- Marcus Cor Von is officially on a leave of absense from WWE. He was forced to take time off to take care of his nieces and nephews due to problems within the family.
- Konnan's doctors believe the wrestler has a 90% of chance his anti-rejection medicine will be successful, following his recent kidney transplant surgery. However, the drugs given to Konnan carry a risk of side effects such as birth defects if he were to father a child (he and his wife have been talking about starting a family). There is also an increasing risk of cancer by undergoing the treatment.
- TNA has secured a two hour time slot with Spike TV, but the network has given the promotion a condition - the wrestling company must purchase HD equipment, as Spike TV will be upgrading to HD broadcasting by 2009. TNA is apparently putting up resistance to the condition as the current contract is set to expire at the end of September. Spike TV has previously provided funding to TNA, such as contributing money to bring Sting to TNA, but the cable network hasn’t been open to providing addition financing for the purchase of HD equipment for the promotion.
- The current booking plan has Kurt Angle successfully defending all the TNA titles at the 9/9 No Surrender PPV, and again defending them at Bound for Glory in Atlanta, GA against Jeff Jarrett.
- At UFC 74 in Las Vegas, NV, Randy Couture def. Gonzaga 1:37 into round three via TKO to retain the UFC Heavyweight Title.
