2/15/17 NXT Recap: AOP in Action Billie/Peyton vs. Liv/Ember, Tyler Bate Defends UK Title

NXT opens with footage from the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament and then previewing the match tonight between Tyler Bate and Trent Seven, in which Bate will defend the WWE United Kingdom Championship. We then see the NXT opening video and go into the NXT Arena at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, where Tom Phillips, Percy Watson, and Nigel McGuinness welcome us to the show. They preview the UK title match and inform us that we will hear an update on Shinsuke Nakamura later tonight. The Authors of Pain’s music hit and the NXT Tag Team Champions make their way out with Paul Ellering.

Match #1: The Authors of Pain (Akam and Rezar) (w/Paul Ellering) vs. Two Local Competitors
Rexar starts the match and smashes one of the guys in a couple of the corners and then stomps away on him. Rezar brings the other guy in the ring and kicks him in the midsection. Akam gets into the ring as well and they slam the guys into the corners and then Akam tags Rezar back in. They take one of the guys down with the Last Chapter and get the pin fall.
Winners: The Authors of Pain.
After the match, the Authors slam the guys into each other and then power bomb them down to the mat for good measure.

We take a special look at the WWE United Kingdom Champion, Tyler Bate.

Back from the break, we hear that Shinsuke Nakamura has been making progress in the recovery from his knee injury and has been training in the WWE Performance Center.

Match #2: Billie Kay and Peyton Royce vs. Liv Morgan and Ember Moon
Ember and Billie start the match. They tie up and Billie applies a headlock. Ember sends her off the ropes, but Billie takes her down with a shoulder block. Ember comes right back and takes Billie down with a hurricanrana. Ember goes for the cover, but Billie kicks out at one. Ember delivers a chop and then kicks Billie in the chest. Peyton distracts Ember and she and Billie slam Ember down to the mat. Billie goes for the cover, but Ember kicks out at one. Peyton tags in and takes Ember down again and goes for another cover, but Ember kicks out at two. Billie tags back in and chokes Ember in the corner. Ember fights back and takes Billie down with a double under-hook suplex. Liv tags in, as does Peyton. Liv drops Peyton with a couple clotheslines and a dropkick. Liv takes Peyton down with a bulldog and then kicks up. Liv slams Peytond down with an STO and goes for the cover, but Billie breaks it up. Billie delivers a super kick to Ember that sends her to the floor and Peyton slams Liv down to the mat. Peyton drives her knee into Liv’s face as Billie is holding her, and then Billie gets the pin fall as Peyton holds Ember back.
Winners: Billie Kay and Peyton Royce.

We take a look back to last week at the confrontation between Tye Dillinger and SAnitY. We seen an interview with Roderick Strong and No Way Jose, who helped Tye Dillinger last week, from earlier today. Strong says he used to be a guy like the guys in SAnitY, and who knows, maybe he still is, but he had to defend Dillinger because SAnitY likes to use the numbers games. Jose agrees and says whenever SAnitY wants them again, they will be ready.

#DIY’s music hits and Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa make their way to the ring. Ciampa says their dreams came true at NXT TakeOver: Toronto when they won the NXT Tag Team Championship and were voted as NXT Match of the Year. He says their worst nightmares came true when they lost the NXT Tag Team Championship to The Authors of Pain at NXT TakeOver: San Antonio. Gargano says they saw something in the Authors of Pain’s eyes that night: doubt. Gargano says they are ready for another fight and want their rematch. Paul Ellering and The Authors of Pain make their way to the ring. Ellering says if they are so hell-bent on their own destruction, they can have their rematch in two weeks. He tells them to make peace with their loves ones. Ciampa says they have made peace and might as well fight right now. The Revival rush #DIY from behind and they beat down #DIY, but then The Authors of Pain rush the ring and send The Revival running through the crowd.

We take a special look at Trent Seven.

We see a video hype package for the return of Kassius Ohno to NXT.

We join the NXT General Manager, William Regal, backstage. We announces their will be a Triple Threat Match on next week’s show featuring Peyton Royce, Liv Morgan, and Ember Moon, and the winner will be the number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship.

Match #3: WWE United Kingdom Championship Match: Tyler Bate (c) vs. Trent Seven
They tie up and Seven backs Bate into the ropes and then fixes his mustache. They reverse and Bate backs into the ropes and fixes his mustache this time. Bate applies a headlock, but Seven sends him off the ropes. Bate goes for a shoulder block, but Seven doesn’t budge. Bate tries again, but gets the same result. Bate goes for it a third time, but Seven comes back with his own shoulder block and takes Bate down. Seven delivers a big slap in the corner and then slams Bate down to the mat. Seven goes for the cover, but Bate kicks out at one. Seven applies a headlock and then a wrist-lock to Bate and tries to send him across the ring. Bate holds onto the ropes and ducks under Seven and takes him down with a dropkick. Seven rolls to the floor, but Bate goes out after hi and connects with a right hand. Bate tosses Seven back into the ring and applies a headlock and then delivers an elbow as we head to a break.
Back from the break, Bate has a wrist-lock applies to Seven down on the mat. Seven fights to his feet and delivers a few right hands to Bate’s midsection, but Bate gains control back with a few uppercuts in the corner. Bate goes for more uppercuts, but they have no affect on Seven. Seven sends Bate to the corner and charges, but Bate gets his boot up and sends Seven to the outside. Bate runs the ropes and launches himself onto Seven on the floor. Bate tosses Seven back into the ring, but Seven counters with a michinoku driver. Seven goes for the cover, but Bate kicks out at two. Seven grabs Bate and goes for the Seven-Star Lariat, but Bate blocks it. Bate picks Seven up and delivers an airplane spin. Bate goes for a German suplex, but Seven elbows his way out of it. Seven takes Bate down with a dragon suplex and then delivers a power bomb. Seven goes for the cover, but Bate kicks out. Seven immediately applies single-leg Boston crab submission in the middle of the ring. Bate makes it to the ring and delivers a few slaps to Seven as he ducks Seven’s attempts at a backfist. Seven comes right back with hits the Seven-Star Lariat out of nowhere. Seven goes for the cover, but Bate kicks out at two. Seven goes up top, but Bate sends him down with a dropkick. Bate goes on the ropes with Seven and they battle for a bit. Bate takes Seven down with an exploder suplex from the top and goes for the cover, but Seven kicks out at two. Bate grabs Seven and goes for the Tyler Driver 97, but Seven fights out and connects with a few spinning backfists. Bate comes right back with a big kick and then delivers the Tyler Driver 97 and gets the pin fall.
Winner and still WWE United Kingdom Champion: Tyler Bate.
After the match, Bate extends his hand for a handshake, and Seven accepts and then pulls Bate in for a hug and then fixes Bate’s mustache for him one more time. Bate stands tall in the ring with his title overhead as NXT comes to a close.
