4/19/17 WWE NXT Recap: Roode/Itami Confrontation, Almas in Action; Dillinger vs. Young in a Steel Cage

Apr 19, 2017 - by Michael Riba

We see the NXT opening video and then go into the NXT Arena at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida where Tom Phillips, Percy Watson, and Nigel McGuinness welcome us to the show.

Bobby Roode’s music hits and the glorious NXT Champion makes his way to the ring. Roode says for the second year in a row, he made WrestleMania Week simply glorious. Roode says he single-handedly sold out the Amway Center in Orlando. He says he gave those 15,000 people the treat of a lifetime because he allowed them to sit there and bare witness to the biggest box office draw in the business today. He says he snuffed out the final little star that was left over from the old NXT and proved that the fate of NXT is in his control. He says the transformation of Bobby Roode’s NXT was finally complete. He says that was until last week when he had to watch Shinsuke Nakamura get into his ring again and receive a standing ovation from the fans and the NXT Superstars. He says we didn’t see him standing on the stage because he wasn’t going to stand there and listen to the crap that came out of Nakamura’s mouth. Roode says Nakamura didn’t leave NXT, he forced Nakamura out of NXT. He says none of the people deserve to be in his NXT and the people on the stage last week don’t belong in his NXT. Roode says they can choose to hop on board and be a part of Bobby Roode’s NXT or they can hit the bricks just like Shinsuke Nakamura did. Hideo Itami’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring.
Itami stares Roode down and then slaps him across the face. Roode laughs and mouths at Itami a bit. Roode sets the title down and takes off his jacket. Roode continues to mouth Itami, but Itami grabs him and nails him with the Go To Sleep. Itami stands tall over Roode as his music hits and we go to replays. Itami picks up the NXT Championship belt and looks at it before setting it back down and leaving the ring.
