Just days away from his 30th birthday, Canadian born Kevin Steen trained under Jacques Rougeau and Carl Ouellet. Steen first developed an interest in professional wrestling after watching a match between Shawn Michaels and Diesel at Wrestlemania XI at the age of eleven.
On May 12, 2012 Toronto, Ontario, Steen defeated Davey Richards to captured the ROH world heavyweight title. A title he would retain for 328 days. Steen also won the ROH tag team titles with El Generico.
In 2013, Ring of Honor released a DVD titled Kevin Steen: Hell Rising, which included both his best matches in the promotion and a shoot interview.
Pro Wrestling Illustrated ranked Steen #10 of the top 500 singles wrestlers. He was voted Wrestling Observer’s Best Brawler from 2010 to 2012.
