Biography

– After emigrating to New York in 1961, Colón began working at a Brooklyn gym, where he met his future trainers, Rocco & Perez
– On February 16, 1966 Colón wrestled his debut match, losing to Bobo Brazil. He was paid $15 to compete
– Whilst competing in mainland North America, Colón was often known as Carlos Belafonte
– In the late 1960’s, Colón competed regularly for the WWWF
– In April 1973, Belafonte & Gino Caruso defeated Michel Martel & Danny Babich to win the NWA Calgary International Tag Team Titles
– In mid-1973, Colón returned to Puerto Rico to form the World Wrestling Council (WWC) alongside Victor Jovica
– On June 1, 1974, Colón & Jose Perez defeated Huracan Castillo & Maravilla to win the WWC North American Tag Team Titles
