7/4/11 WWE Raw Recap

– Show starts off with a recap of last week’s Raw Roulette.
– Announced: Rey Mysterio vs. Albert Del Rio vs. R-Truth for the #1 contendership for the WWE championship, plus The Miz vs. Alex Riley.
– Here come’s the champ. John Cena said that CM Punk has been suspended indefinitely for comments he made, and is stripped of his opportunity to face him in Punk’s hometown for the WWE title at Money in the Bank. Cena said he doesn’t agree with WWE’s decision to take action against CM Punk for speaking his mind. Cena said didn’t agree with Punk’s comments, but had no problem with them. Cena tells Michael Cole he doesn’t want to hear from the anonymous Raw General Manager, he wants to hear from Vince McMahon himself, who is flying in tonight. Cena said he wants to face CM Punk at Money in the Bank.
– Backstage, We see Kelly Kelly (sporting the divas title) and Eve Torres as they are getting ready to face the Bella Twins.
– We see a recap of last week’s angle in which Eve saves Kelly Kelly from being attacked by the Bellas.
(1) Kelly Kelly and Eve vs. The Bella Twins. Kelly scored the pin fall victory at 3:13.
– We see a video package on Tough Enough winner Andy, and his silent rage.
– Backstage, R-Truth is talking to Flo attempting to get a better deal on his car insurance. R-Truth said its a conspiracy wasn’t awarded the WWE title shot. Truth did say he saved 15% on his car insurance. Del Rio comes in and said its not about fairness, its his destiny to win the WWE championship.
(2) Tag Team champions Michael McGillicutty and David Otunga vs. Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov. McGillicutty pinned Marella at 4:15. Zack Ryder was “woo woo woo, you know it” as he eyed the tag team champions.
– “It all ends tonight,” says The Miz. He said its because of Alex Riley that he isn’t in the contendership match tonight.
– Sgt. Slaughter and Evan Bourne talk backstage. Jack Swagger brought up that Slaughter sided with Iraq during the gulf war. Sarge said we all make mistakes like when Swagger’s parent’s didn’t use birth control. Swagger challenges Sgt. to a match, and he accepts.
– We see Mr. McMahon’s private Jet landing.
(3) Jack Swagger vs. Sgt. Slaughter. Swagger wins a squash match in 1:06. After the match, Swagger puts the ankle lock, but Evan Bourne runs out to make the save. Sgt. gets up and says the pledge of allegiance.
– We see a recap of last week’s Big Show-Mark Henry cage match.
(4) Triple Threat match for the #1 contendership for the WWE championship: R-Truth vs. Albert Del Rio vs. Rey Mysterio. Del Rio wins at 13:07 when he forced Mysterio to tap out. Del Rio earns Punk’s title shot at Money in the Bank.
– Vickie Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler come with a table set up with a birthday cake on it. Vickie wants the fans to sing happy birthday to the United States Champion, Dolph Ziggler. Fans boo as Vickie sings. Ziggler tells the fans they are seeing him in his prime, as there will be dozens more John Cena’s and Randy Orton’s. Kofi Kingston makes his way to the ring. Kingston said without Vickie, he can’t bet him. Kingston pushes Ziggler, who accidentally pushes Vickie into the cake. Vickie is none to happy, as Ziggler goes after Kofi in the back.
– We see a Riley vs. Miz recap.
(5) The Miz vs. Alex Riley. We get a commercial break four minutes into the match. Riley wins in 9:10, but after the match, The Miz attacks Riley.
– Outside the arena, we see Vince McMahon arrive in his limo.
– Cole and Lawler introduce a clip take us back to last week’s Raw Roulette to set up the Vince McMahon-John Cena angle.
– Vince McMahon struts his way to the ring. Vince said Punk got suspended because he deserved it. McMahon said Punk’s contract is almost up, and he has been wanting limos, private transportation, etc. Vince said Punk is a Punk. Vince is about to leave, when Cena’s music hits, and out comes the champ again. Cena asks if Vince still believes in the first amendment, and he said yes, thats why Cena’s mic is still on. Cena wonders if Vince has gone soft? Cena said if Vince isn’t a fighter any more, then made he should retire. Vince said the real reason he suspended Punk, is because he could beat Cena and take the title to another wrestling organization. Cena said the match should still happen because Punk earned it. Vince said be a man, don’t be a Hogan. Vince said he doesn’t care what the fans want, and this is his company. Vince said he makes the best decision for the company. Cena said he has busted his butt for the company, and Punk has earned a title shot. Cena gives McMahon the WWE title belt and walks off. McMahon stops Cena,a and walks up the ramp to him. Vince says Punk is reinstated, and he has the match. He tells Cena if he loses the match, he’ll walk down the ring and tell him he is fired!
