5/3/17 NXT: Killian Dain, Heavy Machinery, Hideo Itami in Action; #1 Contender’s Women’s Battle Royal

NXT opens with the usual opening video, and then Tom Phillips, Percy Watson, and Nigel McGuinness welcome us to the show. We see that Hideo Itami will go one-on-one with Kona Reeves later tonight, and that Asuka’s next challenger will be decided in a Battle Royal.

Match #1: Killian Dain (w/Eric Young) vs. Danny Burch
Burch charges at Dain, but Dain backs him into the corner. Burch connects with a few right hands, but Dain shoves him away. Dain charges, but Burch gets a boot up. Burch gets on the ropes, but Dain pulls him down to the mat. Dain delivers a few clubbing shots to Burch and beats him down to the mat. Burch fight back with more right hands, but Dain shoves him away and then slams him down to the mat again. Dain delivers a senton and then drops a few elbows. Dain delivers one final running elbow and then charges at him across the ring. Burch counters and kicks Dain in the corner. Burch delivers a missile drop kick and then goes for a DDT. Dain shoves him away, but Burch comes back with a headbutt and a European uppercut. Burch backs away and charges, but Dain meets him with a dropkick of his own. Dain takes Burch to the corner and lifts him up and then drops him with the Ulster Plantation and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Killian Dain.

We see footage from earlier today of Hideo Itami arriving to the NXT Arena as we head to a break.

We see a vignette for Patrick Clark, who is billed as the “Velveteen Dream.”

Match #2: Heavy Machinery (Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovic) vs. Ricardo Watts and Hector Huntsman
Dozovic flattens one of the guys immediately and picks him up with ease and drops him with a suplex. Knight tags in and they deliver a double headbutt to the guy. They toss the other guy in the ring and then smash him in the middle of the ring. Knight tosses one of the guys over his head across the ring and then splashes both of them in the corner. Dozovic slams them into each other and then power slams them both down with help of Knight and gets the pin fall.
Winners: Heavy Machinery.
After the match, Machinery grab mics. Knight said they had a real good time just now and they enjoy having good times. He says they also enjoy hitting the buffets in between weight sessions and Dozovic screams, “steaks and weights!” Knight says they are ready for the main course. He says they want The Authors of Pain. Knight says the Authors have beaten every team that have stood before them, but they have never been in the ring with Heavy Machinery. Knight says they are getting real, real hungry and Dozovic says it’s about time that they ate.

We see Bobby Roode talking with Kona Reeves backstage as we head to a break.

We see that “Judas” by Fozzy will be one of the official theme songs for NXT TakeOver: Chicago, which takes place on Saturday, May 20th.

We go backstage with Kayla Braxton and she is joined by #DIY. She asks them for their comments about what Heavy Machinery just said. Gargano says Machinery are big and are guys and can win the prize. Gargano says they may not have the size, but they have won the prize before. Ciampa says they are owed a rightful rematch for the NXT Tag Team Championship and the line starts behind #DIY.

Match #3: Kona Reeves vs. Hideo Itami
Reeves attacks Itami before the bell and stomps away on him in the corner. The referee backs him away and checks on Itami. The bell rings and Reeves charges, but Itami moves out of the way. Reeves drops Itami with a big right hands and then drops him with a back elbow. Reeves goes for the cover, but Itami kicks out at two. Reeves goes for another quick cover, but Itami kicks out again. Reeves mouths Itami and shoves him away and then kicks him in the head. Itami comes back and slaps Reeves in the face and then drops him with a clothesline. Itami connects with a series of kicks and then a back hand to the face. Itami kicks Reeves in the corner numerous times and then delivers a hesitation dropkick in the corner. Itami lifts Reeves and delivers the Go To Sleep and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Hideo Itami.

We are reminded of tonight’s main event, a Battle Royal to determine the new number one contender to the NXT Women’s Championship. We also see that we will take a look at “Who is Roderick Strong: Part 2” after the break.

We see that “Over-throne” by Hacktivist will be one of the official theme songs for NXT TakeOver: Chicago.

We see a video that hypes Drew McIntyre’s return to NXT. We then take a look at “Who is Roderick Strong: Part 2.”

We see Bobby Roode and William Regal backstage. Regal says he wants to discuss Roode’s next opponent for him at NXT TakeOver: Chicago. Roode says Regal is doing a great job and his biggest accomplishment was signing Roode to NXT. He says they both dress nice and Roode is money, while Hideo Itami is dangerous. Regal asks Roode if he is saying that Itami needs to earn the opportunity to face and he says he agrees. Regal sayd Itami will battle Roderick Strong next week, and the winner will go on to face Bobby Roode at NXT TakeOver: Chicago. There is a knock on the door and Strong walks in. He gets face-to-face with Roode before Roode walks out.

We see that Aleister Black will be in action next week.

Match #4: #1 Contender’s (NXT Women’s Championship) Battle Royal: Lacey Evans vs. Billie Kay vs. Peyton Royce vs. Nikki Cross vs. Liv Morgan vs. Ruby Riot vs. Aliyah vs. Sonya Deville vs. Ember Moon vs. Victoria Gonzalez vs. Candice LeRae vs. Rachel Evers vs.
Sarah Bridges vs. Bianca Blair vs. Kimberly Frankele

Battles break out all over the ring. There are 15 women in this Battle Royal. No eliminations as we head to a break. We’re back and we see that Peyton and Billie eliminated Victoria Gonzalez during the break. They then eliminate Bianca Blair. Rachel Evers is eliminated by Aliyah to a chorus of boos from the crowd. Liv Morgan eliminates Sarah Bridges and Sonya Deville and then Peyton Royce and Billie Kay eliminate Sarah and Sonya. Ruby Riot eliminates Kimberly Frankele. Billie Kaye eliminates Candice LeRae. Nikki Cross eliminates Aliyah and Liv Morgan. Ember Moon eliminates Billie Kay and Peyton Royce and we are down to Ember, Ruby, and Nikki. Nikki takes Ruby down as Ember watches, and then Ember takes Nikki down with a dropkick. Nikki turns the tide and puts Ember on the top rope. Ember comes back and powers Nikki down to the mat and then delivers the Eclipse. Ember tries to eliminate Nikki, but Ruby tries to eliminate Ember. Ember fights Ruby off and clotheslines her in the corner. Ember goes up top, but Asuka runs out and knocks her down. Asuka slams Ember into the ring post and then takes Ruby out with a spin kick. Asuka drops Nikki with a kick to the back of the head as well. Asuka says no one is ready for her and looks around at the chaos she just caused. Asuka leaves the ring and runs to the back as referees check on Ember, Ruby, and Nikki.
Match Result: No Contest.
After the match, all three women are still down and Nikki calls Asuka’s name over and over and then points and laughs at Ember on the floor. William Regal comes to the stage with a microphone. He says the NXT Women’s Championship will be defended in a Fatal Four-Way, as Asuka will have to defend her title against Ember Moon, Nikki Cross, and Ruby Riot as NXT comes to a close.
