UFC Fighters Upset with CM Punk’s UFC 203 Payday

Sep 15, 2016 - by Steve Gerweck

Following his loss at #UFC203 to #MickeyGall, CM Punk received a 500k payday. This rubbed many UFC fighters the wrong way, as they didn’t make nearly as much when they were up and comers in the UFC in their first fights. A few took to Twitter to voice their frustrations. *NOTE* It seems many are frustrated with UFC for making this decision but not Punk himself:

Cat Zingano : CM Punk made 500k on his entry fight while the rest of us pay to fight?! Fuck this! Y’all should be ashamed.
(In response to a fan who told her not to talk after losing her last 2 fights) My accolades prior to @UFC were REAL wresting plus being undefeated. My debut was a #1 contender spot. I made 8k/8k.

Rafael Dos Anjos: Nothing against CM Punk make half million for his mma debut. But I think champs should been make that too, people who dedicated a entire life.

Kelvin Gastelum: Didn’t throw or land a single punch and still banks $500K.

Cris Cyborg: wwe guy 500k Investment paid every1 but fighters 1 time. 500k could build entire fw division. Invest n wmma not the circus payday fighters

Former UFC welterweight Rory MacDonald also commented that it was a joke how much he was paid.

It is worth noting that Gall himself claimed he is NOT upset about being paid 470k less than punk. In an interview on The MMA Hour, Gall stated that Punk is a superstar, and that it doesn’t bother him that he made 30k because that’s just the way it is with a big name like that.
