Wrestling By The Numbers: Sarah ‘Shara’ Backman

World Wrestling Entertainment has parted ways with developmental wrestler Sarah ‘Shara’ Backman. The 22-year-old Stockholm Sweden native had no prior professional wrestling experience and spent the previous year training with WWE officials. It was reported in February Backman would be using the name Shara but she never ended up appearing on television. Backman requested and was granted her release on April 30th along with 4-other developmental talents.

Sarah Backman is one of the most decorated female arm wrestling competitors in history being a former 8-Time World Arm Wrestling Champion, 8-Time European Arm Wrestling Champion and an 11-Time Swedish Arm Wrestling Champion. She had competed in the industry since age 14 and retired in May of 2013 after starting her professional wrestling training. She also appeared on the Swedish television series Gladiators where she competed under the name Spirit.
