8/24/16 NXT Recap: Brooklyn Highlights, Dillinger vs. Blake, TM-61 vs. Authors of Pain Main Event

This week’s NXT opens with a video recap of NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II. We then see a brand new opening video for NXT and then we go into the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York where Tom Phillips and Corey Graves welcome us to the show.

Match #1: Tye Dillinger vs. Wesley Blake
They tie up and Blake takes Dillinger down with an arm-drag. They tie up again and Dillinger backs Blake into the corner. Blake comes right back and applies a side-headlock to Dillinger. Dillinger sends Blake to the corner and takes him down with a snap-mare. Blake kicks Dillinger in the midsection and delivers a chop. Blake takes Dillinger to the corner, but Dillinger reverses and delivers chops to Blake in the corner. Blake rakes Dillinger’s eye and slams him into the second turnbuckle as we head to a break.
Back from the break, Blake takes Dillinger down with a clothesline. Blake goes for the cover, but Dillinger kicks out at two. Blake applies a headlock and wrenches Dillinger’s neck to take him down to the mat. Dillinger fights to his feet and delivers a few elbows. Blake sends Dillinger off the ropes, but Dillinger comes back with a roll-up and Blake kicks out at two. Blake comes back and drives a knee into Dillinger’s kidneys and then delivers a back-stabber. Blake goes for the cover, but Dillinger kicks out at two. Bake delivers a scoop slam and then goes up top. Blake goes for a senton, but Dillinger moves and then slams Blake into the turnbuckles. Dillinger drops Blake with a few clotheslines and then slams his head into the turnbuckle. Dillinger stomps down on Blake in the corner and then delivers a back-drop. Dillinger takes Blake down with a side-Russian leg sweep and then stomps down on Blake’s face. Dillinger delivers the Tye-Breaker and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Tye Dillinger.
After the match, we see match highlights and then see Tye Dillinger celebrating his win.

We take a look back at match highlights from Andrade “Cien” Almas vs. Bobby Roode at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II, which saw Bobby Roode get the win. We see a WWE.com interview with Roode. He says no one should be shocked about his win and says Almas is good, but he is not glorious. Roode says he is the glorious one and his win is step one in taking NXT to the next level. He says he is here to make this a better place, a glorious place. He says he has a dinner date with Fortune 500 president’s on Madison Avenue and walks away.

We see that TM-61 will take on The Authors of Pain later tonight and see that we will revisit Asuka vs. Bayley from NXT TakeOver” Brooklyn II after the break.

After the break, we take a look back at the Austin Aries vs. No Way Jose match from TakeOver, which saw Aries get the win. We see an interview with Aries and he says he won the match, but he didn’t get to walk out with his hand held high. He says it is a recurring thing with him, because he got attacked by Baron Corbin, then No Way Jose, and now Hideo Itami. He says people think they are going to make their name at his expense. He says Itami’s long layoff will be nothing compared to when he ends Itami’s career.

We take a look back at match highlights from Asuka vs. Bayley at TakeOver, which saw Asuka retain her NXT Women’s Championship. We seen an exclusive interview with Bayley and she says she thought she had the home court advantage due to her success at the first TakeOver: Brooklyn. She says she is disappointed that it didn’t happen the way she thought it would. Ember Moon walks up and says Bayley took Asuka to the limit and has been amazing since day one in NXT. Ember says she is in NXT because of Bayley and Bayley thanks her and wishes her good luck. We take a look back at this past Monday night when Bayley made her Raw debut.

We are reminded again that TM-61 will take on The Authors of Pain in tonight’s main event, but first we will take a look back at Samoa Joe vs. Shinsuke Nakamura from TakeOver.

Back from the break, we take a look back at the TakeOver match between The Revival and Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. We see an exclusive interview with The Revival. Wilder says they are scientifically proven to be the best tag team in the universe. He says no one can lace their boots and no one can beat them. Dawson says to call all the WWE tag teams and invite them to NXT because they’ve already beaten them all and there is only one thing left for them to do, and they clank their titles together and leave.

We take a look back at the main event from TakeOver, Samoa Joe vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, which saw Nakamura capture the NXT Championship. We then see that Shinsuke Nakamura will be on NXT next week, and then we see a tweet from Samoa Joe confirming he suffered a dislocated jaw during the match.

We see Paul Ellering and The Authors of Pain walking backstage as we head to a break.

We see the “Sanity” promo that we saw at TakeOver: Brooklyn II.

Match #2: TM-61 (Nick Miller and Shane Thorne) vs. The Authors of Pain (Akim and Razar) (w/Paul Ellering)
The teams battle it out before the bell rings and TM-61 are able to send the Authors out to the floor. TM-61 dive to the outside to take the Authors to the floor again and the Ellering calms the Authors down.
The bell rings and one of the Authros and Miller start the match. The Author powers Miller down to the mat, but Miller gets away and tags in Thorne. Thorne connects with a leg lariat in the corner, but the other Author grabs him and slams him shoulder-first into the ring post. Phillips says these two guys are known as Akim and Razar. They toss Thorne around the ring and leave him lying as we head to a break.
Back from the break, the Authors are still in control of Thorne. One of the Authors splashes him in the corner and then goes for the cover, but Thorne kicks out at two. Razar goes for a powerbomb, but Thorne gets free. Thorne connects with an enzuiguri and tags in Miller. Miller delivers some slaps to Razar’s face and then drops him with a clothesline and then an elbow shot. Miller drops Akim to the floor and then goes up top. Miller connects with a cross-body and goes for the cover, but Razar kicks out at two. Miller splashes Razar in the corner and Thorne drops Akim to the floor. Thorne tags in and TM-61 double teams Razar to the mat. Thorne goes for the cover, but Razar kicks out at two. Akim grabs Thorne and pulls him to the outside as Razar slams Miller to the mat. Razar goes for the cover, but Thorne breaks it up. Akim kicks Thorne in the head and then he and Razar slam Miller and Thorne into each other. They toss Thorne to the floor and then deliver a huge clothesline to Miller and get the pin fall.
Winners: The Authors of Pain.
After the match, we see match highlights and then The Authors of Pain stand tall with Paul Ellering as NXT comes to a close.
