NXT Coverage – 4/13/16

NXT opens with William Regal in his office. He announces that Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano will face The Vaudevillains and that Bayley will be in action as well. He adds that Shinsuke Nakamura will make his NXT TV debut. We see the usual opening video and Corey Graves and Tom Phillips welcome us to the show from Dallas, Texas.

Match 1: Austin Aries vs. Angelo Dawkins
They tie up and Dawkins wrenches Aries’ arm. Aries comes back with a side-headlock. Dawkins goes behind and drops Aries down to the mat. Dawkins throws his headbands at Aries, but Aries throws them right back. Dawkins wrenches Aries’ arm again, but Aries counters and takes Dawkins down to the mat. Aries goes for the cover, but Dawkins kicks out at one, and then at two on another pin attempt. Aries gets Dawkins in a side-headlock, but Dawkins sends him off the ropes and takes him down. Dawkins comes off the ropes, but Aries counters with a couple arm-drags. Aries dropkicks Dawkins down to the mat. Aries stomps away on Dawkins in the corner, but the referee pulls him off and Dawkins drops Aries with a clothesline. Dawkins stomps away on Aries down on the mat and drops him to the mat and locks in a front face-lock. Aries gets to his feet and backs Dawkins into the corner, but Dawkins keeps control with a series of clubbing shots. Dawkins backs away and charges, but Aries moves and Dawkins hits the turnbuckle. Aries connects with a series or forearm shots and then drops Dawkins with a clothesline. Aries takes Dawkins to the ropes and drops him with a neck-breaker over the middle rope. Aries comes off the top with a missile dropkick and takes Dawkins down. Aries dropkicks Dawkins in the corner and then a spinning elbow for the pin fall.
Winner: Austin Aries.

We see Samoa Joe backstage. He said nothing has changed because Finn Balor has “escaped” him twice. He says he is a warrior, and he will continue his war, and he will bring his war to Apollo Crews next week on NXT. We see that Shinsuke Nakamura will take on Tye DIllinger later tonight as we head to a break.

Back from the break, and we get the hype package for No Way Jose, only this time is ends with “Next Week.”

Match 2: Alexa Bliss vs. Tessa Blanchard
They tie up and neither woman gains the advantage. Alexa goes behind and takes Tessa down with a front face-lock. Tessa fights to her feet and works over Alexa’s arm, but Alexa gets free and shoves her away. Tessa takes Alexa down with a shoulder tackle and goes for the cover, but Alexa kicks out at one. Tessa picks Alexa up and drops her with a scoop slam. Alexa comes back and delivers a forearm to Tessa. Alexa goes for the cover, but Tessa kicks out at one. Alexa chokes Tessa over the middle rope and then stomps down on her back and neck. Alexa clubs Tessa on the back and then takes her down with a side headlock. Tessa fights to her feet, but Alexa keeps the headlock on. Tessa gets to her feet again and rolls Alexa up, but Alexa kicks out at two. Alexa drives a knee into Tessa’s midsection and goes to slap her across the face. Tessa stops her and takes her down with a few clotheslines and a neck-breaker. Tessa charges in the corner, but Alexa moves and slams Tessa down to the mat. Alexa connects with the springboard double-knee drop and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Alexa Bliss.

We go backstage and see Finn Balor. He says it is his job to fight as the NXT Champion, and it doesn’t matter who or where it is. He says he carries that responsibility with pride. He says he is going to stick around for Shinsuke Nakamura’s TV debut, and he has been a fan of his for a long time. Balor says he knows Nakamura came for the NXT Championship, and when Nakamura is ready, he will be ready too. We head to another break.

Match #3: Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano vs. The Vaudevillains
Simon Gotch and Gargano start the match. Gargano takes Gotch down with an arm-drag and works over Gotch’s arm. Gotch gets to his feet, but Gargano takes him down again. Gargano goes for a quick roll-up, but Gotch kicks out at two. Gotch knocks Gargano back with a forearm shot and tags in Aiden English. English sends Gargano into the corner, but Gargano comes back and kicks English in the face. Gargano goes for the cover, but English kicks out at two. Gargano tags in Ciampa, who drops English with a big clothesline. Ciampa goes for the cover, but English kicks out at two. Gargano tags back in and English gets sent to the floor. Gotch checks on English, but Gargano dives to the outside and takes out both of them. Back in the ring, English attacks Gargano and then tags in Gotch. Gotch stomps down on Gargano and works over his arm. Gargano gets to his feet, but Gotch takes him back down and tags in English. English stomps on Gargano and goes for the cover, but Gargano kicks out at one. English works over Gargano’s arm, but Gargano gets to his feet. English grabs Gargano and slams him down to the mat. English stomps away on Gargano and then tosses him into the corner. English charges, but Gargano gets his knees up. Gargano knocks Gotch to the floor and tags in Ciampa. Ciampa drops English with a face-buster from the top rope, but English kicks out at two. Gotch tags in and Gargano takes English to the outside. Ciampa and Gotch exchange roll-ups for two and then Ciampa locks in the arm-bar on Gotch and Gotch quickly taps out.
Winners: Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano.

We see Tye Dillinger backstage. He says Shinsuke Nakamura competes against him tonight and says the guy is great. Dillinger says if Nakamura thinks he can dance he way through NXT and DIllinger, he’s mistaken. Dillinger says when he sends Nakamura back to Japan, Nakamura will be able to tell everyone what it was like to lose to a perfect ten. We go to another break.

Match #4: Tucker Knight vs. Baron Corbin
They tie up and Corbin backs Knight into the corner. Corbin delivers a few right hands and then slams Knight into the turnbuckle. COrbin delivers a back elbow and then takes Knight down to the mat. Corbin elbows Knight in the face and then delivers a right hand. Corbin charges, but Knight catches him with an elbow. Knight takes Corbin to the corner and then sends him off the ropes. Knight connects with a Thesz Press, but Corbin comes back and takes Knight down to the mat. Corbin picks Knight up and connects with the End of Days for the pin fall.
Winner: Baron Corbin.

We see a pre-recorded segment with American Alpha. Chad Gable says they are standing on the same stage as The Beatles did. Jason Jordan says they are in the place where they won the NXT Tag Team Championship. Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady walk up. Enzo says they have been here longer than anybody, and Cass said they have faced all the tag teams in NXT except for American Alpha. They all agree to a match and shake hands before Enzo and Cass walk away.

Match #5: Bayley vs. Liv Morgan
They tie up and Bayley goes to work on Liv’s arm. Liv comes back and takes Bayley down to the mat. Bayley rolls out and wrenches Liv’s arm again. Bayley sends Liv off the ropes and then takes her down to the mat. Bayley delivers an elbow to Liv’s back and then a short clothesline. Bayley goes for the knee drop, but Liv moves out of the way. Liv comes off the ropes and takes Bayley down with a tilt-a-whirl hurricanrana. Bayley comes back and takes Liv down to the mat and applies a headlock. Bayley backs Liv into the corner and drives her shoulder into her midsection. Bayley goes for it again, but Liv moves out of the way. Liv drops Bayley with a shoulder block and then a bulldog. Liv monkey flips Bayley out of the corner and goes for an atomic bomb, but Bayley counters into the Bayley-to-Belly for the pin fall.
Winner: Bayley.
After the match, Bayley grabs a microphone and thanks the fans. She says a true champion is not measure by who many times they get knocked down, but how many times they get back up. She says she lost to an amazing competitor in Asuka and that makes some of the fans angry and it makes her angry too, but she doesn’t want the fans to feel sorry for her because she will be the NXT Women’s Champion again. She says she is still standing and she will continue to stand for each and every person in the NXT Universe.

We see that Shinsuke Nakamura and Tye DIllinger will go one-on-one after the break.

Back from the break, we see that American Alpha will take on Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady next week, as well as Samoa Joe going one-on-one with Apollo Crews.

Match #6: Tye Dillinger vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
Dillinger takes Nakamura down and does the “ten” taunt in his face. Nakamura asks the referee what he said and Dillinger tells Nakamura to bring it on. Nakamura takes Dillinger to the ropes and then takes him down to the mat. Dillinger sulks into the corner and then drives a knee into Dillinger’s test. Dillinger goes under the bottom rope, but Nakamura pulls him back into the ring. Dillinger rakes Nakamura’s eyes and connects with a super kick. Dillinger goes for the cover, but Nakamura kicks out at two. Dillinger drives his knee into Nakamura’s back and then applies a chin-lock. Nakamura fights to his feet and kicks Dillinger in the head. Nakamura connects with a right hand and then the vibrations in the corner. Nakamura knees Dillinger in the ribs and then shoves him down to the mat. Nakamura hits the Kinshasa and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura.

NXT comes to a close with Nakamura celebrating in the ring as the crowd chants his name.
