Detailed 12/28/12 WWE Smackdown Recap

We kick off the last Smackdown of 2012 with arguably the top guy this year on Smackdown…Sheamus! Sheamus says that his new year’s resolution is to take the WHC back off of Big Show and challenges him to a match tonight. Big Show comes out and declines. Sheamus says he wants a fight and Booker comes out. Show says there isn’t a guy on the roster worthy of facing him. Booker T pulls out a tumbler that will decide the superstar facing Big Show for the title. And the winner….Santino Marella!

Match #1
Primo vs Brodus Clay
Primo starts off in control with some help from Epico. Shortly Brodus takes back the power and hits a jogging bodyslam. Clay knocks Epico off the apron and headbutts Primo. The big splash from Brodus for the win!
Winner: Brodus Clay

After the match Rosa gets into Brodus’ face and Naomi/Cameron give her a double suplex.

Sheamus tries to show Santino how to do the Brogue Kick and Santino pulls his groin.

Match #2
Team Hell No/Kofi Kingston vs Rhodes Scholars/Wade Barrett
Match starts off with each team getting their moves off and quick tags. Bryan starts off with Rhodes and quickly tags in Kane. Sandow gets in and works on Kane and then Kingston and Barrett get involved and it becomes a standstill.

We return and Bryan is being worked over by Sandow in the ring. Russian leg sweep into the Elbow of Disdain. Barrett gets his turn working over Bryan before locking in a chinlock and then tagging in Rhodes. Kingston gets the tag, as does Barrett. On the outside, the two tag teams brawl. Barrett with the Bull Hammer to Kofi for the victory.
Winners: Rhodes Scholars and Wade Barrett

Big Show tells Booker that he wants the night off now that Santino can’t compete. Booker says they’re bringing back out the tumbler. It’s Ricardo Rodriguez! Ricardo has the belt on his shoulder and Show knocks him out.

Match #3
Zack Ryder vs Antonio Cesaro
Ryder gets worked over early by Cesaro. Gutwrench slam from Cesaro. Ryder starts fighting back and goes for the Broski Boot. Cesaro dodges and hits the uppercut. Neutralizer for the win in a rather short match.
Winner: Antonio Cesaro

Match #4
Miz vs Dolph Ziggler w/Big E Langston & AJ
Starts off very slow with hold exchanges by each man. When Miz starts to take control he chucks Ziggler over the ropes but Langston catches him. Back in the ring Dolph takes advantage and hits the snapmare and the elbow drop. Miz gets back in it but takes a dropkick to the face. We return and Dolph is still in control of Miz in a headlock. Miz gets a head of steam and hits a neckbreaker. Ziggler goes for a roll up after a big boot but Miz kicks out. Miz nails the clothesline in the corner and hits the double axe handle. Langston distracts Miz and Ziggler hits the Zig Zag for the win.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler

After the match Miz insults AJ and Langston destroys him.

Booker T now puts Alberto Del Rio in the main event against Show.

Match #5
Brad Maddox vs Sheamus
Sheamus makes short work of Maddox after some attempts at offense. Sheamus finishes him off with the White Noise and Brogue Kick.
Winner: Sheamus

Match #6
The Usos vs The Prime Time Players
Jimmy starts off and he and Jey work over Young before Jey gets caught up and PTP takes control. O’Neil and Young tag in and out. Young hits the gutbuster on Jey but Jimmy switches with him. Roll up by Jimmy for the win!
Winner: The Usos

The Shield cut a promo where they say that everyone should be on watch in 2013 and that they are going to cleanse WWE of injustice.
Striker interviews Big Show who is angry about getting his match rescheduled twice. He says he’s going to KO Del Rio.

Main Event
Alberto Del Rio vs Big Show
Del Rio starts off with some offense and Show starts to make his comeback and destroys Del Rio with chops and clubs. Big Show steps on Del Rio. Del Rio starts working over the arm to get ready for the cross armbreaker. Show decides to give up at this point and walks to the back. Sheamus and Big Show brawl and Show kicks him down.
Winner by DQ: Big Show

The entire roster backs Big Show back into the ring where Del Rio hits the running enziguri and Sheamus hits the Brogue Kick! The show ends with the faces standing tall.
