Interview Recap: Krissy Vaine


Interview conducted: October 13, 2004

Interview highlights:

- Vaine was a wrestling fan growing, but didn't consider herself as an avid fan of the sport. She saw her first live wrestling show, which was a WWF event, at age eighteen and was hooked.

- She made her managing debut in 2001. She trained to wrestle in 2002, and made her in ring debut in May 2003 against Amber O'Neal.

- Growing up, she played softball and was a high school cheerleader.

- Being in the Carolinas, Vaine grew to the love the Hardy Boyz. She identified Trish Stratus as a wrestling influence.

- She created the Krissy Vaine gimmick herself.

- In her first eight months of ring action, she didn't videotape and critique her matches, which she considers "a horrible mistake." She has every match critiqued and evaluated now.

- She mentioned her theatrical background a strength, which has severed her well in the promos department. She also feels her character and facials are strengths.

- She identified ring psychology as her biggest weakness.

- Vaine has worked for numerous promotions along the east coast. She considers CWF Mid-Atlantic as her home federation. She mentioned that she has valeted for Ring of Honor.

- She has previously wrestled as a heel, but has started doing more work as a babyface.

- Vaine watches all the wrestling she can on television, including collegiate wrestling. When she watches WWE, she pays special attention to the women's matches.

- Vaine doesn't understand why TNA doesn't feature more women on television. She enjoys the six sided ring.

- When she started watching the WWE diva search, she couldn't stand Christy Hemme, but she really grew on her as the competition unfolded. Vaine sees a lot of charisma in Hemme.

- She said her qualifying match for WXW's Elite 8 tournament with O'Neal was her best match so far.

- She loves the business, and wants to become the best wrestler that she can be. She is not limiting her goals to strictly making it to WWE or TNA. "God will take me where I'm supposed to go."

- Vaine models on the side, and even though it pays well, she doesn't enjoy it as well as performing before a live crowd.

- She was thrilled to be apart of the Elite 8 tournament, and selected that as her career highlight.

- Vaine's favorite current female wrestler is Gail Kim. She likes her submission wrestling abilities.

- She considers herself a mat wrestler.

- Greatest match she has ever seen? Vaine picked two. One, Hardys vs. Dudleys vs. Edge and Christian in a TLC match. And secondly, Hogan vs. The Rock from Wrestlemania XVIII.

- Vaine contributes not getting seriously injured to avoiding jumping from the top rope!

- Vaine stated that she wouldn't do any T&A matches, unless it was for WWE, if it would further her wrestling career.

- She doesn't consider herself a sex symbol.

- Vaine is hoping to work internationally someday, and actually had a Japanese tour cancelled.

- Her dream opponent is Trish Stratus.

- Her highest profile match thus far was against April Hunter.

- She is thrilled to be wrestling at the WrestleReunion event at the end of January 2005.

- Vaine and O'Neal have formed a heel tag team called Team Bondage.

- She said she is something like her in ring character, but not to the same extent.

- She doesn't think she is ready for WWE yet. (note: she received a dark match against Jenny Taylor back in December 2004)

- Vaine identified April Hunter, Tracy Brooks, Angel Williams, ODB, O’Neal, and the girls from WXW as some of the best female talent currently on the independent circuit.

- People would be surprised to learn that she is thrifty.

- Krissy attended one semester of college, and decided it wasn't for her. She said she just didn't have the attention span to do it. She has also attended beauty school.

- She has modeled for Wrangler jeans.
