1997 – The Monday Night War continued: WCW Monday Nitro defeated WWF Monday Night Raw: 3.4 to 2.5 in the ratings

2009 – Edge underwent surgery to repair his torn Achilles heel.  The surgery & recovery would keep him out of the ring through the 2010 Royal Rumble


In 1990, NWA’s The Great American Bash, was held at the Baltimore Arena, in Baltimore, Maryland. With an attendance of 10,000. This was the final Bash promoted under the NWA banner. The 1991 event would still be produced by WCW, but with no NWA involvement:

– Doom (Ron Simmons & Butch Reed) (with Teddy Long) defeated The Rock n Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) to retain the NWA World Tag Team Titles
– Sting (with The Dudes With Attitudes) defeated Ric Flair (with Ole Anderson) to win the NWA World Title

In 1996, WCW Bash at the Beach, held at the Ocean Center, in Daytona Beach, Florida. With an attendance of 8,300. It has gone down in history as the event where Hulk Hogan turned heel, & formed the nWo:

– The Rock n Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) defeated Fire & Ice (Scott Norton & Ice Train)
– Eddie Guerrero defeated Lord Steven Regal
– Rey Misterio Jr. defeated Psychosis
– John Tenta defeated Big Bubba (with Jimmy Hart) in a Carson City Silver Dollar Match
– Diamond Dallas Page defeated Jim Duggan in a Taped Fist Match
– The Nasty Boys (Jerry Sags & Brian Knobs) defeated The Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge & Rocco Rock) in a Dog Collar Match
– Dean Malenko defeated Disco Inferno to retain the WCW Cruiserweight Title

– Ric Flair (with Woman & Miss Elizabeth) defeated Konnan to win the WCW United States Title
– The Giant & “The Taskmaster” Kevin Sullivan defeated Chris Benoit & Arn Anderson
– The Outsiders (Scott Hall & Kevin Nash), & Hulk Hogan fought Randy Savage, Sting, & Lex Luger to a no contest when Hogan came down to the ring & threw out the referee. The aftermath of the match saw the formation of the New World Order

1977 – Greg Gagne & Jim Brunzell defeated Blackjack Lanza & Bobby Duncum to win the AWA World Tag Team Title in Winnipeg, Manitoba

1977 – Bobo Brazil defeated Blackjack Mulligan to win the NWA Mid-Atlantic United States Title

1985 – Tim Brooks, Mark Lewin & One Man Gang defeated The Von Erichs (Kerry & Kevin) in a Handicap Match to win the WCCW World 6-Man Tag Team Titles

2002 – The WWE Hardcore Title’s 24/7 Rule sees the belt pass from Bradshaw to Steven Richards, to Crash Holly, to Christopher Nowinski, & back to Bradshaw

2003 – on Raw, Booker T defeated Christian to win the WWE Intercontinental Title

2004 – on TNA weekly PPV, The Naturals (Chase Stevens & Andy Douglas) defeated America’s Most Wanted (Chris Harris & James Storm) to win the NWA World Tag Team Titles in Nashville, Tennessee
