12/13/12 TNA IMPACT WRESTLING RECAP

Join the Starman as he covers tonight’s pre-taped episode of Impact Wrestling as it airs.

A recap of Final Resolution is aired which shows how Austin Aries defeated Bully Ray and how Christopher Daniels defeated AJ Styles. Aces & Eights involvement during the main event is also recapped and how they attacked Bobby Roode as Jeff Hardy retained the TNA World Championship. We then head into the Impact Zone where Roode is making his way to the ring.

Roode paces around the ring and says he is confused and pissed off with what happened on Sunday night. Roode says he made an expensive business investment to guarantee that he would become the new TNA World Champion, but that didn’t happen. Roode says a deal is a deal and he wants answers from Aces & Eights and wants answers now.

Aces & Eights music hits as Devon, DOC, and three masked men make their way to the ring. Devon tells Roode a better deal came to the plate and says the person who made the deal will stay between them and the club, but he may just get his answer later on tonight. Jeff Hardy’s music hits as he comes out with James Storm. Hardy says they aren’t here to play detective, but to fight, as they storm the ring and clear the ring of Aces & Eights.

We head to the announce team who discuss what just went down and how they want to know who outbid Bobby Roode. They then hype next week’s Championship Thursday and see a video package on Velvet Sky who says she was gone for six month and how she is gunning for the Knockouts Championship and that we are going to see a new Velvet Sky as we head into a commercial break.

Footage of Mickie James after her match on Sunday is aired. She says she let herself and her fans down and it’s not the way she wanted to end 2012 as we are treated to footage of the match. Mickie says she knows she is better than that.

Match 1: Madison Rayne vs. Velvet Sky
Velvet comes out wearing new ring gear, which Taz calls a catsuit. Prior to the match, Madison gets in Velvet’s face as the announce team talk about the history these two Knockouts have with their time together in the Beautiful People. The match starts and Velvet quickly takes control of the match and picks up a near fall after hitting a seated dropkick. Madison then takes control of the match and steps on Velvet’s hair a few times before choking her on the ropes. Madison then rams Velvet’s head into the mat a few times before picking up a couple of two counts. Velvet comes back with a few strikes and clotheslines before hitting a bulldog. Velvet then hits a Pedigree for the pin fall.

Kurt Angle, Wes Brisco, and Garett Bischoff are in the locker room and Angle talks to them about being in a tag team match tonight before plugging 5 Hour Energy. The announce team then hypes tonight’s main event with Jeff Hardy & James Storm taking on Aces & Eights as we head into a commercial break.Ch

Christopher Daniels and Kazarian are backstage and say they have nothing to do with the Aces & Eights payoff. Kazarian thinks it could be AJ Styles as he has nothing to lose. We are then treated to footage of the 8-man tag team match from Final Resolution as Samoa Joe and Wes Brisco give their thoughts on the match.

Match 2: Robbie E. & Robbie T. vs. Garett Bischoff & Wes Brisco
Kurt Angle accompanies Bischoff and Brisco to the ring for this match. Brisco and Bischoff are attacked as they enter the ring and Robbie T. slams Brisco down to the mat before tagging in his partner. Robbie E. continues on the attack as the two use double team moves to wear Brisco down. Robbie T. comes back in and puts Brisco in a bear hug as they get in more double team moves as the referee is distracted. Robbie E. finally misses with an elbow as Brisco makes it to his corner to make the hot tag to Bischoff.

Bischoff comes in and runs Robbie E. down and hits a corner splash before hitting a flapjack. Bischoff gets to close to wrong corner as Robbie T. pulls Bischoff down, which allows Robbie T. to make a tag. Robbie begins tossing Bischoff around, however, Brisco makes a blind tag and hits Robbie T. with a cross body block from the top rope to pick up the pin fall victory. Angle is seen clapping from ringside until a member of Aces & Eights run and hits Angle in the knee with a pipe before running off. Bischoff and Brisco run out to check on Angle as they call for a medic and we head into a commercial break.

Footage of what just happened to Kurt Angle is aired. We then head into the trainer’s room where Angle is having his leg looked at and the trainer says he has swelling and gets Angle some ice. We head to the announce table as they set us up for footage of Joseph Park heading to OVW for wrestling training. Park meets up with Danny Davis who wants to start training Park right away, even in his suit. Footage of the training session is aired, which makes Park puke in the garbage.

Tara and Jesse head into Brooke Hogan’s office and Tara says she doesn’t mean any hard feelings when her boyfriend beats her boyfriend tonight. Tara then wants to help pick her opponent for next week’s Championship Thursday but Brooke says she will find out who she will face when everyone else does next week. The announce team hype the Jeff Hardy/James Storm vs. Aces & Eights match, which is coming up next. We then see a short 1/3/13 promo as we head into a commercial break.

Kenny King is in the locker room and says he had a dream match at Final Resolution but he came up short. King says he has learned from his mistakes but says he will knock him square on his ass tonight in a non-title match.

Match 3: James Storm & Jeff Hardy vs. Aces & Eights (DOC & Masked Man)
The match starts as Storm goes up against DOC and hits him with a series of strikes and a clothesline to take him down. Both Hardy and the masked man are tagged into the match as Hardy sends him out to the floor with a head scissors. DOC goes out to check on his partner as Hardy takes them both out with a dive off the apron as we head into a commercial break. We return to the match to see Aces & Eights get the advantage over Hardy and the two are working him over with quick tags and double team moves. Hardy takes punishment for a while as Aces & Eights methodically wear him down and pick up a near fall in the process.

Hardy is tossed out to the floor where DOC sends him into the guard railing before rolling him back into the ring to the masked man, who picks up another near fall. DOC is tagged in and picks up a near fall after hitting a splash, however, Hardy comes back with a back elbow and takes DOC down with a Whisper in the Wind. Hardy then tries to make a tag to Storm, but DOC pulls him back and tags in his partner. Hardy then kicks the masked man off of him and makes the hot tag to Storm, who comes in and takes both members of Aces & Eights and picks up a near fall after hitting a cross body block from the top rope.

Hardy is tagged back in and the two hit the masked man with Poetry in Motion before hitting DOC with a double suplex. A few more members of Aces & Eights storm the ring but Storm and Hardy quickly take care of them. Storm then hits DOC with a Last Call and Hardy hits the masked man with a Twist of Fate to pick up the pin fall to win the tag team match. Storm and Hardy then quickly leave the ring as Aces & Eights enter and Devon announces that it was Austin Aries that paid them off.

The announce team discuss what Devon just revealed and wonder if Aces & Eights can be trusted to tell the truth. We head backstage where Hulk Hogan and Bobby Roode are talking about Aries. Hogan then gets a phone call from Aries and Hogan wants him to come clean with what just went down before the end of the night or else there will be hell to pay. Roode then tells Hogan that he better have a plan and do something about Aries as Hogan walks away and we head into a commercial break.

A video package on the Christopher Daniels/AJ Styles from Final Resolution is aired, where Daniels defeated Styles with the Styles Clash. Styles then makes his way to the ring and says he came out to address the fans. Styles says he doesn’t know where he is going or what the next step is. He says he has spent too much time being a corporate man and worrying about everyone else that he forgot about himself. Styles then takes off his Impact Wrestling shirt and hat and says he is tired of cleaning up TNA’s messes and doing the right thing. From now on, he’s going to be doing his own thing as he drops the microphone and leaves the ring as we head into a commercial break.

A recap of what AJ Styles just talked about is aired for those who missed it. Dixie Carter catches up with Styles is the parking lot and wants to know what’s going on but Styles just throws his TNA shirt in her face and walks away. Christopher Daniels and Kazarian are watching a television in the back and are celebrating what just happened. Kazarian then says he has a bigger surprise for Daniels and walks away.

Match 4: Kenny King vs. Rob Van Dam
The match starts and the two trade off with kicks until RVD takes King down. RVD then plays to the crowd as King hits RVD from behind that sends him out to the floor. Back in the ring, King goes for a few near falls and continues on the attack with some flashy offense. RVD then comes back with a series of kicks and picks up a near fall after hitting a springboard leg drop. King then drops RVD with another kick and hangs RVD up on the ropes before hitting a springboard neckbreaker for another near fall. RVD and King then counter each other’s moves until RVD connects with a kick and heads to the top rope, however, King meets him in the ropes. RVD then pushes King off the ropes but King lands on his feet and counters an attempt at a cross body to pick up the pin fall while using the ropes for leverage. King the dances his way out of the ring and up the ramp as RVD looks on with an angry look on his face.

Bully Ray walks into Hulk Hogan’s office and the two get into an argument over how Ray handled his personal business with his daughter. Hogan says he hasn’t changed his mind about how he feels about Ray being with her daughter. Ray tries to defend himself and Hogan says if he was wrong about what happened between the two of them, then he won’t ever have to be around her again. The two continue to scream and swear at each other as Ray says Brooke is a grown woman and to get over it as he leaves the office. The announce team then hype Bully Ray taking on Jesse, which is coming up after the break.

The announce team hype next week’s Championship Thursday, which will see Tara defending the Knockouts Championship against one of three opponents and Devon defending the TNA Television Championship against Kurt Angle.

Match 5: Jesse vs. Bully Ray
Ray comes out like a man possessed and immediately goes on the attack. Ray paces around the ring as he methodically hits Jesse with power moves. Jesse tries to fight back with a few chops, but Ray levels him with a big boot to the face and follows with a loud chop to the chest. The fans call for one more chop and Bully toes it again as the fans chant for another one. Jesse goes for another one but Tara enters the ring and pleads with him not to do it and Bully smacks her in the ass. Jesse then hits Bully from behind and follows with a series of strikes. Ray wound from Final Resolution is busted open and Jesse takes Ray down with a dropkick but Ray comes back with another chop as we can see a handprint on Jesse’s chest. Jesse then comes back with a hard clothesline and begins choking Ray with his boot in the corner. Jesse then misses with a leg drop as Ray gets up and hits Jesse with a Bubba Cutter to pick up the pin fall.

Austin Aries is walking backstage and says he is going to the ring to tell the world some information. We then see the 1/3/13 promo as we head into a commercial break.

Footage from the main event of Final Resolution is aired, where Jeff Hardy defeated Bobby Roode with a Twist of Fate and Aces & Eights came out to attack both of them after the match. Video is also aired from earlier tonight where Devon revealed that it was Austin Aries that paid them off.

Aries then makes his way to the ring to address the situation that has gone down in recent days. Aries says he isn’t surprised that the beans have been spilled and admits that he was the man who trumped Roode’s offer to Aces & Eights. Aries says six months ago Hulk Hogan put him at the front of the line to fight against Aces & Eights and he didn’t paid for it. Aries says Hogan made him fight his battle for him and after he did his dirty work, Hogan tossed him aside for Jeff Hardy. Aries says this is why he has been pushing buttons and will not stop until he gets the TNA World Championship back.

Jeff Hardy’s music hits as he comes out and calls Aries pathetic and if he wants a shot at the title he just needs to ask like a man. Aries talks about having to jump through hopes and climb jungle jim equipment to get a shot at the title. Hardy brings up that next week is Championship Thursday and it will be Hardy/Austin III for the TNA World Championship. Aries says the problem is he doesn’t do what Hardy and the fans want, and will do it on his own time. Hardy then says he always gives the fans what he wants and clocks Aries as the two begin to brawl in the ring. Hardy manages to counter a brainbuster and hits Aries with a Twist of Fate. Hardy then climbs the ropes and sets up for a Swanton Bomb but Aries rolls out of the ring. The two stare at each other as Aries walks up the ramp and Impact Wrestling comes to a close.
