Here’s what you need to know about NXT:
-The NXT Champion is Adrian Neville, who became champion during NXT Arrival on February 27, winning a Ladder Match against Bo Dallas, who had been champion for 260 days
-They also have Tag Team Champions, Konnor and Viktor, better known as The Ascension. They won the belts on October 3, defeating Adrian Neville and Corey Graves
-Charlotte is the NXT Woman’s Champion, becoming the second title holder on May 29 at NXT Takeover, pinning Natalya in the finals of a tournament set up when JBL stripped Paige of the title.
-John “Bradshaw” Layfield is the Interim General Manager of the show, replacing Dusty Rhodes who Triple H fired in a power trip.
-The announce team is constantly rotating with some combination of Byron Saxton, William Regal, Brad Maddox, Alex Riley, Jason Albert (formerly Tensai), Renee Young and Tom Phillips
And that’s everything you need to know about NXT. (Now we know!) (And knowing is half the battle) (G.I. Joe!)
-Before I get started I invite all of you to tune in every Wednesday night at 11:00pm EST to the Wrestling Outsiders Podcast. Join my brother Brian and I over at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/wrestlingoutsiders as we look at past WWE, WCW and ECW pay per views.
-The #1 Contender to the NXT Title, Tyler Breeze, has entered the building.
1.) Mojo Rawley pinned Aiden English
Mojo cut an inset promo saying he got beat down, but, like America, he got up. Aiden’s pre-match song was about how Mojo let down the USA. Before the match started I had to take a 10 minute intermission because my Roku decided to be a pain in the ass.
Mojo wearing obscenely bright neon green. I think that’s what caused my Roku to go crazy. Mojo tried to end the match in 30 seconds, hitting two Stinger Splashes, but got his head clothesline’d off when going for the Rear View.
Aiden got maybe 30 seconds of offense before Mojo made his come back and won a quickie with a Overdrive.
-Backstage Devin interviewed Natalya about both her and Tyson losing last week. She said she will always have Tyson’s back and is proud of him before leaving. She sounded very condescending.
-Special Olympians came down to the WWE Performance Center and got a special training session with the Superstars and Diva’s. I wonder if Bill DeMott was an ass to them.
2.) NXT Woman’s Champion Charlotte (w/Sasha Banks) pinned Bayley
Sasha looked longingly at Charlotte’s championship as the match got started. Charlotte has begun doing the reverse knife edge chops, which look bad. These two women were once tag team partners, but Charlotte turned heel on Bayley, setting up a grudge match that I don’t think ever happened.
Bayley made her comeback using the Polish Hammer of all things. Sasha ran her mouth, so Bayley slid outside the ring and knocked her down. Back in the ring Charlotte was about to finish off her foe when Summer Rae decided now was the best time to make her return.
Despite everyone being distracted Charlotte still won with the Bow Down To The Queen. Sasha and Charlotte did not look happy at first to see Summer, but joined in on a 3-on-1 beating of Bayley until Paige and Emma ran down to make the save.
Just a reminder, this is the third time Paige has been on the show since being stripped of the title for not being able to be on NXT and WWE at the same time.
-Jason Jordan and Ty Dillinger were annoying backstage.
-A video for the Ascension aired.
3.) Jason Jordan and Ty Dillinger defeated Stewart Cumberland and Phillip Ghouljar
What the hell kind of names are Stewart Cumberland and Phillip Ghouljar? I wasn’t the only person wondering as the announcers couldn’t stop talking about those names, especially Ghouljar.
Ghouljar has the Arn Anderson bald spot already. This match was a longer than usual jobber match, which makes for a boring squash match. The jobbers got the heat on both men, leading to two “hot” tags.
Jordan gave Ghouljar a backdrop and Ghouljar landed right on the top of his head. After what seemed liked forever, Jason won with the Angle Slam.
They showed a replay of the backdrop where Ghouljar landed right on top of his head.
-Backstage the BFF’s were yapping and Charlotte pointed out that Summer decided to walk out in the middle of her match. Summer said they won’t need the Head On A Stick sign anymore since she is back. After leaving Charlotte muttered “That’s what you think”.
-The #1 Contender to the NXT Title is here! Tyler Breeze talked about beating Seth Rogan’s not as good looking younger brother. Them’s fighting words, but Sami isn’t out to fight. Tyler said the NXT Title is so prestigious and pristine, it should only be worn by someone who is gorgeous. He did mention he can have his title shot anytime he wants it, which makes me think it’s a Money in the Bank type thing.
Tyler introduced the 3x MTV Euro Music Award winning music video…his music video. It’s almost entirely 3 minutes of him singing his theme music. They do break it up with some modeling photos of him here and there.
The fans with dueling chants of “That was awesome” and “NO!” as Tyler cried.
-A video package detailing the last night of Bo Dallas’ NXT career aired, including footage that didn’t air of Bo saying he will call Campus Security if the fans didn’t leave.
4.) NXT Champion Adrian Neville pinned Justin Gabriel
For some reason this was promoted as a No Disqualification Match for the NXT Title, but when the match started they made no mention of a No DQ stipulation nor was it for the title. Someone was having fun with the graphics maker.
Both men went for crazy running dives over the ropes early on, but they both got cut off. Gabriel ran into the ring and hit a clothesline, while Neville stopped Gabriel just as he was in the start of a dive.
Gabriel used a double under hook for a submission hold, but he just let Neville go and paid for it. Neville slapped on a front sleeper, but Gabriel turned it into a Northern Lights Suplex for a near fall.
This ended up as a fun high flying match. Gabriel rolled out of the 450 Splash, but ended up being hit with a Red Arrow, giving Neville the win.
-After the match Tyson Kidd came out. Kidd apologized for being a dick last week after their match. Kidd did make sure to note he will win the next time they fight and he wants another shot at the title. Neville accepted and shook Tyson’s hand as the show ended.
So at the end of the day the show set up two future challengers for Neville, a new challenging team for Ascension and set up a future angle with the BFF’s. Until next week, which will probably be a throw away episode, remember to say your vitamins and take your prayers.
