In Memoriam

In 1998,  Maryland Championship Wrestling wrestler Shane Shamrock was shot & killed during an altercation with police officers. As a result of his death, the MCW Light Heavyweight Title, which he held at the time, was retired. Each year, MCW holds the Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup tournament in his honor

Also in 1998, 1998 – Terry Garvin dies at age 61

On this day in 2005, the wrestling world lost one-time CZW Tag Champion Chri$ Ca$h aged just 23. Ca$h came through the CZW Academy under Jon Dahmer and would go on to wrestle his entire career with the promotion, as well as a few indy appearances in various promotions. He briefly challenged for the CZW Junior Heavyweight Title in 2003, but would have to wait another year before winning his one & only professional wrestling championship, as he teamed with Sexxxy Eddy, Nate Webb, & JC Bailey to defeat The BLK OUT to win the CZW Tag Team Titles. Ca$h was scheduled to compete for the Ultraviolent Underground Title, but injuries suffered in a car accident forced him out of the match, & he wouldn’t return before he died in a motorcycle accident. He was a passenger on his cousin’s bike when a car turned in front of them. The bike hit the passenger side of the car square on, both riders were thrown from the bike & both died at the scene of their injuries. The driver of the car also later died on his way to hospital. CZW has held the Chri$ Ca$h Memorial Show every year since
