The writers suing Mark Wahlberg and DWAYNE ‘THE ROCK’ JOHNSON over their TV show Ballers are demanding $200 million (£142 million) in damages.

Everette Silas and Sherri Littleton filed a lawsuit against the stars, who executive produce the comedy, and other HBO executives in December (15) claiming they stole ideas from their 2007 sports industry project named Off Season.

They claim they had been working with Wahlberg and Johnson and their manager to develop the show, but the deal fell through in 2009. The writers allege they have pinched elements, including the central premise and location, from Off Season for Ballers, which stars Johnson a retired National Football League player-turned-financial manager.

The writers are now demanding $200 million in damages, according to TMZ.com. HBO officials have called the case “frivolous”.

Ballers premiered in 2015 and is set to return for another season this year (16).
