7/20/12 Friday Night Smackdown Report

We see the Smackdown opening video and Josh Mathews welcomes us to the show from San Diego, California.

Rey Mysterio’s music hits and he makes his way out to the ring. He grabs a microphone and begins his promo. He says it has been almost a year since he was injured in this very arena. He says it feels good to be back with all of his friends and family and officially announces that he is back. He says he couldn’t wait on Raw; he had to do something to Alberto Del Rio. Del Rio’s music hits and he comes out with Ricardo Rodriguez. Del Rio says Mysterio made a mistake by coming back and that Mysterio should never pick a fight with him. Del Rio reminds Mysterio that he almost ended his career and that he can finish the job right now. Del Rio tells Mysterio to leave the ring, to which Mysterio says no. Del Rio says he won evrything while Mysterio was gone and is here to talk about what Sheamus did at Money in the Bank. Mysterio mocks Del Rio, but Del Rio says again that he will end Mysterio’s career. Dolph Ziggler’s music hits and he makes his way out with Vickie Guerrero. Ziggler says if Mysterio’s career is ended by the next World Heavyweight Champion, it will be by him. Ziggler says he is not here for Mysterio, he’s out here for Del Rio. Ziggler reminds Del Rio that he won the Money in the Bank briefcase. Ziggler said he was going to cash it in last Sunday, but Del Rio ruined that. Del Rio said he isn’t going to do all the work just to have Ziggler cash in. Del Rio says Ziggler and Vickie should be working for him. Mysterio interrupts and tells them to fight. They both turn towards Mysterio, but Sheamus makes his way out to the ring. Sheamus welcomes Mysterio back and says he will take Ziggler and drive him off of a bridge in Del Rio’s car. Sheamus takes Ziggler down and Mysterio goes for the 6-1-9, but Vickie pulls Ziggler out of the way. Sheamus and Mysterio celebrate in the ring as Del Rio and Ziggler are on the outside.

We see that Christian will host The Peep Show and that his guests will be AJ and Daniel Bryan.

We’re back from the commercial and we see that the main event tonight will be Alberto Del Rio and Dolph Ziggler vs. Rey Mysterio and Sheamus.

Match #1: Eight-Man Tag Team Match:  Camacho, Hunico, and The Prime Time Players (w/A.W.) vs. Epico and Primo (w/Rosa Mendes) and Kofi Kingston and R-Truth
Epico and Hunico start the match and Hunico takes Epico to the corner and chops him. Hunico takes Epico down, but Epico comes back with a hurricanrana and an arm drag. Epico tags in Primo, who hits a beautiful dropkick for a two count. Hunico tags in Camacho, who backs Primo into the corner and drives his shoulder into his midsection. Camacho hits some right hands and charges into the corner, but Primo rolls him up for a two count. R-Truth tags Primo behind Camacho’s back and Truth takes advantage and hits a leg drop for a two count. Camacho takes Truth into the corner, but Truth fights out and then all eight men get into the ring and brawl. Epico, Primo, Kingston, and Truth stand tall in the ring as we go to a commercial. We’re back and Kingston and Camacho are in the ring. Kingston is in control and hits the Boom Drop and set up for the Trouble in Paradise before Hunico distracts him and Camacho hits a spine buster for a two count. Kingston gets trapped in the heels’ corner as Camacho tags in Hunico. Hunico flips over the top rope onto Kingston for a two count. Hunico gets Kingston in a headlock and takes Kingston into the corner and tags in O’Neal. O’Neal slams Kingston down in the corner, but Kingston fights back before O’Neal slams him down again for a two count. O’Neal puts Kingston in an abdominal stretch and then slams him down. Young comes in the send and Kingston sends O’Neal to the outside. Kingston tags in Primo and he takes control of Young. Primo chops him in the corner and hits a dive off the top rope for a two count. Primo and Young are left alone in the ring, but O’Neal knocks Primo off the top rope. Young gets the pin fall off the distraction. Winners: The Prime Time Players, Camacho, and Hunico. After the match, The Big Show makes his way to the ring. He goes after everyone in the ring and knocks all of them out with WMD Punches and Chokeslams, with the exception of The Prime Time Players and A.W., who escaped. Show grabs a microphone and says, “And, what?” and walks away.

We see that we will revisit John Cena’s historic week when we return from the break. We also see another memorable Raw moment, and this one is from August 3, 2009 when Jeremy Piven hosted the show.

We’re back from the break and we see a video package recapping how John Cena won the Money in the Bank Ladder Match and then showing him challenging CM Punk for the WWE Championship at Raw 1000.

We are reminded that the main event tonight will be Alberto Del Rio and Dolph Ziggler vs. Rey Mysterio and Sheamus as we go to a commercial.

Match #2: Damien Sandow vs. Zack Ryder
Ryder takes Sandow down and pounds away on him before the bell rings. Ryder charges at Sandow again once the bell rings, but Sandow takes Ryder down and stomps away on him. Sandow drops a knee and stomps away again. Sandow hits Ryder on his neck on the ring apron and connects with a right hand. Sandow drops an elbow and gets back into the ring and stomps away on Ryder again. Sandow grabs Ryder and connects with knees and hits his neck breaker finisher for the pin fall. Winner: Damien Sandow.

We see that The Peep Show will happen next as we go to a commercial.

We’re back and it’s time for the Peep Show. Christian says he has been in the WWE for 10 years and has seen a lot of bizarre things, but what he saw this past Monday was really bizarre.  We see a video of Daniel Bryan proposing to AJ and her saying yes. Bryan’s music hits and they walk out together. Christian asks how the wedding planning is going and Bryan says it’s tough to plan a wedding in a week but they are getting it done. AJ says they brought a clip and it shows her and Bryan going around looking at wedding stuff and having a good time. Christian says that was a special video. Christian asks Bryan if he is sure he is doing the right thing. Bryan says yes. Christian asks AJ if she has completely forgiven Bryan for everything he has done to her and she says yes. Christian asks them both if this is true love and they both lead the “YES YES YES” chants. Christian asks the WWE Universe if they should get married and they say no. He asks if Bryan really loves AJ and they say no. He asks if AJ has any idea what she’s really doing and they say no. Christian asks AJ if she has any idea what she is doing and she slaps him. Bryan and AJ go to leave, but Christian stops him. Christian tells Bryan that he had been scheduled for a match against one of AJ’s ex-boyfriends. Kane’s music hits and he makes his way out to the ring as we go to a commercial.

Match #3: Daniel Bryan (w/AJ) vs. Kane
Bryan kicks Kane in the leg, but Kane shoves him off. Bryan does it again, but Kane delivers a knee to the midsection. Kane connects with a Big Boot for a two count. Kane applies a submission in the middle of the ring, but Bryan escapes. Kane hits a back breaker and stretches Bryan over his knee. Bryan escapes with knees to Kane’s head. Kane stomps away on Bryan in the corner and tosses Bryan to the other corner. Bryan flips over Kane and takes out his knee with a dropkick. Bryan kicks Kane in the chest and goes for a kick to the head, but Kane catches him and goes for a chokeslam, but Bryan gets out and hits a dropkick in the corner. Bryan kicks Kane in the head and gets a two count. Bryan goes up top and dives off, but Kane connects with an uppercut for a two count. Kane tosses Bryan to the corner and hits a sideslam for a two count. Kane goes up top and dives off, but Bryan catches him and goes for the Yes Lock. Kane fights it off and shoves Bryan to the mat. Kane charges at Bryan, but he pulls the ropes down and Kane goes to the outside. Bryan goes to check on AJ and Kane kicks him in the back of the head and tosses him into the steel steps. Kane tosses him into the barricade and then slams his head into the announce table and then tosses him back into the ring. Kane sets up for the chokeslam, but AJ jumps on his back and the referee calls for the bell. Winner by disqualification: Kane. After the match, Bryan goes after Kane, but Kane chokeslams him. AJ is still on Kane’s back and she teases that she is going to kiss him, but she drops down and leaves the ring with Bryan. Bryan and AJ kiss at the top of the stage as Kane looks on.

We are reminded of the main event with Del Rio and Ziggler vs. Mysterio and Sheamus as we go to a commercial.

We’re back and we see a memorable Raw moment and it’s Zack Ryder taking us back to the days of GTV. We see another memorable Raw moment, and it’s of Heath Slater’s recent events with the legends.

Match #4: Heath Slater vs. Road Warrior Animal
Slater charges, but Animal takes him down with a big clothesline. Slater takes control for a bit and pummels Animal down. Animal takes Slater down with a slam and hits an elbow for the pin fall. Winner: Road Warrior Animal.

We see random Tout videos of fans giving their opinions for Raw 1000.

We see Ricardo Rodriguez and Vickie Guerrero arguing backstage. Vickie screams in his face and he walks away.

Match #5: Alberto Del Rio (w/Ricardo Rodriguez) and Dolph Ziggler (w/Vickie Guerrero) vs. Rey Mysterio and Sheamus
Sheamus and Ziggler start the match. Zigger goes behind, but Sheamus tosses him to the mat. They tie up and Sheamus takes Ziggler down in a headlock. Ziggler shoots Sheamus off, but he comes back and takes Ziggler down with a shoulder block. Ziggler comes back and takes Sheamus down and gets control for a few moments, but Sheamus comes back with the Plunge for a two count. Rey comes in and splashes Ziggler for a two count. Ziggler tosses Mysterio into the corner, but Mysterio moves. Mysterio eats a big clothesline from Ziggler and Ziggler tags in Del Rio. Del Rio gets a two count on Mysterio. Del Rio grabs Mysterio, but he escapes and tags in Sheamus. Sheamus comes after Del Rio, but he backs up and tags in Ziggler. Sheamus takes Ziggler down and catches him in the ropes and hits his vintage ten clubbing blows on Ziggler’s chest. Ziggler drops to the floor and Sheamus comes out after him. Ziggler gets back into the ring as Sheamus argues with Del Rio. Ziggler kicks Sheamus off the apron to the floor and Del Rio gets a shot in as well as we go to a commercial. We’re back and Sheamus tosses Ziggler to the mat. Sheamus tags in Mysterio, who hits a hurricanrana on Ziggler and takes him to the corner. Mysterio kicks Ziggler in the head and gets a two count. Mysterio kicks Ziggler’sknee and he falls into the ropes. Mysterio goes for the 6-1-9, but Del Rio trips him up. Ziggler goes for the pin, but the referee was busy with Sheamus. Ziggler tags in Del Rio. Del Rio applies a submission in the middle of the ring, but Mysterio gets out. Del Rio takes Mysterio down again for a two count. Del Rio tags in Ziggler and they double team Mysterio in the corner. Ziggler gets Mysterio in a submission, but Mysterio fights out. Ziggler comes back with a neck breaker and drags Mysterio to the corner and tags in Del Rio. Del Rio pounds away on Mysterio, but Mysterio tries to get to Sheamus before Del Rio stops him. Del Rio goes for the cover, but Mysterio kicks out at two. Del Rio kicks Mysterio into the corner and charges, but Mysterio elevates him over the top rope. Mysterio tries to get to Sheamus, but Del Rio tags in Ziggler, who stops Mysterio. Ziggler goes for a face buster, but Mysterio reverses into a DDT. Ziggler tags in Del Rio and Mysterio tags in Sheamus, who comes in and takes Del Rio down with a couple of clotheslines and a running knee lift. Del Rio comes back and goes after Sheamus’ shoulder. Sheamus shoves Del Rio into Ziggler and hits White Noise. Sheamus sets up for the Brogue Kick, but Ricardo Rodriguez gets in the ring for the disqualification. Winners via disqualification: Sheamus and Rey Mysterio. After the match, Del Rio kicks Sheamus in the head and applies the cross arm breaker submission before the referees force him to break the hold. Ziggler goes to cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase, but Mysterio catches Ziggler with the 6-1-9 and Sheamus hits him with the Brogue Kick. Sheamus and Mysterio celebrate as Smackdown comes to a close.
