OVW TV Episode 767 recap‏

May 2, 2014 - by Steve Gerweck

This is a recap of OVW TV Episode 767 that will be aired in Louisville on 5/3 and is available online at http://www.ovwrestling.com/tv/767

We open with a clip from last week’s main event where Mohamed Ali Vaez has Adam Revolver by the leg as Danger International (Timmy Danger, Marcus Anthony, Dylan Bostic, & Roberto DeLuna) comes out to surround the ring. Supposed allies Vaez and Revolver stand back to back in the ring as Bostic hands Revolver a chair, which is used to whack Vaez in the back while ref Josh Ashcraft is distracted. Revolver then joins the others in a beatdown of Vaez.

After the show opening, we immediately go to the opening match as we hear from OUR OVW Announce Team of Dean Hill, Gilbert Corsey and Michael Titus. Shannon the Dude returns to serve as OUR OVW Ring Announcer for tonight as we march toward the 5/10 Saturday Night Special.

Match #1: Jake Glasure vs OUR OVW Champion “Strongest Gamer Alive” Marcus Anthony (w/Timmy “Rampage” Danger)
Glasure is a big muscled, tattooed former cop making his OVW debut. One of the new unidentified refs is in charge here as Anthony rams Glasure into the corner then tosses him across the ring. Anthony stomps and splashes Glasure before pulling him up from the mat and applying the Crimson Omen and that’s all we’ve to say about that.
Anthony keeps the hold on a little longer despite much bell ringing. Gilbert goes to ringside to interview Danger and Anthony. Gilbert reiterates that Anthony will be in a cage match with Jamin Olivencia at SNS, meaning neither Danger nor his associates will be able to interfere in the match (theoretically). Danger says that once the cage is locked and Anthony applies the Crimson Omen, there will be no escape for Jamin so everything will end between them as well as his career! Danger says there will be no escaping the monster (Anthony)! Gilbert asks about bringing Revolver into the fold, to which Danger says that Revolver needed a friend but Vaez just brushed him off, so he came to Danger International where he gets some needed leadership and guidance.
Vaez comes walking out with a purpose toward Danger but Anthony steps in the way. Vaez is looking for Revolver but is told he has Danger’s credit card and is out buying some new apparel. Danger tells Vaez to mind his own business as Anthony says “Want me?” Vaez says he’s not intimidated by a “muscle head” and looks at Anthony as just another opportunity. Vaez then challenges Anthony to a match on next week’s TV!
Gilbert says tonight’s main event will be Jamin taking on The Body Guy!

Match #2: Jay Best & Deanta Davis vs The Skywalkers (Aaron Sky & Robbie Walker)
OUR OVW Senior Official “Package” Chris Sharpe is in charge here as Best is counting his money. Next week, The Skywalkers take on Flash Flanagan and Trailer Park Trash in a number one contenders match for a tag title shot at SNS. Best gets pulled over to the Skywalker corner early as the tag in and out quickly, leading Dean to point out that The Nightmares often took on stronger competition in order to make themselves a better tag team. Sky springs off Walker’s back and drops an elbow on Best for 2 but then Best throws Sky to the mat and rags him over to the wrong corner for some beatings. Davis keeps Sharpe busy as Best chokes Sky then drops a knee on him. Davis comes in to drop on Sky but doesn’t cover him, instead going over to tag best. Best grabs Sky’s leg and is treated to an enziguri as Walker tags in. Walker hits a flying forearm for 2 then tries to slam but gets dragged back to the wrong corner. Best slams Walker but misses a kneedrop and Sky gets tagged in so he can come off the top and clobber Best. One double Skywalker superkick later, Best gets pinned and the young girls in attendance are rejoicing!

Gilbert brings up that OVW takes their fans very seriously, mentioning the family of 8-month old Logan McConnell who unexpectedly passed away. He mentions a site set up for the final expenses at http://www.gofundme.com/LoganMcConnell#.

Match #3: Paredyse vs OUR OVW TV Champion Mr. Marvelous Melvin Maximus
Paredyse has a new hairdo as it is mentioned that three months ago; Melvin won the TV title from him. OUR OVW Official Emeritus Joe Wheeler is in charge here as Melvin offers a handshake but Paredyse instead kisses his hand! Paredyse just bounces off Melvin, who then picks him up and slams him before catching him in the deadly bearhug. Melvin squeezes away as every internal organ affected by this is named off (they left out the spleen!) but Paredyse is able to finally give Melvin some elbows to the head and get himself free. It takes Paredyse four dropkicks to get Melvin down on the mat! Paredyse climbs up top but out comes Rev. Stuart Miles and his trusty altar boy Jay Dawson! Paredyse leaps out onto the holy duo and attacks them. Melvin comes out of the ring to help Paredyse as Wheeler counts out both wrestlers.
Upon chasing off the holy duo, Melvin offers a handshake and this time Paredyse shakes, adding a smack on the butt for Melvin.

Gilbert is at ringside to interview Sharpe since Ashcraft again was at the center of another controversial call (last week’s main event). Sharpe calls out Ashcraft as he has been unable to reach Ashcraft otherwise. Sharpe says he has reached the end of his rope with Ashcraft, having already banned him from a couple of OVW live events and fining him, and he still messed up last week. Ashcraft is apologetic, saying he was trying to keep Danger off the apron. Sharpe says he has already made his decision and he’s fining Ashcraft again (I guess the “whip-a-ref raffle” is not an option here), despite Ashcraft’s protests that he needs the money. Sharpe says he will be watching tonight’s main event, where Ashcraft is scheduled to ref.

Match #4: OUR OVW Tag Team Champions Dylan Bostic & “Mexicutioner” Roberto DeLuna vs “Party Starter” Bud Dwight & “The Teflon Don from Boca Raton” Eddie Diamond
The other new unidentified ref is in charge here as Diamond and Dwight do their dances and end with a chest bump. Dean catches some beads thrown by Dwight! Bostic is pink-less tonight as he musses up Diamond’s hair and ducks in the ropes. Diamond back elbows Bostic, sending him to the corner to tag in DeLuna. Diamond can’t armdrag DeLuna, who just ends up blocking Diamond down to the mat. Bostic comes back in to get hiptossed by Diamond then headlocked by Dwight, as a “Party” chant breaks out. Diamond comes back in and gets whipped across by Bostic so that DeLuna can kick him in the back as this ref gets distracted. Champs work over the leg of Diamond as Titus suggests that his ref should be fined as well. Diamond finally kicks Bostic away then kneelifts him for 2 before DeLuna breaks it up. It’s everybody in the pool as the four pair off and fight. Diamond and Dwight get reverse-whipped into each other before the champs hit the Super Backcracker on Dwight for the pin!

Commercial airs plugging Jim Cornette’s appearance at the Kentucky Flea Marker over Memorial Day weekend.

The Body Guy (w/ Big John & Bobby Black) comes out for the main event and joins Ashcraft in the ring. Jamin Olivencia comes out but gets jumped by Anthony, who shoves him into one of the steel building support poles. Danger is also out to watch as Anthony drapes Jamin over his shoulder and rams him into the pole twice! The other refs come out but Anthony repeats this once more, leaving Jamin laid out on the floor. The Skywalkers come out as well along with a backboard. Dean brings up Jamin’s concussion issues a couple of years ago and wonders aloud if he is done as a wrestler. Jamin gets carried out as we go to break.

Back from break, The Body Brigade is hanging out in the ring when Sharpe comes out and tells us that OUR OVW Owner “Nightmare” Danny Davis has made a new match!

Match #5: Body Guy & Bobby Black (w/Big John) vs “Hicks with Sticks” (Flash Flanagan & OUR OVW Director of Operations Trailer Park Trash)
Black (whom Dean calls a “nut case”) grabs a headlock on Flash but just gets tossed away. TPT comes in to chop on Black and drop toehold him so that Flash can drop an elbow on him. Black escapes and tags in Body Guy, who gets thrown around a bit before pushing Flash back to the Body Corner. Black puts the boots to Flash one time too many as Flash grabs his leg and flips him before giving him a lariat. Flash goes to the apron but Big John pulls him to the floor and hammers him as Ashcraft is distracted again. Back in, Body Guy twists Flash’s head then lets Big John help as Black argues with Ashcraft while Gilbert and Titus argue about Ashcraft’s officiating. Dean tells Gilbert not to waste his time arguing with Titus. Body Guy whiffs on a butt drop and Flash makes the tag on TPT! Black gets slammed and clotheslined followed by some chops as Flash and Body Guy scuffle out on the floor. Big John pulls TPT’s legs out from under him and holds him as Black covers him for the pin.
Black appears to have lost a tooth as the Body Brigade poses as the show goes off.

THOUGHTS: Other than Anthony’s attack on Jamin, this show was again more like “drifting” toward SNS although they did have an extra week between those shows this month due to the Derby. The Skywalkers buildup is nostalgic if nothing else, too bad they don’t have music videos. I would expect the Body Brigade to screw over Flash & Trash next week meaning the Skywalkers get the title shot. Could Vaez team with Jamin to face the Dangers or would he replace Jamin at SNS? Again, it sure would be nice to have some ladies on this show. Overall, this show was fair to middling, I’ll give it a thumbs-in-the-middle.
