Please credit David "Wesker" Brootcoorens for this report.
The Vorst Nationaal Arena was officially sold out, although there were some empty chairs. There was a hot crowd all night long. All in all, it was a great night of WWE action for the fourth year in a row. Please, keep coming back, WWE! In the opening bout, ECW champion Christian defeated William Regal in a title match with the Unprettier. Both wrestlers got a great reaction from the crowd. Regal is fantastic with his facial expressions and reactions to the crowd. Incredible but true: some fans were dumb enough to chant "USA, USA", even though a Canadian and British wrestler fought each other on Belgian soil... go figure... Next, Yoshi Tatsu made quick work of Zack Ryder. He pinned him after a swift kick to the head in a short but okay match. A Divas Battle Royal was next. The match included Layla El, Beth Phoenix, Rosa Mendes, Natalya, Katie Lea Burchill and Mickie James. The winner of this match will face Michelle McCool later on the card. Rosa was thrown out first, followed by Layla who took a nasty bump out of the ring. She was escorted to the back by the refs and we all hope she's fine! The lovely Katie Lea was gone next. Natalya and Beth tried to double-team Mickie, but in the end, James eliminated both of them for the win. The Hart Dynasty, who we met earlier today during a meet & greet (they were friendly and easy-going!) lost a tag team match to Cryme Tyme. Shad was double-teamed during the early goings of the match, but was able to make the hot tag to JTG, who cleaned house. In the end, JTG pinned one of the Harts for the win after hitting the Thugnificent. The very menacing Ezekiel Jackson defeated Goldust with his standing Rock Bottom finisher. "Zeke" controlled most of the match and made quick work of the veteran. In a Fatal Four Way for the Intercontinental Title, champion John Morrison fought Matt Hardy, Rey Mysterio and Dolph Ziggler. All the usual high spots were executed, including the 619, to a huge pop (Rey was over big time, and there were a lot of kids with masks in the arena). Ziggler, the only heel in the match was pinned by Morrison after the "Starship Pain (Split Legged Corkscrew Moonsault)". The faces all hugged after the bell. This match was very well received by the fans, and, in my opinion, was the match of the night. After the break, Drew McIntyre spoke to the fans in French, saying he detested our country and that he's a future WWE champion. Please, WWE, half of the Belgian population speaks Dutch, so, it would be cool to acknowledge this for once. The languague border is a hot topic in Belgium! McIntyre defeated veteran Finlay, who posed with our Belgian flag before the bout, with a roll-up and a handful of tights. Special guest ring announcer Savannah introduced us to the competitors in the Diva's Title match. Michelle McCool defeated the beautiful Mickie James in an okay match. Both these women looked absolutely stunning! In the main event, a casket match, The Undertaker defeated CM Punk. 'Taker's music and entrance ánd the crowd's reaction to them send goosebumps down your spine. CM Punk also insulted Belgium by stepping onto our flag and by proclaiming that he's the next "Muscles from Brussels", a nod to the Belgian actor Jean-Claude Van Damme. Back-and-forth match which ended when 'Taker tombstoned CM Punk and rolled him into the casket to end the match. Also a quick 'thank you' to my good friend "Mr. Blu-Ray" Frederiek Amerijckx, who's about to order our tickets for next year's event. Good work, Fredjen! Quick results: - Christian def. William Regal - Yoshi Tatsu def. Zack Ryder - Mickie James won a Divas Battle Royal, also including Katie Lea, Natalya, Beth Phoenix, Layla El and Rosa Mendes - Cryme Tyme def. The Hart Dynasty - Ezekiel Jackson def. Goldust - Drew McIntyre def. Finlay - Michelle McCool def. Mickie James (guest ring announcer: Savannah) - Undertaker def. CM Punk in a casket match See you all next year, on Wednesday November 10th in Brussels, Belgium for another Smackdown/ECW event (but, WWE, we love Smackdown and ECW, but, please, send Raw next)
