7/27/12 Friday Night Smackdown Report

Smackdown opens this week with a replay video of the happenings from this past Monday’s Raw 1000. We see the Smackdown opening video and Josh Mathews welcomes us to the show from Kansas City, Missouri.

The new Intercontinental Champion, The Miz, makes his way out to the ring as we see how he captured the title this past Monday on Raw 1000. He says he is the new face of the Intercontinental Championship. He thanks Christian’s fans for voting for him to defend the title on Raw. Christian’s music hits and he makes his way out to the ring. Christian mocks Miz and then says he is invoking his rematch clause right now.

Match #1: WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: The Miz (c) vs. Christian
Miz takes Christian down with a shoulder block, but Christian comes back and gets Miz in a headlock. Miz backs Christian into the corner, but Christian reverses and pounds away on Miz in the corner and then hits him with a back body drop. Miz goes over the top rope and Christian charges, but Miz rams his shoulder into Christian’s midsection. Christian comes back and slams his head on the ring apron and hits a baseball slide dropkick to send Miz to the floor. Christian tosses Miz back into the ring and charges at him, but Miz gets a knee up and takes him down. Miz stomps away on Christian and keeps him on the mat. Christian comes back and hits a couple of rights, but Miz clotheslines him in the corner and sledges him off the top rope for a two count. Miz gets Christian in a headlock, but Christian fights out with some elbows. Miz keeps control, but Christian takes him down with a flapjack. Miz elevates Christian over the top rope onto the floor as we go to a commercial. We’re back and Miz is stomping away on Christian and goes for a cover, but Christian kicks out at two. Miz gets him in a headlock, but Christian breaks free and gets a roll up for a two count. Miz comes back and drops Christian for a two count. Miz chokes Christian over the bottom rope and then charges him in the corner, but Christian gets his boots up to kick Miz in the face. Christian goes up top, but Miz counters with some left hands. Miz gets on the ropes as well and they slug it out before Christian knocks Miz down to the mat. Christian goes for the frog splash, but Miz gets his knees up and goes for the cover, but Christian kicks out at two. Miz takes Christian into the corner, but Christian comes back with a slap and a dropkick. Christian sends Miz off the ropes and takes hm down with a forearm shot. Christian hits an uppercut and drapes Miz over the top rope. Christian hits a cross-body off the top rope for a two count. Miz charges Christian in the corner, but Christian reverses and takes Miz down for another two count. Miz tosses Christian into the corner, but Christian comes back with a roll up attempt. Miz counters and goes for a kick to the head, but Christian reverses into a roll up for two. Miz hits a backbreaker, but Christian goes back and gets a backslide for another two count. Christian goes for the Killswitch, but Miz counters and hits a DDT for a two count. Christian takes Miz down and backs into the corner for the Spear. Christian charges, but Miz rolls out of the ring. Christian goes out after him and they both get back into the ring. Miz kicks Christian in the face and goes for the Skull Crushing Finale, but Christian counters and goes for the Killswitch. They fight into the corner and Miz connects with a thumb to the eye. Miz rolls up Christian and finally gets the pin fall with a roll up and a handful of tights. Winner and still Intercontinental Champion: The Miz.

We see that Sheamus and Cody Rhodes will go one-on-one later tonight and that we will see a Fatal Four-Way match between Alberto Del Rio, Daniel Bryan, Kane, and Rey Mysterio to determine the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Match #2: Jinder Mahal vs. Ryback
They tie up and Ryback backs Mahal into the corner. Mahal comes back with a knee and clubs Ryback on his back, before Ryback takes Mahal down with a big boot. Ryback slams Mahal down, but Mahal gets up and rakes his eyes and takes control. Mahal takes Ryback down with a flying knee and goes for a cover, but gets a one count. Mahal drops a knee in Ryback’s throat. Mahal continues to keep control and drops knees and an elbow on Ryback. Mahal goes for the camel clutch, but Ryback comes back with an inverted jaw breaker. Ryback slams Mahal into the mat and takes him down with a big spine buster. Ryback goes for a big clothesline, but Mahal ducks under and goes to the outside. Mahal walks up the ramp as the referee begins to count. Mahal is counted out as Ryback paces back and forth in the ring. Winner by count-out: Ryback.

We see that we will take a look back at what happened during the CM Punk/John Cena match from Monday’s Raw 1000 when we return from the commercial break.

We’re back and we see a recap video of the main event between CM Punk and John Cena from Raw 1000, in which we saw CM Punk turn heel. We then see more Tout videos from the fans, giving their opinions on the CM Punk situation.

We go backstage and we see Daniel Bryan. Sheamus walks in and has a gift for Bryan. Bryan opens it and its a book entitled “How to Last Longer Than 18 Seconds.” Bryan throws it down and we go to a commercial.

Match #3: Cody Rhodes vs. Sheamus
They tie up and Sheamus backs Rhodes into the corner. Rhodes goes behind Sheamus, but Sheamus connects with a shot and Rhodes goes to the outside. Rhodes gets Sheamus in a headlock, but Sheamus shoots him off the ropes and takes him down with a shoulder block for a two count. Rhodes comes back and works on Sheamus’ arm. Sheamus connects with a couple of right hands and sends Rhodes into the corner. Rhodes comes out of the corner and Sheamus hits a back breaker for a two count. Rhodes gets count on the apron and Sheamus goes for his ten clubs, but Rhodes fights out. Sheamus chases Rhodes around the ring, and then we see a different version of Sheamus’ ten clubbing blows, with Sheamus on the apron and Rhodes in the ring. Rhodes takes control back and shoves Sheamus into the ring post, which sends Sheamus to the floor. Sheamus gets back into the ring at the nine count and Rhodes stomps away on him as Dolph Ziggler’s music hits and he comes out with Vickie Guerrero as we go to a commercial break. We’re back and Rhodes is still in control as Ziggler looks on from the outside. Sheamus comes back and takes Rhodes down with a forearm shot, but Rhodes comes back with a dropkick. Rhodes hits a knee to Sheamus’ temple for a two count. Rhodes stomps away on Sheamus and goes to the outside and pounds away on Sheamus. Rhodes gets back into the ring and goes for a cover, but Sheamus quickly kicks out. Rhodes applies a Full Nelson, but Sheamus takes Rhodes down. Rhodes comes back and kicks Sheamus’ knee and hits him in the jaw. Sheamus takes Rhodes down and then connects with a few clotheslines and then drives his shoulder into his midsection. Sheamus hits a knee lift and takes Rhodes down for a two count. Sheamus goes for a clothesline, but Rhodes comes back with an elbow and then goes up top. Rhodes goes for a moonsault, but Sheamus moves and Rhodes hits the mat. Sheamus connects with the Irish Curse back breaker for a two count. Sheamus goes for White Noise, but Rhodes reverses and takes Sheamus to the outside. Sheamus gets on the apron and hits Rhodes with a forearm. Sheamus goes up top, but Rhodes takes him down and hits a kick from the top rope. Rhodes goes for the kick again, but Sheamus hits White Noise. Sheamus goes to the corner and sets up for the Brogue Kick and connects with it for the pin fall. Winner: Sheamus. After the match, Sheamus challenges Ziggler to get in the ring, but Ziggler stays on the outside after teasing that he would cash in the briefcase. Ziggler backs up the ramp, but Chris Jericho comes up from behind and tosses him into the ring, straight into a Brogue Kick from Sheamus. Jericho gets in the ring and waits for Ziggler to get up. Jericho hits the Code Breaker and leaves the ring as Vickie is yelling at him.

We are reminded again of the Fatal Four-Way match between Kane, Del Rio, Mysterio, and Bryan for later tonight as we go to a commercial.

Match #4: Antonio Cesaro (w/Aksana) vs. Santino Marella
I apologize, SyFy went out for a few minutes in my area. It came back on as Cesaro was hitting his finisher for the pin fall. Winner: Antonio Cesaro.

We see a recap video of DX destroying Damien Sandow from Raw 1000. We then see Sandow walking backstage as Michael Cole informs us that he has a match next.

Match #5: Damien Sandow vs. Yoshi Tatsu
Sandow tosses Tatsu to the outside and slams him into the barricade. Sandow gets Tatsu back into the ring and hits the Elbow of Disdain and then some knees. Sandow hits his neck breaker finisher for the pin fall. Winner: Damien Sandow. After the match, Sandow gets on the mic and says that he is our martyr and tells us “You’re welcome.”

We see that we will look back at Brock Lesnar’s accepting Triple H’s SummerSlam challenge after the commercial break.

We’re back and we see a recap video of the Lesnar/Triple H confrontation from Raw 1000. We then see more Tout videos about Raw 1000.

Match #6: #1 Contender’s (World Heavyweight Championship) Fatal Four-Way Match: Alberto Del Rio (w/Ricardo Rodriguez) vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Kane vs. Rey Mysterio
Del Rio and Mysterio square off, as do Kane and Bryan. Bryan sends Kane to the outside and Mysterio does the same to Del Rio. Bryan gets sent outside and then Mysterio jumps onto Del Rio. Bryan and Mysterio get back into the ring and Bryan takes him down with a clothesline for a two count. Del Rio slams Kane into the steel steps, but gets taken down by Bryan. Mysterio rolls up Bryan for a two count. Bryan kicks Mysterio’s knee an takes him down to the mat. Bryan charges at Mysterio, but Mysterio kicks him in the knee and goes for the 6-1-9, but Del Rio gets involved. Kane gets back into the ring and squashes Del Rio and Bryan and hits a side slam on Bryan for a two count. Kane goes up top and clotheslines Bryan from the top. Bryan and Mysterio go for a double suplex on Kane, but he reverses and hits a suplex on both of them. Kane stands tall as we go to a commercial.We’re back and Del Rio goes for a cover on Kane, but gets a two count. Del Rio goes after Bryan and stomps away on him in the corner. Bryan sends Del Rio to the other corner and stomps away on him. Bryan charges at Del Rio, but he moves and kicks Bryan in the head. Del Rio goes for the cross arm breaker, but Mysterio dives off the top rope and gets a two count. Mysterio sets up for an attack on Del Rio, but Kane knocks him down. Del Rio gets tossed to the outside and Kane and Mysterio battle it out in the ring. Mysterio dives off the top rope, but Kane catches him and Del Rio dropkicks him. Bryan applies the Yes Lock on Del Rio, but Kane stops Del Rio from tapping. Kane punches Bryan and clotheslines him out of the ring. Del Rio works on Kane’s arm, but Kane choke slams him in a reversal. Kane goes for the cover, but Mysterio breaks it up. Bryan takes Kane down on the outside as Mysterio and Del Rio battle on the inside. Mysterio sets up for the 6-1-9, but Bryan stops him. Mysterio hits the 6-1-9 on both Del Rio and Bruan and goes up top and splashes Bryan, but Del Rio gets the pin fall on Bryan. Winner and number one contender: Alberto Del Rio.
