1960 – After 38 years of operation, Boston’s American Wrestling Association closed

1992 – Vince McMahon announced the disbanding of the WBF

1996 – The Monday Night War continued: WCW Monday Nitro defeated WWF Monday Night Raw: 3.4 to 2.6 in the ratings

2002 – Live on Monday Night Raw, Vince McMahon introduced former WCW President Eric Bischoff as the new RAW General Manager in 1 of the most shocking moments in pro wrestling history

2006 – Brock Lesnar was stripped of the IWGP Heavyweight Title by New Japan Pro Wrestling. Lesnar and New Japan management had a disagreement regarding a defense against Hiroshi Tanahashi, scheduled to take place on July 17, resulting in Lesnar quitting the promotion

2009 –TNA signed Bobby Lashley


In 1995, ECW Heat Wave was held at the ECW Arena, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This was the 1st of 6 annual “Heat Wave” events:

– Mikey Whipwreck defeated Mike Norman
– Don E. Allen & Tony Stetson defeated ECW World Tag Team Champions Stevie Richards & Raven via countout
– Hack Myers defeated Val Puccio
– Tommy Dreamer & The Pitbulls (#1 & #2) defeated The Dudleys (D-Von & Snot), & Raven
– Dean Malenko & 2 Cold Scorpio defeated ECW World Television Champion Eddie Guerrero & Taz
– The Sandman defeated Axl Rotten to retain the ECW World Title
– Luna Vachon defeated ECW World Tag Team Champion Stevie Richards by submission in a Steel Cage match
– The Gangstas (New Jack & Mustafa Saed) defeated The Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge & Rocco Rock) in a Steel Cage match

In 1996, AAA TripleMania IV-C was held in Madero, Mexico:

– La Parka, Winners, Super Calo, & El Mexicano defeated Jerry Estrada, Fishman, Villano IV, & May Flowers
– Rey Misterio Jr defeated Juventud Guerrera
– Perro Aguayo, Villano III, & Villano IV defeated Octagon, Psicosis, & Cibernetico via DQ
– Pierroth Jr. defeated Konnan in a Dog Collar Match
– Los Payasos (Coco Rojo, Coco Verde, & Coco Amarillo) & Karis la Momia defeated Los Junior Atomicos (Mascara Sagrada Jr, Tinieblas Jr., Blue Demon Jr., & Halcon Dorado Jr.) in a Mask vs Mask Cage Match. Halcon Dorado Jr. was the last person left in the cage, so was forced to unmask

In 2007, AAA TripleMania XV was held in Naucalpan, Mexico. The 1st inductees into the AAA Hall of Fame were announced at this show; Antonio Pena & Rey Misterio Jr.:

– The Mexican Powers (Crazy Boy & Joe Lider) defeated The Black Family (Dark Cuervo & Dark Ozz) to win the AAA World Tag Team Titles
– Laredo Kid & Gran Apache defeated Super Fly & Super Calo
– Super Fly defeated Super Calo in a Mask vs Mask Match
– El Alebrije, Brazo de Plata, & El Elegido defeated Los Guapos VIP (Alan Stone, Scorpio Jr., & Zumbido) via DQ
– La Legion Extranjera (Head Hunter I, Ron Killings, Rikishi Phatu, & Sabu) defeated The Animal, Latin Lover, La Parka, & El Zorro
– Los Hell Brothers (Charly Manson, Chessman & Cibernetico) defeated La Legion Extranjera (El Mesias, Sean Waltman & Kenzo Suzuki) in a Domo de La Muerte Cage Match. Kenzo Suzuki was the last man in the cage, so was forced to shave his head

– James Storm defeated Rhino (Jackie Moore was banned from ringside)

In 2012, WWE Money In The Bank was held in Phoenix, Arizona. The main event was billed as a 4-Way Match, but The Miz made his return to WWE at the event and inserted himself into the match. Also, Kane set the record for competing in the most Money In The Bank matches, with 6:

1965 – Giant Baba & Toyonobori defeated The Destroyer & Billy Red Lyons to win the JWA All Asia Tag Team Titles

1966 – Brute Bernard & Skull Murphy defeated Mark Lewin & Dominic DeNucci to win the International Wrestling Alliance World Tag Team Title in Sydney, Australia

1967 – Nebraska Heavyweight Champion Bob Orton Sr. defeated Doug Gilbert in Omaha, Nebraska to become the 1st AWA Midwest Heavyweight Champion. The title was unified with the Nebraska title, ending its lineage

1985 – King Parsons defeated Tim Brooks to win the WCCW Television Title

1986 – Ron Bass defeated Kendall Windham to win the NWA Florida Heavyweight Title in Tampa, Florida

1988 – Genichiro Tenryu & Shiro Koshinaka defeated Cho-Ten (Masahiro Chono & Hiroyoshi Tenzan) to win the IWGP Tag Team Titles

1989 – Ivan Koloff defeated Invader I to win the WWC Puerto Rico Heavyweight Title in Caguas, Puerto Rico

2002 – Johnny Stamboli defeated Bradshaw to win the WWE Hardcore Title, but would lose it back to Bradshaw later in the night
