1999 – The Monday Night continued: WWF Monday Night Raw defeated WCW Monday Nitro: 6.0 to 3.3

2001 – WWF Smackdown took place live from the Compaq Center in Houston, Texas. The show was originally supposed to be taped on September 11th, but was postponed due to the terrorist attacks. It was the 1st live televised event to feature a large gathering of people in the U.S. following the attacks, & Vince McMahon addressed the crowd before the show began. The show did not air in many Northeast markets, due to continuing news coverage of events in New York City

2005 – WWE released Million Dollar Tough Enough winner Daniel Puder after just 1 year of being under contract, so he didn’t make his million

2009 World Wrestling Entertainment released several developmental talents, including Kris Logan (Brian Cage), Fletcher Chase (Jason Garrison), Troy Jackman (Ian Richardson), & Aiden Frost (Jason Riggs)


In 1998, WCW Fall Brawl: War Games was held at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. With an attendance of 11,528:

– The British Bulldog & Jim Neidhart defeated The Dancing Fools (Alex Wright & Disco Inferno) (Bulldog broke his back in this match, when he was backdropped on a trap door set up in the ring for Warrior’s entrance in the main event. He nearly died do to an infected b/c of it)
– Chris Jericho defeated a fake Goldberg to retain the WCW Television Title
– Ernest Miller defeated Norman Smiley
– Scott Steiner (Buff Bagwell) fought Rick Steiner to a no contest
– Juventud Guerrera defeated Silver King to retain the WCW Cruiserweight Title
– Saturn defeated Raven (with Kanyon & Lodi) in a Raven’s Rules Match to free The Flock
– Dean Malenko defeated Curt Hennig (with Rick Rude) via DQ
– Konnan defeated Scott Hall (with Vincent)
– Team WCW (Diamond Dallas Page, Roddy Piper, & The Warrior) defeated nWo Hollywood (Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, & Stevie Ray), & nWo Wolfpac (Kevin Nash, Sting, & Lex Luger) in a WarGames Match. This was the 1st WarGames Match where pinfalls were allowed & indeed, it ended with Page pinning Ray

In 2002, the CMLL 69th Anniversary Show was held in Mexico City:

– Brazo de Plata, Atlantis, & Rayo de Jalisco Jr. defeated Cien Caras, Universo 2000, & Dr. Wagner Jr. via DQ
– Pierroth Jr. defeated Mascara Ano 2000 via DQ
– Ultimo Guerrero & Rey Bucanero defeated Vampiro & Shocker to retain the CMLL Tag Team Titles
– Tarzan Boy defeated Negro Casas in a Hair vs Hair Match

In 2009, the 1st WWE Breaking Point was held at the Bell Centre, in Montreal, Canada. With an attendance of 12,000. This was the 2nd of WWE’s new match-specific PPV’s, with this 1 focusing on the submission match & its variants:

Evan Bourne defeated Chavo Guerrero Jr.
Breaking Point:
– Jeri-Show (Chris Jericho & The Big Show) defeated The World’s Strongest Tag Team (MVP & Mark Henry) to retain the WWE Unified Tag Team Titles
– Kofi Kingston defeated The Miz to retain the WWE United States Title
– The Legacy (Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase) defeated D-Generation X (Triple H & Shawn Michaels) in a Submissions Count Anywhere Match
– Kane defeated The Great Khali (with Ranjin Singh) in a Singapore Cane Match
– Christian defeated William Regal to retain the ECW Title
– John Cena defeated Randy Orton in an I Quit Match to win the WWE Title
– CM Punk defeated The Undertaker in a Submission Match to retain the World Heavyweight Title

Title Changes

1987 – Eric Embry defeated Peter Vander Graling to become the 1st WCCW World Light Heavyweight Champion

1993 – Robert Gibson defeated Jimmy Del Ray to win the SMW Television Title, but is immediately defeated by The Dirty White Boy

1998 – Rayo de Jalisco Jr. defeated Universo 2000 to win the CMLL World Heavyweight Title

1998 – on Nitro, Billy Kidman defeated Juventud Guerrera for the WCW Cruiserweight Title Greenville, South Carolina

1999 – on Nitro, Chris Benoit defeated Rick Steiner to win the WCW Television Title

2003 – Shane Douglas defeated D’Lo Brown to win the Border City Wrestling Can-Am Title in Belleville, Michigan

2007 – Takeshi Rikio & Jun Akiyama vacated the GHC Tag Team Titles after Rikio suffers a neck injury
