5/28/15 WWE Smackdown Recap

May 29, 2015 - by Steve Gerweck

Chris Soriano’s WWE SmackDown Recap for the 5/28/15 Broadcast.

Segment 1
-The lunatic fringe, Dean Ambrose, opens Smackdown to talk about what happened on Raw. Roman Reigns gets a great reaction when he’s mentioned, and Ambrose gets a Justin Bieber chant going for Seth Rollins. He will team up with Roman to take on Seth and Kane in tonight’s main event in a tag match we are now seeing for the 500th time this year.

Match 1- The Lucha Dragons def. Cesaro & Tyson Kidd.
The other teams in the Elimination Chamber were serving as lumberjacks for this match. A little chaotic, but a fun match. Nice start to the show.

Match 2- R-Truth def. King Barrett.
It pains me to see R-Truth. So much talent, former TNA world champion and I feel that WWE uses him so wrong. After the match, Sheamus came down and killed them both with Brogue Kicks. Sadly, we had to look at Sheamus and his fashion statement face as well.

Segment 2-
Renee Young interviews Lana backstage. Rusev interrupts and has words with Lana. I wish Lana was around during the Attitude Era. She’d be great in a Bra and Panties match.

Match Number 3- Ryback def. Rusev via DQ.
Lots of chants here – “USA”, “We Want Lana”, “Feed Me More”, etc. I want Lana as well. Wait, I want Lana to feed me. In any event, we see the spot where Rusev injures himself. Totally not Ryback’s fault. When Ryback flips him over the top, it then falls out of his hands. It is Rusev who has to take the fall and he landed the wrong way. Just unfortunate and he will be out for a bit.

Match Number 4- Paige def. Naomi
Paige took out Tamina at ringside with a kick to the face and went on to defeat Naomi with the cradle DDT. I have a crush on Paige. She has my heart. She can scream at me “this is my house” all day.

Segment Number 3-
Michael Cole brings Kevin Owens to the ring (It’s still Kevin Steen to me). He tells Cole he’s been in WWE for two weeks but has been wrestling for 15 years all over the world (Say WHERE you have been wrestling, ROH ROH ROH). Owens talks about John Cena and their match this Sunday. He says Cena has never beaten him (Well of course he has not, since the two have never faced off in a match) and Cena needs to prove something to him. Video footage is shown of Owens destroying Sami Zayn in NXT. Owens says if he did something that bad to someone he cares about, imagine what he will do to Cena. Big match on Sunday, I can’t wait to see it.

Match Number 5- Main Event- Roman Reigns/Dean Ambrose vs. Kane/Seth Rollins via DQ.
Wait, TWO DQ finishes in one show? Vince Russo is back writing? Ambrose comes out first to a great pop then Reigns comes out and gets a HUGE pop. Rollins is out next with Kane and J&J Security(Looks like Kane and Seth Rollins are buddies again, I’m confused). Reigns and Kane start off the match and Rollins sent Ambrose flying off the apron into the barricade. Rollins and Kane are sent out of the ring. Ambrose and Reigns go to attack them and bring them back in. Reigns and Ambrose win via DQ when J&J interfered (when don’t they) after Reigns went to pin Rollins following a Superman Punch. The New Day run down (excuse me, why?) and beat down Ambrose but Reigns takes them all out. Dean and Roman clean house, leaving the New Day laid out. Rollins and Kane beat down Ambrose. Rollins hits a Pedigree on Ambrose (because that is not putting the head in danger, but the curb stomp is banned). Kane and Rollins end SmackDown to boos. Reigns and Ambrose got the biggest pops of the night. We may all see the commercial on TV and know where Roscoe the bed bug is, but we will never know why the New Day interfered in this match. Maybe they beat Vince McMahon in rock, papers, scissors. I’ll see you tomorrow for the TNA Recap.
