4/19/13 Friday Night Smackdown Recap

Smackdown opens with a recap video of what happened between Alberto Del Rio, Dolph Ziggler, and Jack Swagger from this past Monday’s Raw. It then transitions into the main event preview, which is a tag team match with Randy Orton and Sheamus teaming up to face Mark Henry and The Big Show. We go into the arena in Knoxville, Tennessee, and Michael Cole welcomes us to the show as Fandango’s music hits.

Fandango asks Lilian Garcia if she has ever “Fandango’d” before. He drops her and says she is a terrible dancer. He tries to pronounce his name for her, but Santino Marella interrupts. Marella runs down Fandango and does his own version of Fandangoing. Fandango goes after him, but Marella pulls the ropes down and Fandango tumbles to the outside as we go to a commercial.

Match #1: Fandango vs. Santino Marella
Fandango backs Marella into the corner and delivers a couple of right hands. Fandango slams Marella’s head into the turnbuckle and tosses him to the opposite corner. Marella goes up and over Fandango, but Fandango keeps control and beats Marella down to the mat. Fandango chokes Marella over the middle rope and slams him on the mat again. Fandango delivers a series of right hands and applies a headlock. Marella fights back, but Fandango takes him to the mat again. Marella kicks up and delivers some rights and lefts and takes Fandango down with a hip toss. Marella gets The Cobra, but Fandango reverses and plants Marella with a face-buster and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Fandango.

We go backstage and we see Teddy Long and Booker T arguing again when The Big Show walks up. Booker asks him if he can help him, but Show says he wants to thank Teddy for putting him in a tag match with a partner instead of a Handicap Match. Teddy and Show share a fist bump and Booker glares at Teddy. Teddy goes after Show as Booker stares on.

We see that Kofi Kingston and Wade Barrett will go one-on-one after the commercial break.

Match #2: Champion vs. Champion Match – Kofi Kingston vs. Wade Barrett
They tie up and Barrett backs Kingston into the corner. Kingston fights out and kicks Barrett in the midsection, but Barrett comes back and works over Kingston. Kingston escapes and takes Barrett down with a hurricanrana and gets a two count. Kingston connects with a heel kick and gets another two count. Kingston keeps control and takes Barrett down with a Side-Russian Legsweep and comes off the second rope and gets another two count. Barrett comes back and delivers some right hands and tosses Kingston into the corner. Kingston kicks Barrett in the head, but Barrett comes back and kicks Kingston off the apron to the floor. Barrett goes out after Kingston and slams him into the announce table. Barrett tosses Kingston back into the ring and goes for the cover, but Kingston kicks out at two. Barrett sets Kingston up in the corner and works over his midsection. Barrett gets Kingston back down on the mat and locks in a headlock. Kingston comes back and Barrett shoves him into the corner. Kingston tries to kick Barrett, but Barrett grabs Kingston’s leg and slams him on the mat for a two count. Barrett locks in another headlock, but Kingston fights out. Barrett catches Kingston and slams him down on the mat and goes for the cover, but Kingston kicks out at two and rolls up Barrett and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Kofi Kingston.

We take a look at the feud that is brewing between Mark Henry and Sheamus. We see Henry walking backstage and is stopped for an interview. Sheamus attacks him and spears him through some props backstage. Henry is left lying as we head to commercial.

We go back to Monday’s Raw and revisit the situation and the happenings between Alberto Del Rio, Dolph Ziggler, and Jack Swagger. We then see that Dolph Ziggler will defend the World Heavyweight Championship at Extreme Rules in a Triple Threat Match against Alberto Del Rio and Jack Swagger.

Match #3: Alberto Del Rio (w/Ricardo Rodriguez) vs. Jack Swagger (w/Zeb Colter)
They tie up and it’s a stalemate to start the match. Del Rio goes behind, but Swagger reverses. Del Rio goes for Swagger’s shoulder, but Swagger gets to the ropes. Swagger drives his knee into Del Rio’s midsection and takes him down to the mat. Swagger goes after Del Rio’s bad leg in the corner. Swagger goes to the floor and tries to wrap Del Rio’s knee around the ring post, but Del Rio kicks him away. Swagger drapes Del Rio’s leg over the top rope and knocks him down to the floor as we go to a commercial.
Back from commercial and the match is still back and forth. Swagger works over Del Rio’s leg down on the mat, but Del Rio escapes. Swagger slams Del Rio down on the mat and stands on his throat. Swagger drives his knees into Del Rio’s midsection in the corner and slams him down to the mat again. Swagger takes the wrap off of Del Rio’s knee and drops his own knee down on it. Swagger slams Del Rio and goes for the cover, but Del Rio kicks out at two. Del Rio gets to the apron and locks in the cross arm-breaker over the top rope. Del Rio comes back and delivers some right hands, but Swagger takes him down to the mat. Del Rio comes back and delivers the back-breaker and works over Swagger’s back. Del Rio delivers the backstabber, but Swagger kicks out at two. Del Rio catches Swagger in the arm-breaker, but Swagger reverses into the Patriot Lock. Del Rio gets to the ropes, but Swagger comes right back with the Swagger Bomb for a two count. Del Rio comes back and drives his knees into Swagger’s arm. Del Rio goes for the cross arm-breaker, but Swagger sends him to the outside. Del Rio comes back and kicks Swagger in the head and goes for the cover, but Swagger kicks out at two. Swagger goes for the Patriot Lock, but Del Rio reverses into the cross arm-breaker. Swagger gets free, but Del Rio rolls him up for the pin fall.
Winner: Alberto Del Rio.

We see a video recap of the happenings between John Cena and Ryback that took place on this past Monday’s Raw.

We see The Shield backstage. They say that they can see Cena, flat on his back and under their boots. They say Ryback finally got it. He got justice. Ambrose said two weeks ago on Raw, The Undertaker was scared of The Shield. Ambrose says Taker might be undefeated at WrestleMania, but The Shield is undefeated period. Rollins says Taker’s time is up and Reigns says they run the yard now.

Match #4: Six-Person Mixed Tag Team Match – Epico, Primo, and Rosa Mendes vs. Hornswoggle, The Great Khali, and Natalya
Natalya and Rosa start the match and Rosa slaps Natalya a couple of times before Natalya beats her down. Natalya goes for the Sharpshooter, but Rosa gets to the ropes. Rosa slams Natalya into the turnbuckle and then kicks her in the back. Rosa applies a submission in the middle of the ring and then slams her down again. Natalya comes back and gets a two count on a roll up attempt. Khali and Epico get into the match and Khali delivers a couple of clotheslines and then a chop. Primo goes to splash Khali, but he moves and Primo hits Epico. Khali chops them both and delivers the Khali Chop to Primo. Khali delivers the Punjabi Plunge to Epico and gets the pin fall.
Winners: The Great Khali, Hornswoggle, and Natalya.

We take a look back at CM Punk’s promo from this past Monday’s Raw. We also take a look back at Brock Lesnar’s challenge to Triple H for a Steel Cage Match at Extreme Rules, and see that Triple H will have an answer on this coming Monday’s Raw.

Match #5: Mark Henry and The Big Show vs. Randy Orton and Sheamus
Henry and Sheamus start the match, but Henry tags in Show rather quickly. Sheamus and Show brawl, and Sheamus catches Show on the apron and delivers his vintage ten clubbing shots. Show comes back and tosses Sheamus into the corner and slams him on the mat. Show goes for an elbow drop, but Sheamus moves and tags in Orton. Orton gets control for a bit, but Show comes back and delivers a side slam. Show takes Orton to the ropes and tags in Henry. Henry gets Orton in a bear hug and then slams him to the mat. Henry tags in Show, who delivers a big right hand to Orton’s midsection. Orton comes back and counters a chokeslam into a DDT. Orton tags in Sheamus, who takes down Show with a couple of shoulder tackles. Sheamus comes off the top rope and takes Showdown again. Sheamus delivers White Noise and goes for the Brogue Kick, but knocks Henry off the apron. Show takes Sheamus down with a Spear as we go to a commercial.
We’re back and Show is in control of Sheamus. Show drops an elbow and goes for the pin, but Sheamus kicks out at two. Show tags in Henry, but Sheamus fights back for a bit. Henry takes Sheamus down with a big boot and goes for the cover, but Orton breaks it up. Henry tags in Show, who clubs Sheamus in the midsection. Sheamus fights out of the corner, but Show powers him down to the mat again. Sheamus comes back and takes out Show’s knee. Show tags in Henry and Sheamus tags in Orton. Orton kicks Henry in the face and takes him down with a clothesline. Orton delivers a DDT to Henry and goes for the cover, but Henry kicks out at two. Orton catches Show coming into the ring and delivers a DDT. Orton sets up for the RKO, but Henry takes him down. Sheamus tackles Henry to the outside. Show chokeslams Orton and gets the pin fall.
Winners: The Big Show and Mark Henry
