- Despite some earlier hiccups, WWE Chief Executive Officer Linda McMahon
won initial approval to be included in the 11 member State Board of
Education in Connecticut. "Her background and her presentation today, I
thought, was very impressive and effective," said Senate Majority Leader
Martin Looney, D-New Haven. McMahon's friend, and Connecticut Governor M.
Jodi Rell nominated her a few weeks ago. McMahon still faces harsh
opposition from State representatives. Shawn Johnston, D-Putnam, said he
was looking at WWE events online before yesterday's hearing and had to shut
his office door according to a story which appeared in the Stamford
Advocate. "I was afraid someone was going to walk by and think I was
watching pornography on a Capitol computer," Johnston said.
