1998 – The Monday Night War continued: WCW Monday Nitro defeated WWF Monday Night Raw: 4.5 to 4.0 in the ratings

2009 Carl De Marco, who for years was the President of WWE Canada, departed the company

2012  reported that WWE Hall of Famer Tammy “Sunny” Sytch had been arrested 3 times over the last 3 days for incidents related to domestic violence. Sytch was arrested on Tuesday 9/11 at 8:55 PM for disorderly conduct after an incident with then boyfriend independent wrestler Damien Darling in his Branford, CT home.  Sytch was released on $500 bond the next day, only to be arrested again on Tuesday 9/12 at 4:49 PM after another incident with the same unidentified male & charged with disorderly conduct a second time as well as third degree strangulation & violating a restraining order.  On Wednesday 9/13, Sytch was released after posting a $25,000 bond & was arrested at 8 PM that evening for again violating the restraining order against her.  Sytch underwent a WWE-sponsored rehab stay the previous month


In 1939, the EMLL 6th Anniversary Show was held in Mexico City. Records of this event are sketchy at best, so I have only included the one confirmed match:

– Bob Arreola defeated Ciclon Veloz Sr. to win the Mexican Welterweight Title

In 1997, WCW Fall Brawl was held at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. With an attendance of 11,939:

– Eddy Guerrero defeated Chris Jericho to win the WCW Cruiserweight Title
The Steiner Brothers (with Ted Dibiase) defeated Harlem Heat (Stevie Ray & Booker T)
– Alex Wright defeated Ultimo Dragon to retain the WCW Television Title
Jeff Jarrett (with Debra) defeated Dean Malenko
Wrath & Mortis (Bryan Clark & Chris Kanyon) (with James Vanderberg) defeated The Faces of Fear (Meng & The Barbarian)
The Giant defeated Scott Norton
– Lex Luger & Diamond Dallas Page defeated Scott Hall & Randy Savage (with Miss Elizabeth) in a No-DQ Match
– The nWo (Buff Bagwell, Kevin Nash, Syxx, & Konnan) defeated The Four Horsemen (Chris Benoit, Steve McMichael, Ric Flair, & Curt Hennig) in a WarGames Match when Hennig turned on his team

Also in 1997, the first AAA Verano de Escandolo was held in Tonala, Mexico:

– Xochitl Hamada defeated La Practicante in a Hair vs Hair Match
– Octagon, Mascara Sagrada Jr., & Latin Lover defeated Fuerza Guerrera, Killer, & Blue Panther
– El Canek defeated Cibernetico in a Cage Match
– Perro Aguayo, Perro Aguayo Jr., & Heavy Metal defeated Sangre Chicano, El Picudo, & El Cobarde in a Hair vs Hair Cage Match. As Cobarde was the last man in the cage, he was forced to shave his head

In 2008, TNA No Surrender was held at the General Motors Centre, in Oshawa, Canada, making it the 1st TNA PPV to be held outside the USA. With an attendance of 3,500:

The Prince Justice Brotherhood (Super Eric, Shark Boy, & Curry Man) defeated The Rock ‘n Rave Infection (Christy Hemme, Lance Rock, & Jimmy Rave) in a 6-person Intergender Tag Team Match
– Awesome Kong (with Raisha Saeed) defeated ODB in a Falls Count Anywhere Match
Abyss & Matt Morgan defeated Team 3D (Brother Ray & Brother Devon)
– Sheik Abdul Bashir defeated Petey Williams (with Rhaka Khan) & Consequences Creed in a 3-Way Match to win the TNA X-Division Title
– Taylor Wilde (with Rhino) defeated Angelina Love (with Cute Kip & Velvet Sky) to retain the TNA Knockouts Title
– Sonjay Dutt defeated Jay Lethal in a Ladder of Love Match

Title Changes

1991 – Chaz defeated The Lightning Kid (Sean Waltman) to win the Global Wrestling Federation Light Heavyweight Title in Dallas, Texas

1993 – on Raw, The Quebecers (Pierre & Jacques) defeated The Steiner Brothers (Rick & Scott) in a Province of Quebec Rules Match to win the WWF Tag Team Titles

1993 – Tatanka defeated Jerry Lawler to win the USWA Unified World Heavyweight Title. On the same show, Tommy Rich defeated Jeff Jarrett for the USWA Southern Heavyweight Title, & The Dogcatchers defeated The Moondogs to win the USWA Tag Team Title

1996 – Pat & CW Anderson defeated The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) to win the vacant NWA Tag Team Titles

1998 – on Nitro, Billy Kidman defeated Juventud Guerrera to win the WCW Cruiserweight Title

1999 – Smackdown taping, Vince McMahon defeated Triple H to win the WWF World Heavyweight Title in Las Vegas, Nevada. McMahon would vacate the title the following Monday on Raw

2008 – Bryan Danielson defeated Yoshinobu Kanemaru to win the GHC Junior Heavyweight Title
