Oct 24, 2013 - by Jason Graening

Join the Starman as he covers tonight sort-of live Impact Wrestling broadcast that emanates from the Maverik Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

A video/photo package recapping Bound for Glory is aired, which shows Chris Sabin, Gail Kim and the Bro Mans winning TNA Gold, as well as Kurt Angle declining his induction into the TNA Hall of Fame and losing to Bobby Roode. AJ Styles defying the odds and winning the TNA World Championship from Bully Ray finishes the recap as we hear Dixie Carter saying that he will have to defend the title on Impact tonight.

We head into the Maverik Center in SLC, UT, where the announce team hypes the TNA World Championship rematch and that we will hear from Kurt Angle later on tonight. Dixie Carter’s music then hits as the TNA President makes her way to the ring that has been decked out with a “Welcome Back AJ Styles!” banner, photos of Styles, and his merchandise.

Dixie grabs a microphone and says she may have made a mistake recently, but says that is in the past, and the future is AJ Styles, who overcame all the odds at Bound for Glory. Styles’ music then hits as the new TNA World Champion makes his way to the ring where Dixie says the past six weeks has been all about her motivating Styles to glory. Dixie says she is ready to pay and is going to give him a private dressing room with the best food and champagne before opening a box with watch in it, much like the one she recently gave to Hulk Hogan. A final gift is revealed and it is a new convertible as Dixie asks Styles if it’s time for them to move forward.

Styles says he isn’t buying all of the material things and special treatment she is giving him. Styles says he is more of a truck guy and that he doesn’t want to separate himself from the rest of the guys who built the company. Dixie then goes on to say that she acted out of line when she booked him in a rematch against Bully Ray and says they can leave town tonight as long as he says they will work together. Bully Ray’s music then hits as he comes out to the stage with Brooke and we head into a commercial break.

The show resumes with Bully Ray and Brooke in the ring with Styles and Dixie as Ray says he didn’t travel all the way to Salt Lake City not to get a title shot. Styles steps in and says he won’t go with Dixie and says he didn’t come to Salt Lake City to sit around and do nothing. Styles says he is going to defend the title, like a champion does, and defeat Ray tonight. Ray gets into Styles’ face and says Styles got lucky at Bound for Glory as there is no where a kid like Styles could beat a man like him.

Ray then blames his loss on Earl Hebner and says he kicked out but Hebner kept making the pin count. Ray then says he will beat Styles tonight and take back his TNA World Championship before sending Styles home to his ugly wife and three kids. Styles says Ray should be concerned with his own family in Aces & Eights and says once he defeats Ray tonight, he is going to celebrate with the fans in SLC before asking Ray if he knows who he is. Ray then connects with a sucker punch before beating Styles with an easel that was used to hold up on of the photos.

Ray then clears off the table and sets up for a powerbomb but the lights go out in the Maverik Center. Mr. Anderson’s music then hits as he runs down to the ring and gets into a brawl with Bully Ray. Anderson traps Ray in the corner and hits Ray with a series of strikes before Ray is able to escape the ring. Anderson the soaks up the fans cheers as we head into another commercial break.

Impact returns as we see Anderson still standing in the ring and has a microphone. Anderson says he missed the fans, but he really missed Bully Ray and wonders if Ray missed him. Anderson goes on to say his neck feels great and he has been keeping a close eye on what Ray has been doing over the past couple of months. Anderson says he can tell the people in the back are getting sick and tired of Ray’s antics and asks the fans if they are tired of it.

Dixie Carter then cuts him off and tells security to handcuff Anderson and escort him from the building. Anderson says he hasn’t been arrested in a while and wants to have a little fun and he attacks two of the security guards before offering himself up to the other two. Anderson is then removed from the ring and is escorted to the back. We join the announce team who talks about what just went down over the past 30 minutes and tonight’s huge main event between AJ Styles and Bully Ray for the TNA World Championship. They also talk about Kurt Angle’s emotional weekend and we will hear from him later on during tonight’s show.

A video package highlighting the TNA Knockouts Championship match from Bound for Glory is aired, where we say Gail Kim win the championship with a little help from Lei’d Tapa. Footage of Gail after the match is aired and says she welcomes all challengers. Gail Kim then makes her way to the ring along with Lei’d Tapa for the first match of the night as we head into a commercial break.

Match 1: Gail Kim & Brooke vs. Velvet Sky & ODB
ODB starts off for her team and Gail refuses to get into the ring. ODB then pulls Brooke into the ring and powers her around until Brooke retreats to the floor. ODB goes after Gail, but Brooke pulls ODB out to the floor and beats her down. Brooke then tags Gail into the match and the two begin to make quick tags to wear down ODB. ODB then counters Brooke’s attack and makes a hot tag to Velvet as Gail is also tagged in. Velvet takes Gail down with a head scissors and a neck breaker for a near fall until Brooke breaks it up. ODB then comes in and takes Brooke down as the two roll out to the floor. Gail then goes out to grab a chair and while the referee has his hands full, Lei’d Tapa comes in and knocks out Velvet as Gail comes in and picks up the pin fall.

The announce team then hype tonight’s main event before saying Ethan Carter the Third will make his Impact Wrestling debut after the commercial break.

The Bro Mans are in the locker room, fixing their hair, and gloating about their win at Bound for Glory. They say they are going to have a cele-bro-tion tonight before fixing their hair some more.

Match 2: Ethan Carter III vs. Dewey Barnes
Barnes comes to the ring and tries to get the crowd to rally for him but EC3 quickly takes him down with a slam. EC3 then hits Barnes with a series of strikes before connecting with a big boot to the face. EC3 takes a little too much time showboating as Barnes gets in a few strikes before taking EC3 down with a missile dropkick. EC3 has had enough and takes him down with his modified DDT and picks up the pin fall. After the match, EC3 grabs a microphone and says he is a Carter and the world needs them.

The announce team hype Kurt Angle’s appearance, which will take place after the commercial break.

A video package showing highlights of the match between Sting and Magnus is aired where Magnus made the Icon tap out. After the match, Sting hopes that this wasn’t all in vein and helps Magnus take off. Magnus and Sting were together earlier in the day and Magnus apologizes to Sting for not showing Sting the respect he deserves after the match. Sting says it’s all good and wonders if he was able to pass the torch to Magnus before the two shake hands.

Footage of Kurt Angle’s Hall of Fame induction and Angle turning down the offer is aired. Angle says he will join Sting in the Hall of Fame once he is worthy. Footage of Angle’s match against Bobby Roode is aired where Angle lost the match and refused to be taken out on a stretcher. Angle’s music then hits as he makes his way to the ring. Angle says last weekend was an emotional one for him and says he couldn’t accept the Hall of Fame induction as he has much more to prove.

Angle then turns his attention to his match against Bobby Roode and says he knocked himself out with his own moonsault. Roode’s music then cuts off Angle as he makes his way to the ring and stares down Angle. Roode says the real reason Angle declined the Hall of Fame is because Angle knew he couldn’t beat Roode. Roode says he beat Angle fair and square in the middle of the ring. Roode says two years ago he failed against Angle and that has been eating him alive and now it’s Angle’s turn to have that same feeling.

Angle fires back and says Roode isn’t better than him and challenges Roode to a match right now. Roode takes off his jacket before reminding Angle that he can’t wrestle tonight as he isn’t medically cleared to wrestle due to tearing cartilage in his knee. Roode says he would love to beat Angle once more, but he is not allowed to do so. Angle says Roode is right as he isn’t medically cleared, but the doctor didn’t say he couldn’t fight. Angle begins to nail Roode with punches until security comes out to break it up.

The announce team hypes the TNA World Championship match with AJ Styles defending against Bully Ray. We then see Bully Ray with the remaining members of Aces & Eights as Ray is telling them that Mr. Anderson is selfish and has come back to get his revenge. Ray then tells Garett Bischoff and Knux to go to the jail to make sure Anderson doesn’t post bail, while he goes out to the ring and takes his title back from AJ Styles. Ray tells the two to get the job done as we head into a commercial break.

The announce team again hypes tonight’s main event before we head backstage where Dixie Carter is talking on the phone but her assistant closes the door before we can hear much.

The Bro Mans make their way to the ring where a couple of tables have been set up with champagne and food on one table and a DJ on the other. Robbie E. grabs a microphone and says Sunday night was the biggest night in Bro Man history, but before he can say any more, he is cut off by James Storm and Gunner, who make their way to the ring. Storm orders the DJ out of the ring and helps himself to champagne as Gunner eats the food. Storm says they can keep their skinny jeans but they will have one of the shortest title reigns as they will be taking the titles back next week.

Bad Influence breaks things up as Kazarian says they are the greatest tag team in the world and have started a petition to get a title shot to become the 3-time World Tag Team Champions of the World. Christopher Daniels steps in and says they are celebrating wrong as the should be celebrating with an appletini instead of beer or champagne. Gunner then dumps the appletini in Daniel’s face and the three teams begin to brawl as Eric Young and Joseph Park run out and join in. Daniels takes out Park with a champagne bottle and cuts him open, which gets Park into a rage. Bad Influence and Storm and Gunner leave the ring, as Park takes Jessie Godderz down with a choke slam. Park then paces up the ramp after Bad Influence.

We see AJ Styles and Bully Ray making their way through the backstage area as the TNA World Championship rematch is coming up next.

The announce team hypes the new nonstop social media call Where Action Never Ends. They then hype next week’s Bound for Glory rematch between Kurt Angle and Bobby Roode. We then head to the ring as it’s time for tonight’s main event.

Match 3: Bully Ray vs. AJ Styles (TNA World Championship)
Jeremy Borash is set to handle the formal introductions for this title match but Ray sends Borash out of the ring and does his own introduction. Styles has heard enough and attacks Ray to get this match officially started. Styles has his midsection taped but is able to take Ray down with a picture perfect dropkick. Styles then plays to the crowd too much, as Ray gets a chance to regroup, however, Styles takes Ray down with an enziguri and rolls him up for a near fall. Ray comes back and takes Ray down with a high back drop as Styles crashes down face first into the mat. Ray is in control as we head into a commercial break.

The match continues as Ray is mocking Hulk Hogan’s mannerisms, which gives Styles a chance to regroup, however, they both take each other down with clotheslines. Ray recovers and locks Styles in a bear hug to wear down Styles’ injured midsection before taking Styles down with another back body drop. Ray then misses with an elbow drop as the two make it to their feet and exchange blows until Styles connects with a clothesline and a springboard forearm for a near fall. Styles then tries to pick up Ray, but his midsection is too injured, as Ray picks up Styles and hits a Samoan drop for a near fall.

Ray heads to the middle rope but Styles tries to counter, however, Ray pushes Styles down to the canvas. Ray then tries for a back splash, but Styles rolls out of the way. Styles then tries for a springboard, but Ray rolls out of the way and Styles crashes down to the canvas. Ray then shoves Styles into the referee, which knocks Earl Hebner down to the mat. Styles then puts Ray in the calf killer and makes Ray tap out, but the referee is out. Styles then tries to revive the referee as Ray grabs his chain and nails Styles with it. Ray then takes Styles down with a Diamondcutter and goes for the pin but Styles kicks out. The fans begin a “Let’s go AJ!” chant as Mr. Anderson comes out and prevents Ray from using the chain. Styles then rolls up Ray with a crucifix and picks up the pin fall to get the win and retain the TNA World Championship.

After the match, Anderson, who still has on one handcuff, and Ray fight in the ringside area until referees and security come out to break up the fight. We then see Dixie Carter backstage saying that AJ Styles has gotten her attention and she is making her way to the ring with a contract as we head into a break.

Dixie Carter makes her way to the ring with a contract and a microphone. Dixie says she has been talking to her attorneys all night long and she has a contract for him with more zeroes than he can ever imagine. Dixie says she wants Styles in TNA and wants to put all of the mess behind them and move forward together. Styles looks at the contract and says it’s an amazing contract from a horrible human being, who uses people to pad their own bank account. Styles then wipes his ass with the contract before tossing it on the mat.

Styles goes on to say that Dixie doesn’t respect him, the title, or the fans, and he is going to make her pay by taking the TNA World Championship from her and says he is leaving. Styles takes the keys for the car and leaves the ring and heads backstage with the belt. Styles then gets into the convertible and leaves the arena as Impact Wrestling comes to a close.
