6/15/16 NXT Coverage

This week’s NXT opens with highlights from NXT TakeOver: The End, covering all of the matches from last week’s show. We go into the NXT Arena on the campus of Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, and Tom Phillips and Corey Graves welcome us to the show. We see that we will get an exclusive interview with Samoa Joe later tonight, and Finn Balor will address the NXT Universe later on.

Match #1: The Authors of Pain (Gzim Selmani and Sunny Dhinsa) (w/Paul Ellering) vs. Two Local Competitors
The Authors attack their opponents from the bell and send one of them outside. They double-team the other in the ring and then one of them goes to the apron. One of the Authors slams his opponent into the corner and the other guy tags in. The Author takes him to the corner and tags in the other Author. They double-team the guy and then drop him with a side-Russian leg-sweep/clothesline finisher and get the pin fall.
Winners: The Authors of Pain.
After the match, we see very brief highlights from the match.

We go backstage with Cathy Kelley, who is interviewing Andrade Cien Almas. She asks what we can expect from him from here on out. He begins to talk, but Tye Dillinger interrupts and says it was a fluke and calls Almas a “six.” He says he is going to get retribution tonight and prove that Almas is not a perfect ten.

We see that TM-61 (Nick Miller and Shane Thorne) will take on Blake and Murphy later tonight, but Carmella will be in action next.

We see a video hype package for WWE Money in the Bank, which is this upcoming Sunday night.

We see The Authors of Pain and Paul Ellering walking backstage and the backstage interviewer asks Ellering what they are doing here. He says, “In due time,” and walks away.

Match #2: Carmella vs. Tessa Blanchard
They tie up and Blanchard applies a headlock. Carmella reverses into a headlock of her own. Blanchard sends Carmella into the corner and charges, but Carmella counters with a roll-up. Blanchard gets free, but Carmella sends her back down to the mat. Carmella applies another headlock, but Blanchard counters with a right hand. Carmella trips Blanchard up and then taunts her in the ring. Blanchard goes or a clothesline, but Carmella moves. Blanchard grabs Carmella and slams her down to the mat. Blanchard takes Carmella to the corner and delivers a right hand and then applies a submission in the center of the ring. Carmella breaks free, but Blanchard drives her knee into Carmella’s midsection. Carmella comes back and kicks Blanchard in the face and then hits the Bronco Buster in the corner. Carmella delivers a face-buster and then locks in the Code of Silence and Blanchard taps out.
Winner: Carmella.
After the match, we see highlights of the match. Carmella moonwalks in the ring and panders to the crowd as she walks up the ramp.

We see the exclusive interview with Samoa Joe, which took place last week after his Steel Cage Match against Finn Balor. He says he answered all questions and proves he is the undisputed NXT Champion. He says it marks the beginning of his era, and no one has enough to sacrifice to take the title from him.

We go backstage with Cathy Kelley, who is with Blake and Murphy. She asks them if they have resolved their issues. Murphy blames Blake, but Blake says it was all Alexa Bliss’ fault. Murphy says it is all behind them and they look to step back into the tag team division to regain the NXT Tag Team titles. Blake says their first victims will be TM-61.

Match #3: TM-61 (Nick Miller and Shane Thorne) vs. Blake and Murphy
Blake and Thorne start the match with a tie up and then Thorne wrenches the arm of Blake. Blake comes back with a hand to the face and then works on Thorne’s arm. Thorne gets free and takes Blake down to the mat and then kicks Murphy off the apron. Miller tags in and applies a headlock to Blake. Miller back-drops Blake and Thorne tags in. Thorne goes for the cover, but Blake kicks out. Thorne takes Blake to the corner and Miller tags in. Miller applies a headlock and takes Blake down to the mat. Blake gets up and backs Miller into the corner and tags in Murphy. Miller keeps control and Blake gets sent to the floor as Thorne tags in. Thorne goes for a cover, but Murphy kicks out at two. Murphy comes back and clotheslines Thorne. Murphy goes for the cover, but Thorne kicks out. Murphy takes Thorne to the corner and tags in Blake. Blake slams Thorne to the mat and goes for the cover, but Thorne kicks out. Blake slams Thorne in the corner and holds him there as Murphy tags in and connects with a right hand. Murphy goes for the cover, but Thorne kicks out. Down on the mat, Murphy applies a headlock. Thorne gets up, but Murphy connects with an uppercut. Blake tags in, but Thorne takes him down with a kick and then takes Murphy down with a clothesline. Thorne gets to his corner and tags in Miller. Miller takes Blake down with a big clothesline and then a spine-buster. Thorne tags back in and they drop Blake with Thunder Valley and get the pin fall.
Winners: TM-61.
After the match, we see highlights from the match. TM-61 celebrate int he ring as Blake and Murphy shake their heads at each other on the outside.

We look back at The Revival’s celebration after they won the NXT Tag Team Championship for the second time last week. Wilder says they did what they said they were going to do, and Dawson says there is not a tag team in the world that can compete with them.

We are reminded that Finn Balor will address the NXT Universe later on tonight, and we see that Tye Dillinger and Andrade Cien Almas will go one-on-one in a TakeOver: The End rematch next.

We see that Bobby Roode made his in-ring NXT debut at the Download Festival in the UK this past week.

We go back to last month, where Nia Jax defeated Bayley, leaving her injured and out of the NXT Women’s Championship picture. We go backstage with Andrea DeMarco, who is with Bayley. Bayley says if her doctor’s appointment goes well next week, William Regal says she will be able to wrestle again and she says she needs to get back in the Women’s Championship picture.

Match #4: Tye Dillinger vs. Andrade Cien Almas
Almas goes behind Dillinger, but Dillinger wrenches Almas’ arm. Dillinger sends Almas off the ropes, but Almas counters with a handspring elbow. Almas drives his shoulder into Dillinger’s midsection and then connects with a cross body from the top rope, and Dillinger slides to the outside. Almas goes out after him and delivers a couple chops. Almas sends Dillinger back into the ring, but Dillinger counters with a kick and punch combo. Dillinger sends Almas back to the floor and slams him into the ring apron. Dillinger sends Almas back into the ring, but Almas takes him down with a dropkick. Dillinger rolls to the outside and Almas taunts him in the ring. Dillinger gets back into the ring, but Almas takes him down with a hurricanrana and Dillinger goes back to the outside. Almas goes to dive, but Dillinger moves and Almas poses in the ropes as we head to a break.
Back from the break, and Almas is in control. Dillinger counters him and takes him to the corner. Dillinger drives a knee into Almas’ midsection. Almas comes back and takes Dillinger with an arm-drag and then works over Dillinger’s arm down on the mat. Dillinger gets to his feet and backs Almas into the corner and kicks him in the midsection. Dillinger ends Almas to the other corner, but Almas goes over the top and delivers a dropkick to Dillinger. Dillinger comes back and drops Almas to the mat and delivers the back-breaker. Dillinger goes for the cover, but Almas kicks out. Dillinger drives his knee into Almas’ back and then stomps on his face down on the mat. Dillinger rakes the face and eyes of Almas down on the mat and takes him to the corner. Dillinger delivers a couple chops and then stomps him down to the mat. Dillingers headbutts Almas and then kicks him in the back again. Dillinger delivers another chop, but Almas chops him back. Almas flips over Dillinger and sends him to the corner. Almas takes Dillinger down with a dropkick and then delivers elbow shots. Dillinger rolls to the outside and this time Almas flips out onto him. Almas sends Dillinger back into the ring and plants him with a face-buster. Almas delivers double knees in the corner and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Andrade Cien Almas.
After the match, we see highlights from the match and then Almas panders to the crowd.

We see that Finn Balor will address the NXT Universe next and then see a vidoe hype package for the Money in the Bank special event.

Finn Balor’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring. The crowd chants “Thank You Finn” as he grabs a microphone. They then chant “Please Don’t Go” as he soaks it all in. He asks where he starts. He says the very first time he saw NXT, he was sitting at home in Ireland and saw Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady. He made the decision then that he wanted to be a part of NXT. He says then he came here and as much as he became a part of NXT, NXT became a part of him. He says NXT became who he is and he was NXT Champion for 292 days. The crowd chants “You Deserve It” and Finn says he went through wars in NXT with Neville, Tyler Breeze, Kevin Owens, and Samoa Joe. He says here he stands not the champion. He says the question on everybody’s lips is “What is next for Finn Balor?” He repeats the question and the crowd chants “Balor Club.” He throws up the “Too Sweet” hand gesture and says it as well. He asks the question again and the lights go out in the arena. Shinsuke Nakamura’s theme hits and the King of Strong Style makes his way to the ring.
Balor and Nakamura slap hands and the crowd chants “This is Awesome.” Nakamura grabs a mic and tells Finn that they both want some. Nakamura says when he was in Japan, he watched Balor become the icon of NXT. Nakamura says he knows Balor isn’t the champion anymore, but he is still the icon. Nakamura says if he wants to be the champion, he has to beat the icon. Nakamura says he has to beat Finn Balor. Balor steps closer to Nakamura and tells him that Shinsuke has answered the question “What is next for Finn Balor?” Balor says it will be Shinsuke Nakamura versus Finn Balor. They shake hands and stare each other down before Nakamura leaves the ring.

Nakamura and Balor stare each other down one more time as NXT comes to a close.
