The Rock Starring In Another Disney Movie
– The Hollywood Reporter reports that The Rock is teaming up with Disney for another movie and this one will translate the classic Jungle Cruise theme-park ride to the big screen.
John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, the writers behind the Will Smith heist movie Focus, are writing the script. The movie is in early development and there’s no word yet on when Rock may film it.
Disney has been trying to get a movie going based on the ride since 2004. The ride is one of Disneyland’s original rides, featuring a retro adventure theme. It takes riders into various African settings, such as the Nile and Congo rivers. The movie is not set in modern times.
The Rock commented:
“[Disney production president] Sean Bailey and Disney have been awesome partners and now the fun part begins … We’re starting to put in the work with Requa and Ficarra and our creative team. Fired up about this one. Here we go.”
