- WWE has signed a new agreement with SBS TV in Denmark to broadcast Monday
Night RAW exclusively on Denmark's new channel, 6'eren. The one hour
international RAW version will air every Fridays starting on January 16. "It
is a pleasure to be partnering with SBS TV to return the best action
entertainment programming in the world to Denmark, satisfying the pent-up
demand of WWE's significant Danish fan base," said Andrew Whitaker, WWE
President for Europe. Tina Moreton, Head of Acquisition at SBS TV, said that
they are pleased and excited to have WWE on board on the new male channel.
"Returning WWE to TV screens in Denmark is a testament to 6'eren's
commitment to a new direction in programming: delivering world-class action
entertainment in Denmark. We look forward to welcoming the Raw Superstars
and Divas to 6'eren."
- WWE and WGN announced new details about the show 'Superstars' which will
be brought back on television on WGN America. The first-run show will start
in April of this year and will be a one hour long weekly program. It will
air on Thursday nights at 8PM and again at 11PM EST with replays during the
weekends. It's not known yet how and when the tapings will occur since the
press release lists that Superstars and Divas from all three brands will
appear. "WWE is one of the great American brands on television and we are
thrilled to announce our partnership. The addition of WWE Superstars to WGN
America's lineup signals our intention to add more tent-pole programs to our
network brand strategy. Going forward, we will play to win," said Ed Wilson,
Tribune Company's Chief Revenue Officer and Tribune Broadcasting President.
The show is part of a new multi-year agreement with WGN America. WGN was in
competition with MyNetworkTV to get the rights for Friday Night Smackdown!
when the bidding process started however they ended up losing that
particular fight.
- The 1/1 edition of TNA iMPACT! did a 0.95 rating, and an average audience of 1.3 million viewers.
