- Linda McMahon was today approved 96 to 45 to the Connecticut State Board of Education. One of the leading Democrats at the House of Representatives who opposed her nomination, Jack Thompson, argued that the WWE promotes violence to children: "It seems to me that we're sending the wrong message to people - that violence is all right," he said. "It's the wrong message. I grew up with a professional wrestler. He lived behind me. We were great friends. At one point, he was Sinbad the Sailor when he was the bad guy. When people are jumping off ropes onto other people, it sends the wrong message to children."
