1980 – Bill Irwin defeated Bill Dundee to win the AWA Southern Heavyweight Title in Memphis, Tennessee

1986 – Steve Simpson defeated Buzz Sawyer to win the WCCW Television Title

1989 – Jeff Jarrett & Matt Bourne defeated Cactus Jack & Sheik Braddock to win the USWA Tag Team Title in Dallas, Texas

1990 – Brian Lee & Don Harris defeated Rex King & Joey Maggs to win the USWA Tag Team Title in Memphis, Tennessee

1990 – D.J. Peterson & The Trooper (aka The Patriot) defeated Wayne Bloom & Mike Enos to win the AWA World Tag Team Title in Rochester, Minnesota.  Peterson & Trooper would be the final AWA Tag Champions, as the company would shut down in 1991

2002 – the WWE Hardcore Title is passed from Tommy Dreamer to Shawn Stasiak, to Steven Richards, & back to Dreamer

2004 – Petey Williams defeated Amazing Red in the final of a Gauntlet for the Gold to win the TNA X-Division Title in Nashville, Tennessee

2008 – on Raw, Legacy (Ted DiBiase Jr & Cody Rhodes) defeated Batista & John Cena to win the World Tag Team Titles

In Memoriam

In 2011. former boxer turned professional wrestler Scott LeDoux, who worked for Verne Gagne’s AWA, passed away due to complications from ALS
