‘Hardcore Revolution’ Proves to be "Extreme"
Ever dream of becoming a booker for a national wrestling promotion and setting the line up for a
pay-per-view? Or perhaps lacing up your boots for a shot at Steve Corino at the ECW Arena? Acclaim gives you such opportunities with the February 17th release of "Hardcore Revolution" for Playstation, Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast, and Game Boy.
"Hardcore Revolution" is geared for a mature audience, carrying a "M" rating, the first ever-wrestling video game with such a rating. "The game’s extreme wrestling action and strong language sets it apart from other wrestling video games by targeting an adult audience," states Michael Archer, brand director of Acclaim Ring Sports. In addition to the strong language, the game also features blood, synonymous with ECW events.
The game play is very similar to that of "WWF Attitude," which was the last video game designed by Acclaim before they signed with ECW.
"Hardcore Revolution" features over 40 Extreme superstars such as Rob Van Dam, Mike Awesome, Tommy Dreamer, Raven, Sabu, Justin Credible, and Lance Storm. For gender equality, "Revolution" also allows to you compete with Francine and Dawn Marie.
The most notable missing extreme star from the video game is the hardcore legend the Sandman. However, the game features a nice create a wrestler mode, which again is similar to Acclaim’s counterpart "WWF Attitude."
Another interesting feature is the first-ever legends mode which features the Original Sheik, who trained both Rob Van Dam and Sabu, and the late Louie Spicolli.
"Hardcore Revolution" allows to you compete in a variety of matches such as barbed wire, tornado, steel cage, lumberjack, death, first blood, and in iron man competitions.
In career mode, you are sent on the road with a travel schedule, including "ECW on TNN" television tapings. You are able to select a tag team partner and case down the ECW World Tag Team titles or individually strive for the ECW World Television and Heavyweight titles.

Weapons featured on the game include cheese graders, kendo-sticks, bats, shovels, ladders, and a few surprises.
