5/25/12 WWE Friday Night Smackdown Recap‏

-Smackdown opens this week with a replay of John Cena’s promo from this past Monday on Raw, and the events that happened last Sunday at Over the Limit. We see the Smackdown opening video and Josh Mathews welcomes us to the show from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

-Eve Torres makes her way to the ring. She reminds us that John Laurinaitis is still the General Manager of both Raw and Smackdown, but he will not be in the arena tonight. She says she is in charge and she is going to deal with Sheamus tonight. She says Sheamus will apologize for bumping into Laurinaitis on Raw and that she will name his opponent for No Way Out. Alberto Del Rio interrupts and makes his way to the ring. Del Rio calls her smart and beautiful and says there is no one else that should be the number on contender except for him. He tells her to make Laurinaitis proud by making him the number one contender. Randy Orton interrupts and makes his way to the ring. Orton introduces himself to Eve and tells her to let the fans help her make her decision. The fans side with Orton before Kane makes his way to the ring. Kane says neither Orton nor Del Rio has the qualifications that he does and calls Sheamus the “pasty-white Irish ghost” and informs us that tonight’s Smackdown is episode number 666. Eve makes a Triple Threat Number One Contender’s match between Kane, Del Rio, and Orton for later tonight.

-We recap the triumphant return of Christian from this past Sunday at Over the Limit where he won the People Power Battle Royal and then the Intercontinental Championship.

-Match #1: Christian vs. Hunico (w/Camacho)
Hunico shoots Christian off the ropes, but Christian comes back with a flying forearm that takes Hunico down to the mat. Hunico kicks Christian in the midsection and then chops him on the ropes, but Christian reverses and delivers a back body drop to Hunico. Hunico rolls to the outside and Christian attempts a baseball slide, but Hunico moves out of the way. Camacho distracts Christian on the outside and Hunico shoves him into the ring post and Christian falls to the floor. Hunico dives through the second rope and takes Christian down and then tosses him into the ring and goes for the cover, but Christian kicked out at two. Christian takes the momentum of the match and takes Hunico down to the mat. Christian goes to the second rope and jumps off, but Hunico catches him and goes for the cover, but Christian kicks out at two and rolls Hunico up himself, but Hunico kicks out at two. Christian connects with the Killswitch, and then hits the Peep Splash from the top rope for the pin fall. Winner: Christian. After the match, Cody Rhodes comes out and says he restored the prestige to the Intercontinental Championship and Christian ruined it in one night. Rhodes says it will only take him three seconds to get it back when he gets his rematch.

-We are reminded of the Triple Threat main event between Randy Orton, Kane, and Alberto Del Rio.

-Match #2: Darren Young and Titus O’Neil vs. The Usos
Jey Uso and Titus O’Neil start the match off. Jey takes the early advantage in the match and controls O’Neil into his corner. Jey tags in Jimmy and they deliver a double head-butt. Jimmy chops O’Neil and Jey tags himself back in. Jey delivers a forearm to O’Neil’s head. O’Neil turns the momentum and kicks Jey down to the mat. O’Neil tags in Young and they do their double team slam and Young goes for the cover, but Jey kicks out at two. Young takes Jey into his corner and tags in O’Neil. O’Neil stomps away on Jey before he tags in Young. Jey counters Young’s attack and tags in Jimmy. Jimmy takes advantage of the match and gives Young a Samoan Drop before smashing him in the corner. Jimmy goes for the cover, but O’Neil breaks it up at two. O’Neil shoves Jey into the ring apron on the outside as Jimmy goes for the splash from the top rope on Young. O’Neil distracts Jimmy and Young knocks him off of the rope. Young takes in O’Neil and they do their double team finisher and O’Neil pins Jimmy for the pin fall. Winners: Titus O’Neil and Darren Young.

-We see that Sheamus still has to apologize tonight and that Ryback is in action next.

-We see a Sin Cara video package that says he will return next week.

-Match #3: 2-on-1 Handicap Match: Brian Edwards and Kevin Bendl vs. Ryback
The jobbers cut a promo before the match, as usual. Ryback comes out sporting a black eye. Ryback slams both men onto the mat and clotheslines one of them. He delivers his muscle buster finisher to both of them at the same time and covers both of them for the pin fall. Winner: Ryback.

-We see Santino Marella and Ricardo Rodriguez walking backstage. It appears that they will be having a match next.

-Match #4: Ricardo Rodriguez vs. Santino Marella
Marella takes Rodriguez goes with a shoulder block and then they both run the ropes, in which Rodriguez doesn’t stop and runs himself tired. Marella picks him up and does an airplane spin. They both get dizzy and fall down and Marella goes under the ring. Rodriguez runs to the other side of the ring and Marella comes from under the ring on the same side that he went under. He taps Rodriguez on the shoulder and he finally turns around and The Cobra connects for the pin fall. Winner: Santino Marella.

-We see that Sheamus’ public apology is coming up next.

-Sheamus makes his way to the ring. Sheamus says running into Laurinaitis was an accident. He said he shouldn’t have to apologize for an accident. He says since people are saying he did it on purpose, he guesses it was accidentally on purpose. Sheamus is about to apologize, but then apologizes for Laurinaitis being a giant arse. He says Eve and David Otunga are so far up Laurinaitis’ arse and so is The Big Show. Sheamus says if he had his way, he’d be facing Randy Orton at No Way Out. Vickie Guerrero comes out and interrupts. She says Eve told her that Sheamus has a match right now against Jack Swagger.

-Match #5: Jack Swagger (w/Vickie Guerrero) vs. Sheamus
They tie up and circle around the ring with neither man gaining an advantage. Swagger connects with an elbow and then charges at Sheamus, but Sheamus moves and they’re at a stalemate once again. Swagger gets in some offense, but Sheamus quickly gets out of it and takes Swagger down to the mat. Sheamus goes to the top rope and connects with a shoulder block, which takes Swagger down again. Sheamus goes for the cover, but Swagger kicks out at two. Swagger goes to the outside to escape Sheamus, but Sheamus meets him and delivers a big clothesline. Sheamus tosses Swagger back into the ring and looks to be going for his catapult shoulder block over the top rope, but Vickie distracts him and Swagger takes out his ankle. Back in the ring, Swagger continues to work on Sheamus’ ankle. Swagger slams Sheamus’ ankle into the ring post and gets back in the ring and goes for the cover, but Sheamus kicks out at two. Swagger continues to work on Sheamus’ ankle and then clotheslines him in the corner and stretches his ankle over the middle rope. Sheamus powers out and delivers a neck breaker to Swagger. Sheamus takes Swagger down with a few forearm shots and then catches him on the apron and connects with his vintage ten clubbing blows to the chest. Sheamus suplexes Swagger back into the ring and goes for the cover, but Swagger kicks out at two. Sheamus goes for the Brogue Kick, but Swagger ducks and takes out Sheamus’ leg. Swagger splashes Sheamus from the second rope for goes for the cover, but Sheamus kicks out at two. Swagger goes for the gut-wrench powerbomb, but Sheamus flips out of it and connects with the Brogue Kick for the pin fall. Winner: Sheamus.

-We are reminded again of the Triple Threat main event with Orton, Del Rio, and Kane and see that The Big Show will give an explanation of his actions later tonight.

-Match #6: Damien Sandow vs. Yoshi Tatsu
Sandow cuts the promo that he has been for a few weeks now, but says he is going to beat Tatsu for the betterment of the unwashed masses tonight. Tatsu charges at Sandow, but he goes into the ropes and tells the referee to do his job and get Tatsu off of him. Sandow takes out Tatsu’s knee and then delivers knees of his own. Sandown takes Tatsu down with a neck breaker for the pin fall. Winner: Damien Sandow.

-The Big Show comes to the ring. Show says before the Raw before Over the Limit, he had never been fired. Show says he felt betrayed by his friends in the back and by the fans. He says not one fan or one member of the roster came to his defense. Show says he did not sell out. He questions the fans’ integrity by asking them is this is the thanks he gets after all he has done. He says he thought he was alone in this world, and then the phone call came. He says he made a deal that if he helped Laurinaitis beat Cena, he got his job back and then some. He says with one punch, he knocked Cena out and he will do it again at No Way Out. He says the people never really cared about him and now he doesn’t care about the people.

-As Show leaves the ring, Kane makes his way to the ring. They look at each other as they pass on the stage. Daniel Bryan gets in the ring and attacks Kane with a chair.

-Match #7: #1 Contender’s (World Heavyweight Championship) Triple Threat Match: Alberto Del Rio (w/Ricardo Rodriguez) vs. Kane vs. Randy Orton
Orton immediately goes after Del Rio and then after Kane, connecting with some right hands on both men. Orton tosses Del Rio out of the ring and Kane connects with a big boot to Orton. Kane dropkicks Orton and goes for the cover, but Orton kicks out at two. Kane smashes Orton in the corner and tries to do it a second time, but Orton gets a boot up and hits Kane with a neck breaker and goes for the cover, but Del Rio breaks it up. Del Rio stomps away on both men before getting an uppercut from Kane and getting clotheslined over the top rope by Orton. Kane clotheslines Orton over the top rope and goes to the outside himself. Kane slams Orton into the ring apron and then kicks Del Rio against the barricade. Kane goes to slam Orton’s head into the barricade, but Orton reverses and does the same to Kane and then to Del Rio. Orton slams Kane’s head into the announcers table a couple of times and then gets back into the ring. Orton attempts his second rope DDT on Kane, but Del Rio gets up and kicks Orton in the head. All three men are down as we go to commercial. Back from commercial and Kane is stomping away on Del Rio in the corner. Orton gets an uppercut from Kane, who goes for the cover, but Orton kicks out at two. Kane slams Orton to the mat and drops an elbow and goes for the cover, but Orton kicks out at two again. Kane goes after Del Rio and connects with some rights and lefts, but Del Rio reverses and kicks Kane in his injured shoulder and goes after Orton and chokes him in the corner. Orton tosses Del Rio onto the ring apron and then drop kicks him to the floor. Orton goes after Kane, but Kane side slams Orton and goes for the cover, but Orton kicks out at two. Kane goes to the top rope, but Del Rio kicks him down to the floor. Del Rio goes after Orton, but Orton gets on the offensive and connects with a couple of clotheslines. Kane gets back in the ring and Orton hits him with a power slam. Orton gives Del Rio a power slam as well and clotheslines Kane over the top rope. Orton gets Del Rio caught in the corner and delivers his second rope DDT and goes for the RKO but Del Rio shoves him away. Kane catches Orton and shoves him into the ring steps. Kane drapes Del Rio over the top rope and goes to the top, but Del Rio moves and goes for the cross arm breaker submission. Kane reverses and delivers a choke slam to Del Rio. Daniel Bryan comes out with a chair and distracts Kane. Bryan runs to the back as Kane gets back into the ring. Bryan runs down again and distracts Kane once more, which leads to Orton hitting Kane with an RKO. Orton goes for the cover, but Del Rio breaks it up at two with a kick to Orton. Del Rio covers Kane for the pin fall. Winner: Alberto Del Rio. After the match, Del Rio and Rodriguez are at the top of the stage when Sheamus comes out and clubs Del Rio from behind. Sheamus tells Del Rio he can’t wait to kick his head off at No Way Out and celebrates with the title as Smackdown comes to a close.
