Smackdown! Recap for 11-06-09



Show opens with the opening graphic and pyro. Smackdown! is in Providence, RI tonight.

The Undertaker's music hits and he comes down to the ring. Taker says that the dark lord was born at Survivor Series, and year after year they all fall at his feet. He says even today, they come for a chance to be world heavyweight champion. He says Big Show betrayed an entire team to get a shot at his belt, but what he got was a chance to be exterminated. He then talks about Chris Jericho. He says Jericho took away the chance to fight his brother Kane. Because of that, Jericho's soul will be his.

Jericho comes down to ringside in his suit. (Hopefully he'll call Taker "Hadji" lmao) Jericho says after 10 years the fans finally get what they want. He says the best in the world versus the phenom. He calls himself the true phenom of the WWE, due to the definition in the dictionary suiting him better than Taker. Jericho says for the last 20 years, Taker has been brainwashing the fans. Jericho says Taker is not a dead man, he's just a man. He says at Survivor Series, he'll become champion for the 6th time.

Jericho says he's not afraid of the dark, and there is not a man on this planet that he is afraid of. He's face to face with Taker now, Taker grabs him by the throat, and Jericho fights him off, but gets a big boot and rolls out of the ring. Decent segment, i expected Big Show to come in. No Hadji sadly.

Matt Striker and Todd Grisham talk about Survivor Series and last week's Smackdown regarding Batista's heel turn.


Match 1: Six Man Tag-Team match, one fall.

Dolph Ziggler & The Hart Dynasty VS John Morrison & Cryme Tyme

Good match, lots of fast paced action and nice spots. Match ends when Ziggler hits the zigzag on Shad for the win.

Winners: Dolph Ziggler & The Hart Dynasty

Rey Mysterio sits down for an interview. Mysterio says Batista won't listen to him or logic, that he decided to throw away their friendship and the spirit of Eddie Guerrero (UGH) Mysterio says he's gonna show Batista a side of him, that he never thought existed.

Match 2: Diva's match, one fall.

Beth Phoenix VS Brittany Carter

Another squash. Beth wins.

Winner: Beth Phoenix

Match 3: Singles match, one fall.

Drew Mcintyre VS Jimmy Wang Yang (About damn time he gets some tv time!)

Total squash. Sigh.

Winner: Drew Mcintyre

After the match, Mcintyre attacks Yang and then leaves the ring.

Batista is walking backstage when Josh Matthews stops him for an interview. Batista says he is not here to make friends, he is here to be world heavyweight champion. He blames Mysterio for his loss, and says Matt Hardy should have kept his nose out of his business. He says if he has to hurt anyone to be champion again, then that's what he'll do.

Rey Mysterio is walking backstage, his match is next.

Match 4: Singles match, one fall.

Rey Mysterio VS Mike "Jesus" Knox

Decent match. Knox works great with smaller wrestlers. Mysterio wins with a springboard splash.

Winner: Rey Mysterio

Match 5: Singles match, one fall.

CM Punk VS R-Truth

Good match. Glad to see Truth win a match, regardless of how it's done. (Scott Armstrong fast counts haha)

Winner: R-Truth

Layla, Michelle McCool and Mickie James are backstage. Layla and McCool tell her to leave Smackdown. Mickie says she isn't going anywhere. Mickie says after her team beats McCool's at Survivor Series, she's coming for the women's title.

Matt Hardy is backstage and says Batista needs a reality check. He said he's come here to fight Batista.

Match 6 (Main event): Singles match, one fall.

Matt Hardy VS Batista

Alright match. Mostly dominated by Batista though. Matt wins by DQ when Batista attacks him with a monitor.

Winner: Matt Hardy

Batista walks up the ramp with a smirk on his face as the show closes.
