South Florida City Submits Bid to Host Future WWE WrestleMania Event

May 27, 2016 - by Staff

South Florida officials have submitted a bid to host either WrestleMania 34 in 2018, WrestleMania 35 in 2019 or WrestleMania 36 in 2020, according to The Miami Herald. They are looking to host WWE’s biggest event at the currently un-named Miami Dolphins’ stadium, which has lost around 10,000 seats during its half-billion dollar renovation.

Local organizers are said to be optimistic about their chances, according to multiple Herald sources. WWE last ran in The Rock’s city for WrestleMania 28 in 2012 at Sun Life Stadium. With WrestleMania 33 confirmed for Orlando next year, WWE likely won’t return to Florida for WrestleMania 34 in 2018.

The bid submitted is a collaborative effort among the Dolphins, the AmericanAirlines Arena/HEAT Group, the Miami Beach Convention Center and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau. The bid was submitted back in February and they are still waiting to hear from WWE.
