Why WWE Might Be Signing a Former Soccer Star, Unhappy NXT Fans at Full Sail, WWE Attendance

Jul 23, 2015 - by Staff

– Below are recent WWE attendance figures:

* July 17th in Cocoa Beach, FL for NXT drew a sellout of 300 fans
* July 17th in Newark, NJ drew 7,000 fans (John Cena, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns)
* July 18th in Venice, FL for NXT drew 400 fans
* July 18th in Peoria, IL drew 4,000 fans (Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins tour)
* July 18th in Danville, IL drew 3,500 fans (John Cena tour)
* July 19th in St. Louis for WWE Battleground drew 11,000 fans
* July 20th in Kansas City, MO for RAW drew 9,800 fans

– We noted before that WWE NXT coach Robbie Brookside recently tweeted about former German soccer tar Tim Wiese working an upcoming WWE tryout but quickly deleted the tweet. Wiese was actually at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando training last week. Wiese being in Orlando got some mainstream media attention in Germany and while he’s already 33 years old, he does have the size and look that WWE want. WWE is looking to create a German Superstar right now and Wiese could be their man as their other German talent, NXT’s Axel Tischer, isn’t good on promos. Sebastian Hackl, the German TV announcer who is a former wrestler, was also in Orlando last week. Hackl works at the WWE Germany offices as social media editor and helps with the media.

– WWE often has to do heavy editing for NXT episodes due to fan chants but they had to really work on last night’s episode with the return of Finn Balor as NXT Champion. Every reference to the August 22nd “Takeover: Brooklyn” show was booed because it’s taking place in New York City and not at Full Sail University, where the Takeover shows are usually hosted. They also chanted “we deserve it” in regards to Takeover in Brooklyn.
