4/3/18 WWE 205 Live Recap: Tozawa/Itami vs. Metalik/Dorado; Nese in Action; Murphy vs. Kalisto; CW Title Tournament Final Preview

205 Live opens with a preview for tonight’s show. We will see Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik vs. Akira Tozawa and Hideo Itami and that Buddy Murphy will go one-on-one with Kalisto. We are informed that we will take an exclusive look at the Finals of the Cruierweight Tournament between Mustafa Ali and Cedric Alexander.

The opening credits play and then Nigel McGuinness and Vic Joseph welcome us to the show.

Match #1 – Tag Team Match: Akira Tozawa and Hideo Itami vs. Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado
Itami and Metalik start the match and Itami takes him down to the mat. Itami slaps Metalik in the back of the head a few times and yells at the crowd to respect him. Itami connects with kicks to the chest and then gets in Dorado’s face. Itami shoves Dorado away, but Metalik kicks him in the face. Metalik takes Itami down and then delivers a quick dropkick. Metalik goes for the cover, but Itami kicks out at two. Dorado tags in and he and Metalik double-team Itami. Dorado connects with a standing moonsault and goes for the cover, but Itami kicks out at two. Metalik tags back in and he works over Itami’s arm. Itami gets free and Tozawa tags in. He takes Metalik down to the mat and delivers a kick to the chest and a senton. Metalik catches him with a roll-up and Tozawa kicks out at two. Tozawa comes back and slams Metalik to the mat and goes for the cover, but Metalik kicks out at two.
Tozawa keeps control and tags in Itami. Tozawa decks Metalik with a right hand and goes for the cover, but Metalik kicks out at two. Itami tags back in and drops Metalik with a knee lift. Itami stomps away on Metalik, but Metalik comes back with slaps and right hands. Itami comes back with kicks, but Metalik delivers a dropkick. Dorado tags in and knocks Tozawa to the floor. Dorado backs Itami into the corner and delivers a spinning heel kick. Dorado delivers a springboard moonsault and sends Itami to the corner and slaps him across the chest. Dorado hits the Golden Rewind, but Itami falls to the floor. Dorado takes Itami out with a suicide dive, but Tozawa takes Dorado out with one as well. Metalik delivers one as well and takes everyone out.
Metalik tosses Itami back into the ring and Dorado goes for the cover, but Itami kicks out at two. Metalik tags in and goes for the Metalik Driver, but Itami grabs his mask to break the hold. Dorado breaks it up and all four men get into the ring and the referee calls for the bell.
Match Result: Double Disqualification.
After the bell, all four men continue to brawl and Itami and Tozawa gain the upper hand and leave Metalik and Dorado lying.

We see Drew Gulak backstage. He says his match with Mark Andrews has been postponed until next week. Gulak says he asked for it to be postponed because he wants Andrews to be 100% when he faces him because he wants no excuses when he completely annihilates Andrews. He says he is the best submission specialist in WWE and if anyone steps up to him, they will tap out.

Andrews responds and says Gulak will wish that he never put his hands on him and he will be sorry that he underestimated the underdog.

We are reminded that Buddy Murphy will go one-on-one with Kalisto later tonight as we head to a break.

Match #2 – Singles Match: Tony Nese vs. Jonathan Pierce
They lock up and Nese tosses Pierce into the corner. Pierce clocks Nese with a quick right hand and then a chop. Nese comes back with a back elbow and then a kick to the midsection. Nese trips Pierce up and chops him against the ropes. Pierce backs away and goes to the floor. Nese takes Pierce down from behind and and then tosses him back into the ring. Nese delivers a springboard moonsault and Pierce rolls to the apron. Pierce drapes Nese over the top rope and then goes up top. Nese cuts him off with an uppercut and then kicks him in the midsection. Nese delivers a gut-buster and then delivers the Running Nese and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Tony Nese.

We see Kalisto, Lince Dorado, and Gran Metalik in the trainers room as the trainers are checking on Dorado’s knee. Kalisto goes to leave, but Buddy Murphy is in his way. Murphy says he only came to 205 Live to win the Cruiserweight Championship and now Kalisto is in his way. Murphy says he will make their match quick so Kalisto can get back to his friends.

Match #3 – Singles Match: Buddy Murphy vs. Kalisto
Murphy applies a side-headlock and takes Kalisto down to the mat. Kalisto comes back with a take down of his own and then they exchange pin attempts and then stand at a stalemate. Murphy drops Kalisto again and applies a wrist-lock down on the mat. Kalisto gets free and they both go for head-scissors take downs, but each land on their feet. They exchange waist-locks, but Murphy tosses Kalisto to the floor. Murphy chases Kalisto, but Kalisto gets back into the ring and drops Murphy with a hurricanrana. Kalisto kicks Murphy in the face and goes up top. Kalisto connects with a corkscrew wrist-lock take down and we are at another stalemate.
Murphy tosses Kalisto into the corner and delivers a right hand to the ribs. Murphy trips Kalisto up and applies an abdominal stretch. Kalisto fights back and kicks Murphy in the side o the head. Kalisto drops Murphy with a tornado DDT and goes for the cover, but Murphy kicks out at two. Kalisto grabs Murphy, but Murphy counters and delivers a running release suplex onto the ring apron. Murphy tosses Kalisto back into the ring and goes for the cover, but Kalisto kicks out at two. Murphy comes off the ropes, but Kalisto counters with a kick to the face to send Murphy to the mat.
Kalisto connects with a back elbow and then goes for a reverse-rana, but Murphy counters and rolls to the floor. Kalisto connects with a suicide dive and tosses Murphy back into the ring. Kalisto delivers a basement-rana and goes for the cover, but Murphy kicks out at one. Murphy shoves Kalisto into the steel steps and then back drops him onto the announce table and Kalisto gets back into the ring at the nine count. Murphy delivers a right hand, as does Kalisto. Kalisto connects with quick strikes, but Murphy comes back with some of his own. Murphy drops Kalisto with a back elbow and a power bomb. Murphy goes for the cover, but Kalisto kicks out at two. Murphy delivers a knee strike and goes for another cover, but Kalisto kicks out at two.
Murphy puts Kalisto on the top rope and goes for the suplex, but Kalisto fights back. Kalisto slams Murphy down to the mat and goes for the cover, but Murphy kicks out at two. Kalisto goes for Solida Del Sol, but Murphy counters and delivers Murphy’s Law and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Buddy Murphy.

We see the 205 Live General Manager, Drake Maverick, backstage. He says the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament was a huge success and he could not be prouder of Mustafa Ali and Cedric Alexander. He says wherever the WWE Universe is at this Sunday, the match everyone will be talking about when they leave this Sunday is Alexander vs. Ali.
