Wrestling By The Numbers: Joel ‘Oliver Grey’ Peffyfer
World Wrestling Entertainment has announced the release of former 1-Time WWE NXT Tag-Team Champion Joel ‘Oliver Grey’ Peffyfer. The 27-year-old Exeter Devon United Kingdom native had spent the previous 2-years with the WWE under a developmental contract. Peffyfer was signed in March of 2012 and after getting an approved VISA was assigned to Florida Championship Wrestling. He was moved to NXT Wrestling in September of 2012 and went on to become the first ever tag-team champions in NXT alongside partner Adrian Neville. While holding the titles Peffyfer suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and ended up missing a year of action. He had returned to the ring this past March and had appeared on NXT Wrestling prior to the announcement of his release last week.
Joel Peffyfer is a 9-year veteran of the professional wrestling industry who debuted back in 2005 after having been trained at the RBW Exeter Training Centre, the VPW School Of Excellence and at FWA Academy. He started his in-ring career working for both the Devon Junior Wrestling Alliance and Revolution British Academy after having been trained. Before working under the name Oliver Grey in the WWE, Peffyfer was known in England as Joel Peffifer, Joel Redman, Joey Redman and Jules Redman. He was a regular with Premier Promotions in England where he is a former 1-Time PWF International Champion and also competed in a popular tag-team with Mark Haskins known as The Thrillers.
