1998 – The Monday Night War continued: WCW Monday Nitro defeated WWF Monday Night Raw: 4.93 to 4.0 in the ratings

2004 – Ric Flair’s autobiography “To Be The Man” is released

2008 – Mickie Knuckles, who had just debuted as “Moose” on TNA, suffered a broken leg during an IWA Mid-South event in Joliet, Illinois.  Knuckles would undergo surgery the next day.  The surgery and recovery would eventually cost her a planned TNA contract

2009 – Rudy Charles, who had been one of the top referees for TNA and had been with the company from 2002 on, was let go by the company


In 1985, NWA’s The Great American Bash was held at the American Legion Memorial Stadium, in Charlotte, North Carolina. With an attendance of 27,000. This was the 1st ever Great American Bash event:

– Jimmy Valiant defeated Paul Jones in a Dog Collar Match
– Sam Houston, Manny Fernandez, & Buzz Tyler defeated Konga The Barbarian, Billy Graham, & Abdullah The Butcher (with Paul Jones)
– Ron Bass (with James J. Dillion) fought Buddy Landel to a draw
– Ole & Arn Anderson defeated Dick Slater & Buzz Sawyer to retain the NWA National Tag Team Titles
– AWA World Tag Team Champions The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal) (with Paul Ellering) fought NWA World Tag Team Champions Ivan Koloff & Krusher Krushchev to a double DQ
– Magnum T.A. defeated Kamala (with Skandor Akbar) via DQ to retain the NWA United States Title
– Ric Flair defeated Nikita Koloff (with Ivan Koloff) to retain the NWA World Heavyweight Title (with David Crockett as the special guest referee)
– Dusty Rhodes defeated Tully Blanchard (with Baby Doll) in a Steel Cage Match to win the NWA World Television Title. As a result Blanchard’s valet Baby Doll was forced to become Rhodes’ valet for 30 days

In 1997, WWF In Your House 16: Canadian Stampede was held at the Saddledome, in Calgary, Canada. With an attendance of 12,151:

– The Godwinns (Henry & Phineas) defeated The New Blackjacks (Blackjack Bradshaw & Blackjack Windham)
– Mankind fought Hunter Hearst Helmsley (with Chyna) to a double countout
– The Great Sasuke defeated Taka Michinoku
– The Undertaker defeated Vader (with Paul Bearer) to retain the WWF Title
– The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Jim Neidhart, The British Bulldog, & Brian Pillman) defeated Steve Austin, Ken Shamrock, Goldust, & The Legion Of Doom (Hawk & Animal) in a 10-Man Tag Team Match

In 1998, WCW Monday Nitro was broadcast live at the Georgia Dome, in Atlanta, Georgia. With an attendance of 41,412:

– Booker T defeated Dean Malenko to retain the WCW World Television Title
– Kanyon vs. Raven (with Lodi) ended in a No Contest
– Scott Putski defeated Scotty Riggs
– Chris Jericho defeated Ultimo Dragon via DQ to retain the WCW Cruiserweight Title
– Chavo Guerrero Jr. defeated Johnny Swinger
– The Public Enemy (Rocco Rock & Johnny Grunge) defeated Alex Wright & Disco Inferno
– Goldberg defeated Scott Hall to retain the WCW United States Title
– Juventud Guerrera defeated Psychosis
– The Giant defeated Jim Duggan
– Diamond Dallas Page (with Karl Malone) defeated Jim Neidhart
– Lex Luger & Sting (with Kevin Nash & Konnan) defeated Sick Boy & Billy Kidman

1991 – The Miracle Violence Connection (Steve Williams & Terry Gordy) defeated Stan Hansen & Danny Spivey to win the AJPW Unified World Tag Team Titles

1992 – The Moondogs (Spot & Cujo) defeat Jerry Lawler & Jeff Jarrett to win the USWA Tag Team Title in Memphis, Tennessee

1997 – El Samurai defeated Jushin Liger to win the J-Crown

2002 – The WWE Hardcore Title’s 24/7 Rule sees the belt pass from Bradshaw to Steven Richards, to Crash Holly, to Christopher Nowinski, & back to Bradshaw

2004 – on Smackdown, Billy Kidman & Paul London defeated The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray & D-Von) to win the WWE Tag Team Titles

2007 – Ryusuke Taguchi defeated Minoru to win the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title
