9/3/14 Impact Wrestling Coverage

We see a video replay of the battle between Bobby Roode and Eric Young, who will face off in a #1 Contender’s match later on tonight. We go into the arena, where we are joined by Kenny King, MVP, and the TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Bobby Lashley. MVP grabs the mic and talks up MVP and talks about he will be the best TNA Champion ever, but is then interrupted by Samoa Joe. Joe says Lashley has decimated a lot of guys along the way, but he is nowhere as tough as Joe is. Joe challenges Lashley to a fight tonight, but MVP says he can’t deal with Lashley. Joe pops Lashley in the face, but Lashley, MVP, and King beat him down and then security holds Joe back. MVP, Lashley, and King leave the ring, but then MVP accepts Joe’s challenge.

We see a highlight history of Taryn Terrell and Gail Kim.

Match 1: TNA Women’s Knockout Championship Match: Gail Kim (c) vs. Taryn Terrell
Gail and Taryn have a good back-and-forth encounter. Gail catches Taryn with the Eat Defeat and gets the pin fall.
Winner and still TNA Women’s Knockout Champion: Gail Kim.
After the match, a debuting Havok comes from the back and destroys both Gail and Taryn.

We go backstage and we see Eric Young and MVP bickering. MVP tries to drive a wedge between Eric Young and Bobby Roode.

We then see Ethan Carter III walking backstage as we go to a commercial.

We see the Bro-Mans talking about which Knockouts they got matched up with.

We go into the arena where EC3 in the ring with Rockstar Spud. Carter begins talking about how great he is and how he can’t believe the people would cheer when his Aunt Dixie was put through a table. He makes a list of demands that includes Bully Ray being fired. Rhino interrupts and demands a match against EC3, but gets one against Rockstar Spud instead.

We go backstage and we see Samuel Shaw, with Rebel staring at him and twirling her hair. Gunner walks up and asks him what last week was about. Shaw apologizes and Gunner accept. They will be in action against Bram and Magnus next.

Match #2: Bram and Magnus vs. Gunner and Samuel Shaw
Gunner and Shaw control most of the short match, but Shaw is not able to help Gunner when he tweaks his knee toward the end of the match. After Gunner tweaks his knee, Bram rolls him up for the pin fall.
Winners: Bram and Magnus.
After the match, Shaw screams at Bram and Magnus before Gunner can calm him down.

We go backstage and we see Bobby Roode warming up. MVP walks up and asks Roode how he knows Eric Young won’t cheat to win tonight, still trying to drive a wedge between Roode and Young. Roode and Young go one-on-one next.

We go back to the Bro-Mans, and we see that the girls they have been talking about are The Beautiful People, Angelina Love and Velvet Sky.

Match #3: #1 Contender’s (TNA World Heavyweight Championship) Match: Bobby Roode vs. Eric Young.
The beginning of the match is pretty back and forth, with both men exchanging the offensive moves and the headlocks down on the mat. Young goes for a Piledriver, but Roode elevates him to the apron of the ring. Roode pulls Young back into the ring and stomps away on him before picking him up. Roode slams Young down to the mat again and then applies a modified arm-bar submission. Young fights out and drops Roode with a dropkick. Young goes up top and connects with a missile dropkick this time. Young goes for the cover, but Roode kicks out at two. Roode comes back and connects with an inverted atomic drop on Young and then drops him with a big clothesline. Roode goes up top and then takes Young down with a flying neck-breaker. Roode connects with the Double R spinebuster and goes for the cover, but Young kicks out at two. Roode applies the cross-face, but Young fights out and rolls Roode up, and Roode kicks out at two. Young drops Roode with a DDT and goes for the cover, but Roode kicks out at two. The men trade near fall after near fall and Roode drops Young with the Roode Bomb and gets the pin fall.
Winner and number one contender: Bobby Roode.
After the match, Roode and Young share a handshake and a hug. Young leaves the ring as Roode celebrates.

We go backstage and wee Bobby Roode. He begins talking about his match with Eric Young, but Lashley walks up and they have a stare down.

We are with Jeremy Borash, who brings in Team 3D. He says they have chosen a Tables Match for the next in the series with The Wolves and The Hardys.

Match #4: #1 Contender’s (TNA X Division Championship) Six-Way Match: Manik, Crazzy Steve, DJ Z, Homicide, Tigre Uno, and Low Ki
This was your standard X Division multi-man match with Homicide getting the win on Manik.
After the match, James Storm and “The Great” Sanada come to the ring area. Sanada superkicks Manik and tosses him out to the floor, where he and Storm drag him to the back.

We’re back and Austin Aries is in the ring. He calls out James Storm and Sanada. Storm comes out talking and says he re-images the X Division guys when he takes them under his wing. Aries says Storm has pissed off the Impact fans and that Sanada has pissed off Japan. Aries brings out Tajiri, and all four men begin to brawl. Tajiri and Aries get the upperhand and Storm and Sanada scramble out of the ring and stare down Aries and Tajiri.

Match #5: Rhino vs. Rockstar Spud
Rhino dominates the entire match and puts Spud down with a Gore. Rhino stares down Ethan Carter III after the match. EC3 walks away and leaves Spud behind. Carter stares back at Rhino.

We see Lashley and Samoa Joe walking backstage. They will do battle next.

Match #6: Bobby Lashley vs. Samoa Joe
Pretty average match here with Samoa Joe in control until Kenny King saves the day for Lashley. Lashley powers down Joe and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Bobby Lashley.
