rezar goes for the cover, but Gargano kicks out at two. Akam tags in and the Authors double team Gargano down to the mat. Akam goes for the cover, but Gargano kicks out at two. Gargano tries to fight back, but Akam drives him into the corner. Akam delivers a big right hand that sends Gargano down to the mat. Rezar tags in and delivers a clubbing shot to Gargano’s back. Rezar drives his forearm into Gargano’s face, but Gargano comes back with a series of slaps. Rezar slams Gargano into the corner and tags in Akam. Akam grabs Gargano and stretches him out over his shoulder. Rezar tags back in and grabs Gargano and goes for a power slam, but Gargano counters into a DDT. Gargano goes for the tag, but Rezar keeps a hold of him. Gagrano connects with a head-scissors kick and tags in Ciampa. Ciampa delivers a series of right hands and kicks to Rezar and then kicks him in the face. Ciampa comes off the ropes, but Rezar counters with a knee to the midsection. Ciampa comes back with a series of elbows and then slaps and kicks. Ciampa connects with a knee and goes for the German suplex, but Rezar counters and backs Ciampa into the corner. Rezar charges but Ciampa counters and hits the German suplex out of nowhere. Ciampa goes for the cover, but Rezar kicks out at two. Gargano tags in and Ciampa slings him into Rezar, but Rezar counters with a back elbow. Rezar picks up Ciampa and then catches Gargano and delivers a double fall-away slam. Rezar covers Gargano, but Gargano kicks out at two. Akam tags in and he and Rezar go to slam #DIY into each other, but Gargano and Ciampa reverse and go for a double roll-up, but the Authors kick out. The Authors charge at Gargano and Ciampa, but #DIY pull the ropes down and the Authors crash to the floor. Ciampa and Gargano takes the Authors down on the outside again and Ciampa gets back in the apron. Gargano and Ciampa double kick Akam and Gargano goes for the cover, but Ellering distracts the referee.
The Revival emerge from udner the ring and take Gargano out on the floor as Ciampa goes after Ellering. Akam and Rezar hit the Last Chapter on Ciampa and Rezar gets the pin fall.
Winners: The Authors of Pain.
The Authors of Pain advance to the final match, which is at NXT TakeOver: Toronto, which is on Saturday, November 19th.

We see that the other semifinal match, SAnitY vs. TM-61, will take place later tonight.

We see an interview with Tye Dillinger. Dillinger says Bobby Roode broke his words to him and to Dusty Rhodes, and he has made a career out of stabbing people in the back, cheapshots, and lies. Dillinger says there will be no more cheapshots and lies in Toronto. Dillinger says he is going to kicks Roode’s ass all over Toronto. He says Toronto will no longer be known as the home of Bobby Roode, but will be known as the Perfect 10 location.

Match #2: Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament Semifinal Match: SAnitY (Sawyer Fulton and Alexander Wolfe) (w/Nikki Cross and Eric Young) vs. TM-61 (Shane Thorne and Nick Miller)
Fulton and Wolfe attack Thorne and Miller before the match begins and Young and Cross join in on the beat down as well as we head to a break.
We’re back and the bell rings as Wolfe and Thorne are in the ring. Wolfe connects with a big kick and then tags in Fulton. Fulton takes Thorne down with a big uppercut and goes for the cover, but Thorne kicks out at two. Fulton applies a vice grip submission as Miller is still down on the outside from the attack before the match. Fulton takes Thorne to the corner and delivers a sliding headbutt to the midsection. Fulton goes for the cover, but Thorne kicks out at two. Wolfe tags in and he and Fulton double-teams Thorne for a bit. Wolfe kicks Thorne in the head and then grids his boots against Thorne’s face. Wolfe goes for the cover, but Thorne kicks out at two. Wolfe applies a submission in the middle of the ring and Miller gets on the apron. Wolfe knocks Miller back to the floor and then takes Thorne out with a knee. Fulton tags in and he and Wolfe try to double-team Thorne, but Thorne gets out of it and tags in Miller. Miller delivers a forearm and a back-suplex to Wolfe and then drops Fulton with a clothesline. Miller goes for the cover, but Wolfe breaks it up. Miller takes out Wolfe on the apron, but gets taken down by Fulton. Wolfe tags in and he and Fulton try to double-team Miller, but Thorne superkicks Wolfe and Miller rolls up Fulton for the win.
Winners: TM-61.

We join the NXT General Manager, William Regal. He informs us that The Revival will defend their NXT Tag Team Championship against #DIY in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match.

We see that Ember Moon will be in action after the break.

We are reminded that Beartooth’s “Hated” will be one of the official theme songs for NXT TakeOver: Toronto.

We see an interview with Bobby Roode. Roode says Dillinger wants to blame him for everything, but it wasn’t his fault; it was Tye’s fault. He says Dillinger calls himself the “Perfect 10,” but he isn’t even close. Roode says Dillinger is a perfect loser and a perfect failure. Roode says he will make NXT TakeOver….glorious.

Match #3: Rachael Evers vs. Ember Moon
They tie up and Evers shoves Moon away into the corner. Moon takes down Evers and goes for a quick cover, but Evers kicks out. Moon takes Evers down again and gets another roll-up, but Evers kicks out again. Moon takes Evers to the ropes, but Evers holds on. Moon takes Evers down with a head-scissors take down and connects with an elbow. Moon goes for a cross body, but Evers ducks under and Moon hits the mat. Evers takes Moon down with a gut-wrench suplex and goes for the cover, but Moon kicks out at two. Evers delivers a knee to Moon’s spine and then applies a face-lock down on the mat. Evers transitions to another submission, but Moon makes it to her feet. Evers slams Moon down to the mat and delivers a couple slaps. Moon comes back and delivers forearms of her own and kicks Evers in the midsection. Moon delivers a stiff kick to Evers head and then flips into the corner with a clothesline. Moon goes up top and delivers the stunner and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Ember Moon.

We see that the contract signing between Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe is up next.

We see that Andrade “Cien” Almas will go one-on-one with Cedric Alexander on next week’s show.

William Regal is in the ring and he brings out the NXT Champion, Shinsuke Nakamura. He then brings out the number one contender, Samoa Joe. Joe comes to the stage, but turns around and heads backstage. Joe comes back with his won table and sets it up on the stage. Joe says he will conduct his business from the stage. Joe says if he comes to the ring he might be forced to put Nakamura down. Joe says he would be mad too if he were Japan’s greatest ace and then gets beat down by Joe in NXT. Joe says he would be mad too if he got put on a stretcher and was out for a long time. Joe says he will give Nakamura his opportunity for revenge but it won’t be tonight. Joe says Nakamura’s opportunity will be at NXT TakeOver: Toronto. Joe tells Regal to bring him the contract. Regal goes to say something, but Joe cuts him off and tells him, again, to bring the contract. Regal grabs the contract and takes his time, but Joe tells him to hurry up. Regal sets the contract on Joe’s table and Joe signs it. Regal takes the contract back into the ring and Nakamura takes it. Nakamura throws the contract down and attacks all of the security. Nakamura takes out all six guys and power bombs one of them through the table in the ring as Joe looks on. Nakamura signs the contract and throws it down on the security guard. Nakamura’s theme hits as he grabs his title belt. Nakamura and Joe stare each other down as NXT comes to a close.
