WWE Monday Night Raw (04/28/2014) – St. Louis, Missouri

Welcome everyone to tonight’s edition of Monday Night Raw. We begin tonight’s show with a shot of the ring and it is surrounded by a steel cage. We are now joined by John Cena. He makes his way to the ring. He starts by asking the WWE Universe “Why?.” He asks the WWE Universe why he deserved what happened last week. He said we were given a choice to make the odds for Cena last week, and he asks “Why” again. He says at the votes came in, he realized he was forced to fight the entire Wyatt Family. He says 10 years go, in this same arena, he was drafted to Monday Night Raw. He said he heard the loudest ovation he has ever gotten in his career. He says but now, times have changed. He says he doesn’t fault the WWE Universe for that. He says he has had some good times with us, and some night more tougher than normal. He says but through all that, he has never abandoned us and always put the WWE first. He asks why we follow Bray Wyatt. He says he is excited for the time he has to step down, because he sees how the future is in the locker room. He names out the future stars in the business today. He names NXT superstars and says they have the same passion that he does. He says that Bray Wyatt is a dangerous man. He says Bray is nothing that any of us have seen before. His words are motivating. He says that Wyatt’s heart is cold, and his passion isn’t for the WWE, it’s for himself. Cena says that this Sunday, any member of the family that shows up with be locked out. Most importantly though, Bray Wyatt will be locked in. He says no matter what, Bray will continue manipulate. He says it won’t be long before it’s Bray Wyatt vs. The World, and eventually nobody will be able to stop him. He’s cut off by Bray Wyatt and The Family.
The voice of a young child comes over the arena, and it starts singing “He’s got the whole world in his hands.” The WWE Universe starts singing with him. The lights come back on in the arena, and there are children on top of the stage singing the song. The lights go out again, and Bray Wyatt starts singing and the family shows up on the stage. Bray tells his children to sing with him. Bray leads the choir down the ramp and toward the ring, all of them singing the song. Bray asks the C-Nation to start singing with him. Everyone starts singing, and the choir starts circling the ring. Every keeps singing lead by Bray Wyatt. The lights go out again. Bray blows out the lantern and the lights come back all. Every member of the choir is now wearing a goat mask. Cena has a very scared and disappointed look on his face. Bray starts laughing maniacally as we go to commercial.
Back on Raw, we see what just transpired between Bray Wyatt and John Cena.
In the arena, we are joined by The WWE Tag Team Champions, The Usos. They will be defending their titles again Rybaxel.
The Usos vs. Rybaxel (WWE Tag Team Title Match)
Jey Uso and Axel start the match off. Axel backs Jey into the corner and they trade chops. Jey gains the advantage and then connects with a shoulder tackle or a 2 count. Ryback now tags in. Ryback pie faces Jey and Jey comes back with some bit right hands. Ryback fights back with a knee to the mid section followed by a scoop slam. Ryback goes for a big splash and misses. Jimmy now tags in and The Usos connects with a double kick to the gut. Axel comes in and eats a right hand. Both men roll to the outside. The Usos both fly over the top rope on to Rybaxel. It looks like Jey Uso has hurt his ankle as we go to commercial.
Back on Raw, Ryback is on the middle rope and he hits a splash on to Jimmy Uso. Axel tags in and hits a splash for a 2 count. Axel now starts raking at the face of Jimmy. Axel now locks in a shoulder lock. Jimmy fights back to his feet, but Axel connects with a big running knee. Axel covers and gets a 2 count. Ryback now tags in. Ryback picks Jimmy up over his head and slams him down. Ryback covers and gets a 2 count. Ryback connects with a headbutt and now lifts Jimmy on the top rope. He tags in Axel. Axel and Ryback both go to the top rope with Jimmy. Jimmy fights off both men with headbutts and right hands. Jimmy hits a front suplex on Axel and Axel lands right on Ryback. Jey is back on the apron. Jimmy gets the tag to Jey. Jey comes off the top with a cross body on Axel for a close 2 count. Jey connects with big uppercuts and right hands to Axel in the corner. Ryback tries to charges but he eats a big kick to the gut. Axel charges and gets hit with a Samoan Drop. Jey charges in and hits the Rikishi Splash. Jey covers and gets a very close 2 count. Axel gets back to his feet and tags in Ryback. Axel hits a back drop and Ryback hits a spinebuster. Ryback covers and gets a close 2 count himself. Ryback calls for the Meathook Clothesline. Ryback charges and Jey connects with a big superkick. Jey covers and gets another very close 2 count. Jey hits a few chops but then eats the Meathook Clothesline by Ryback. Ryback picks Jey up and goes for Shell Shock, but Jey counters into a roll up for a 2 count. Axel now tags in. Jey hits a superkick on Ryback. Axel hits the Perfect Plex on Jey, but Jimmy comes off the top with a splash on Axel and covers for the 3 count.

Back on Raw, we go to the back with Heyman and Cesaro. Heyman says he is disappointed by RVD. He says RVD is an original Heyman guy, and he is being respectful. He says RVD is getting under his skin. The last person to do that was The Undertaker, and we all know what happened to him. Heyman says he (Heyman) is a liar and ruthless, but he takes his clients to the top. Cesaro says that’s all needed to hear. They shake and walk off.
We go to the announcers and they show us what happened last week between Daniel Bryan, Stephanie Mcmahon, and Kane.
Back on Raw, we go to the back and see Kane’s mask inside the glass case.
In the arena, we are joined by Sheamus. Before he can make his way down the ramp, he is jumped from behind by Titus O’Neal. Titus tosses him into the barricade and then into the ring post. Titus tosses Sheamus in the ring to officially start this match.
Sheamus vs. Titus O’Neal
Titus starts off quickly with right hands and knees in the corner. The ref gets Titus off of Sheamus. Titus pushes him away and Sheamus explodes out with a huge Brogue Kick. Sheamus covers for the 3 count.
Winner by Pinfall – Sheamus
Huge Jackman will be on Raw after the commercial break.
Back on Raw, we are joined by Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler says that this is his favorite time of year. The weather gets warmer and the superheros return to the big screen. He mentions the newest X-men movie. He then shows us a preview of the new movie. Back in the arena, Dolph Ziggler introduces Hugh Jackman. Jackman makes his way to the ring to a pretty good ovation from the WWE Universe.
Jackman grabs a mic and hypes the St. Louis crowd. Jackman says it’s great to be back on Raw. Jackman says he has done some neat things in his career, but this is one of the biggest and most exciting shows out there. He says that what he loves the most, is that anything can happen. Dolph says that it’s funny he mentions that. Dolph shows us what happened last time Jackman was on Raw with Jackman knocking Ziggler out.
Back in the arena, Jackman says he wasn’t gonna bring it up. Ziggler says that Jack Swagger kicks harder than that. He says that it was worth it, because he got knocked out by a true superstar. They shake on it and bury the hatchet. They are cut off by Damien Sandow who is dressed up as Magneto.
Sandow says that he has come here tonight, so that the WWE Universe can see him in all his greatness. Sandow says that he looks and sees everyone trembling at the site of him. He calls Ziggler a blonde halfwit, and he is trembling because he is starstruck. Ziggler tells Sandow that he tripped on his cape when he said that. Sandow calls Jackman Wolverine, and asks him if he is some kind of mutant. Sandow says that the 2 of them will meet the same fate. Loud “knock him out” chants by the WWE Universe. Sandow screams that he is Magneto. Jackman asks Sandow if he made his own costume, and calls it incredible. Sandow asks Jackman if he is finished. Jackman says that he is good. Sandow says “behold the power of magnetism.” Jackman says that Sandow doesn’t measure up to the real Magneto. Sandow tries using the power of magnetism. Jackman acts like it’s pulling him towards him, and Jackman stops and hits Sandow with a hip toss. Ziggler then hits the Zig Zag on Sandow. Ziggler and Jackman celebrate with the WWE Universe.
Back on Raw, we are joined by Jack Swagger and Zeb Coulter. He is followed by Cesaro and Paul Heyman. Paul Heyman introduces himself to the WWE Universe. Heyman talks about his kids and say that they think he is a funny person. Heyman says he wants to tell everyone a joke. He says knock knock, everyone says who’s there, he says Mike, everyone asks Mike who, and Heyman says “Mike lient conquered the streak at Wrestlemania.” He says he won’t mention it again, but says that his client Cesaro won the battle royal at Wrestlemania. He then introduces Cesaro.
Jack Swagger vs. Cesaro
Swagger goes behind and takes Cesaro down. Cesaro gets back up and picks Swagger up with pure strength. He slams Swagger down and picks him up off the ground again. He slams him to the mat and Swagger bails to the outside. Cesaro catches Swagger with a boot to the face. Cesaro comes off the top with an axe handle to the outside. Cesaro gets whipped into the barricade and then eats a knee to the gut. Both men now back in the ring. Swagger covers for a 2 count. Swagger whips Cesaro shoulder first into the ring post. Swagger connects with a clothesline and covers for a 1 count. Swagger now locks in a surf board stretch. Cesaro fights back to his feet and connects with a big uppercut. Swagger comes back off the ropes and hits a big boot to the face of Cesaro for a 2 count. Cesaro ducks a clothesline and hits a suplex on Swagger. Zeb grabs the ankle of Cesaro and Swagger takes him down. Heyman grabs the mustache of Zeb and that distracts Swagger. Cesaro hits a German Suplex on Swagger and pins him for the 3 count.
Winner by Pinfall – Cesaro
We go to the back where Renee Young meets up with John Cena. She asks him about what happened earlier. Cena says nothing and then walks off.
Back on Raw, we see again see the Kane mask inside of the glass case.
Back in the arena, Cody Rhodes is in the ring with Alberto Del Rio. They will be going one on one.
Cody Rhodes vs. Alberto Del Rio
Alberto Del Rio starts off quickly with right hands and kicks to the gut. Cody grabs Del Rio and tosses him into the corner. He lands big kicks but Del Rio fights out and hits a suplex for a 1 count. Cody comes back with a clothesline followed by a scoop slam. Cody covers for a 1 count. Cody works on the arm of Del Rio and takes him down. Cody locks in a wrist lock. Del Rio fights back to his feet and backs Del Rio into the corner. Del Rio fights out with a big right hand. Del Rio charges and hits Cody in the back of the head. Del Rio connects with a belly to back suplex for a 2 count. Del Rio locks in a rear chin lock. Cody fights back to his feet with back elbows. Del Rio lands a right hand but Cody flips over the back of him. Cody connects with a drop kick. Del Rio gets back to his feet and hits a tilt a whirl back breaker for a 2 count. Del Rio locks in another rear chin lock. Cody fights back to his feet and hits an arm drag. Cody hits his drop kick and then nails Del Rio with a kick to the gut. Cody spring boards but Del Rio catches him with a shot to the mid section. Del Rio connects with his kick to the head and locks in the cross arm breaker. Cody tries to fight out, but ends up tapping out.
Winner by Submission – Alberto Del Rio
After the match, Goldust tries to console Cody, but Cody shoves him away again, just as he did last week.
Back on Raw, we see Cesaro and Heyman in the back talking. We can’t hear what they are saying.
Back on Raw, we are joined by Lana. She speaks in Russian and then introduces Alexander Rusev. Rusev will be going one on one with Xavier Woods.
Alexander Rusev vs. Xavier Woods
Woods charges in with a drop kick quickly and lands in some right hands. Woods hits the ropes, but gets caught by Rusev and Rusev slams him to the mat. Rusev stomps on the back of Woods, and locks in The Accolade. Truth runs in the ring and knocks Rusev off of him.
Winner by DQ – Alexander Rusev
After the match, Truth low bridges Rusev and he flies out of the ring. Rusev jumps on the apron and eats a drop kick by Woods. Rusev stays on the apron though. Truth charges in and hits a calf kick to knock Rusev off of the apron. Rusev backs up the ramp and stares down Woods and Truth.
We go to the back where Renee Young is joined by Rob Van Dam. She asks Van Dam about his #1 contender’s match against Bad New Barrett. He says tonight, Barrett is going to receive some bad news of his own. Zeb Coulter shows up. Coulter says that he and RVD has a common enemy, and that’s Paul Heyman. Zeb Coulter asks RVD if they can work together and get rid of a common enemy. RVD says he has a mind of his own. He says thanks, but no thanks. He says he is just going to continue being himself.
Back on Raw, we see Zeb Coulter and Jack Swagger talking in the back.
Back in the arena, Los Matadores are in the ring with 3MB. Los Matadores will be going against Drew Mcyntire and Heath Slater.
Los Matadores vs. 3MB
Diego and Drew start this match off. Diego starts off quick with a few drop kicks and works on the arm of Drew. Drew lands a right hand and tags in Slater. Slater lands some right hands and kicks. Diego spring boards off the middle rope and connects with a back elbow for a 2 count. Fernando tags in and hits a springboard splash. Slater gets whipped into the corner, but Fernando catches him with a head scissor. Fernando now locks in a shoulder lock. El Torito and Hornswoggle fight on the outside and that grabs the attention of Fernando. Slater hits his finisher on Fernando and gets the 3 count.
Winners by Pinfall – 3MB
After the match, Hornswoggle tries to hit a cross body on Los Matadores from the apron, but they move and Hornswoggle hits the ground. El Torito spring boards to the top rope and hits a cross body to Slater on the outside.
Back on Raw, we are joined by Stephanie Mcmahon. She makes her way to the ring. Stephanie says that what happened last week was a senseless attack, and she wants to make it up to him. She asks Daniel Bryan to come out so she can apologize. Daniel Bryan’s music starts up and he makes his way out with Brie Bella. Daniel has a neck brace on. They are welcomed by loud “Yes” chants by the WWE Universe.
Bryan says that he almost believed Stephane when she wanted Kane to stop last week. He says he almost believed her, but everyone knows that she is full of crap. Stephanie says that she has earned that, and she doesn’t blame him for thinking that. Stephanie says that her and Triple H never wanted him to be WWE World Heavyweight Champion. She says that their emotions ran high and got out of control. Bryan asks how she thinks Brie felt every time they did what they did to him. Bryan says he asked Brie not to do anything, and she agreed because she respects him. Stephanie says that he did it on his own, and earned his championship. She says that all she wanted was to give Bryan a credible opponent at Extreme Rules. She tells Brie that she knows what it’s like to have your husband wheeled out on a stretcher. She says that on behalf of their entire family, she is sorry. She says she apologizes or everything. Bryan says he thinks the audience agrees with him when he says that he still thinks she is full of crap. Stephanie says she doesn’t know how else to prove it. She asks Bryan to walk down to the ring and look her in the eyes so she can prove it. Bryan says he is going to see a liar when he looks in her eyes. He knows that at the snap of her fingers, Kane will come down and attack him and Brie. Bryan says his head hurts bad, but he has never given up. He says the doctors have cleared him for Sunday, and he will not give up in that match against Kane. Bryan says that if Kane takes him, he’s taking Kane with him. Straight to hell. Stephanie says she doesn’t know where Kane is, but his mask has been locked up in her office. She says that Bryan can’t wrestle tonight, but Brie can. She says she wants to give Brie an opportunity for the Diva’s championship tonight on Raw. Bryan says there is no way Brie will be in the ring by herself. Stephanie says that Bryan can be in her corner, but Brie’s match starts right now.
We go to the back before the commercial break and we see that Kane’s mask is no longer in the case.
Paige vs. Brie Bella (WWE Divas Title Match)
Both ladies lock up to start this match. Paige gains control with a headlock and takes Brie down. Brie counters into a head scissor followed by a drop kick. Brie covers for a 2 count. Paige comes back with a kick to the gut. Paige tosses Brie across the ring by her hair and lands some big stomps to Brie in the corner. Paige connects with a fisherman suplex for a 2 count. Paige hangs Brie up on the middle rope and lands multiple knees. Brie comes back with a big knee to the face of Paige. Brie goes up to the top rope but Paige catches her. Paige gives chase and hits a superplex on Brie. Kane’s pyro goes off and Bryan stands at the bottom of the ramp waiting for him. Kane comes out from under the ring and he tries to drag Brie into the ring. Bryan tries to attack Kane, but Kane keeps shoving him away. Kane climbs into the ring and stalks Brie. Bryan grabs a wrench from under the ring and blasts Kane in the head with it. He checks on Brie and Kane sits up. Kane connects with a big chokeslam on Bryan and starts stalking Brie again. Kane tries to pull Brie into the hole again, but Brie kicks herself away and bails out of the ring. Refs check on Daniel Bryan on the ramp as Kane smiles and laughs in the ring.
Back on Raw, we go to the back with Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella in the trainer’s room. Stephanie shows up and says she is so sorry or what happened. She asks the trainer if Bryan can compete at Extreme Rules. Bryan says that he will, and Stephanie will regret bringing Brie into this. Brie very angrily tells Stephanie to get out of the trainer’s room.
We go to the back where Renee is again with John Cena. Cena says he is sorry or earlier, but what happened to open the show didn’t sit well with him. Cena says that it’s because of Bray Wyatt that he got caught up in everything. He says that the WWE Universe hasn’t turned their backs on him. He says everyone has a fight, and nobody fights like John Cena. He says that he has plans for Bray Wyatt this weekend. He tells Bray that this weekend will be the last time he sings his song.
Back in the arena, we are joined by Bad News Barrett. He says that RVD thinks he is going to beat him in their match. He tells Rob that he has some bad news for him. Barrett says that the WWE slogan is then, now, forever. He says that RVD’s slogan should be “then.” He says then was the only time RVD was relevant. He says when he finishes with him tonight, he will prove that the old man can’t hang with “B-N-B.”
Back on Raw, Bad News Barrett is in the ring. He is joined by Rob Van Dam for this match. This match is the finals of the #1 Contenders Intercontinental Championship Tournament.
Bad News Barrett vs. Rob Van Dam
Both men lock up and Barrett backs RVD into the corner and then they make a clean break. RVD gets Barrett in a wrist lock then hits an arm drag. RVD goes behind and Barrett lands a back elbow. Barrett charges and gets caught with a drop toe hold. RVD locks in a headlock. Barrett whips RVD into the ropes, but RVD grabs the ropes and low bridges him. RVD hits a moonsault off the apron to the outside. Both men are back in the ring and RVD covers for a 2 count. RVD now locks in a grounded head lock. RVD hits the ropes and Barrett connects with a big right hand and RVD rolls to the outside. Barrett tosses RVD into the barricade and then tosses him back in the ring. Barrett covers for a 2 count. Barrett lands a hard right hand but then eats a big boot. RVD rolls up Barrett for a 2 count. RVD connects with a shoulder in the corner. RVD tries to spring board over Barrett, but Barrett catches RVD with a big kick to the ribs. RVD rolls to the outside as we go to commercial.
Back on Raw, Barrett has a rear chin lock of RVD. RVD fights back to his feet and gets Barrett away with shots to the gut. RVD hits the ropes but Barrett connects with The Winds of Change for a close 2 count. Barrett goes up to the 2nd rope and drops an elbow. Barrett covers and gets a 2 count. Barrett connects with a shot to the back. Barrett tosses RVD in the corner and drives his foot into the throat of RVD. Barrett connects with a neckbreaker and covers for another close 2 count. Barrett locks in another rear chin lock. Barrett transitions over into a surfboard stretch. Van Dam fights back to his feet and rolls Barrett up for a 2 count. Van Dam connects with a super kick. He goes for running thunder but Barrett gets back to his feet. Van Dam kicks Barrett back down and Cesaro shows up on the apron. Swagger shows up, but gets thrown into the barricade. Barrett goes for the bullhammer, but Van Dam ducks and kicks Barrett down. He connects with rolling thunder and goes up top. RVD goes for the 5 Star Frog Splash, but Barrett gets the knees up. Barrett connects with The Bullhammer Elbow and covers for the 3 count.
Winner by Pinfall – Bad News Barrett
After the match, Cesaro climbs in the ring and starts stomping all over RVD. Swagger gets in the ring and attacks Cesaro from behind. Swagger connects with a gut wrench powerbomb on Cesaro. Swagger starts attacking RVD with right hands. RVD fights back with a kick to the head followed by a van daminator to Swagger. Van Dam goes up to the top and hits the 5 Star Frog Splash on Cesaro from across the ring. RVD slides out of the ring and backs up the ramp.
We go to the back with The Shield. Ambrose says at Extreme Rules, they are going to prove that evolution has passed Evolution by. He says The Shield are going to chew them up and spit them out. Rollins says that Evolution likes to ride in style because they think that’s power. He says that’s what small men do to feel strong. He says The Shield is power. He says that Evolution is going to find out what true power is. Reigns says that Orton used to be the future, but now he is the past. He says that The Shield is the future, and they better believe that, and believe in The Shield.
Back on Raw, Randy Orton makes his way to the ring with Batista and Triple H in his corner.
Triple H says that on Friday, The Shield took out 11 guys. He says that he should be mad, but he is impressed. He says The Shield are starting to remind him of somebody, and that’s them. Orton says that The Shield might think they are the new Evolution, but the problem is that they are still here. Batista says that The Shield will never be them. Triple H says he brought them into this world, and Evolution will take them out of it. He tells The Shield that this Sunday, they better adapt, or they will parish.
Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring, joined by fellow Shield members Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins for this one on one match.
Before the match begins, “Nature Boy” Ric Flair makes his way to the ring. Evolution gives Ric Flair a standing ovation and embrace him when he gets in the ring. Flair grabs a mic.
He asks if this is St. Louis, Missouri and if he has ever been here before. He says he has been here, and he has had a lot of fun. He says it’s great being in the ring with men who show what this company is all about. He says he ran up and down the road with The 4 Horsemen, and they styled and profiled. He says the same can be said about Evolution. He says in his years on the road, he has seen everything come full circle, and he means the word greatness. He says he is surrounded by superstars that are the definition of power, style, and grace. He says what he is talking about now, is The Shield. Flair shakes the hand of all 3 members of The Shield. Flair then leaves the ring.
Randy Orton vs. Roman Reigns
Reigns starts out with some big right hands to Orton followed by some headbutts. Orton fights back with right hands of his own. Orton tosses Reigns to the outside. Orton gives chase and lands some kicks to the chest of Reigns. Orton tries a suplex on the outside, but Reigns blocks it and hits one of his own. Reigns tosses Orton back in the ring but Orton bails back out. Reigns gives chase and lands a headbutt. Orton tosses Reigns shoulder first into the steel steps. Orton tosses Reigns face first into the steps and tosses Reigns back in the ring. Orton covers and gets a 1 count. Orton locks in a rear chin lock. Reigns fights back to his feet, but gets clotheslined over the top to the floor. Orton pulls Reigns back in and goes for his DDT. Reigns counters but Orton drives a knee into his face. Reigns explodes out of the corner with a big clothesline. Reigns connects with a clothesline in the corner followed by a big right hand. Reigns lays Orton on the bottom rope and hits his jumping drop kick from the floor. Reigns calls for the superman punch, but Triple H grabs Reigns’s leg. Ambrose and Rollins attack Triple H and Batista. Triple H tosses Ambrose across the announce table. Triple H now tosses Rollins back first into the ring. Reigns connects with the superman punch to Orton. Reigns attacks Triple H and Batista on the outside. Evolution has the numbers and attacks Reigns on the outside. Batista tosses Ambrose face first into the announce table. Orton tosses Rollins back first into the barricade. Batista now tosses Reigns shoulder first into the steel steps. Triple H connects with a spinebuster to Ambrose on the outside. Triple H and Batista toss Ambrose and Rollins face first into the ring post. Evolution tosses The Shield back in the ring. Orton starts stomping on the limbs of Reigns. Orton is now choking Ambrose in the corner with his foot. Triple H hits a big clothesline on Ambrose. Triple H goes for the pedigree on Ambrose, but Rollins hits a springboard knee to the face of Triple H. Ambrose and Rollins toss Batista and Orton out of the ring and Reigns hits a spear on Triple H. The Shield set up Triple H for the triple powerbomb, but Orton and Batista distract The Shield and Triple H bails out of the ring. We go off the air as Evolution backs up the ramp.
