This is a recap of OVW TV Episode 766 that will be aired in Louisville on 4/26 and is available online at http://www.ovwrestling.com/tv/766
We open with a clip from last week’s main event where Mohamed Ali Vaez DDTs Robert DeLuna for a cover but OUR OVW Official Josh Ashcraft has been distracted by Timmy Danger climbing on the apron. Dylan Bostic goes to hit Vaez with one of the tag title belts but gets kicked away. Adam Revolver runs out with a chair and takes aim at Bostic but inadvertently hits Vaez, causing him to get pinned.
Ashcraft is walking down a hallway and is stopped by Stephon J Baxter III, who asks him about his actions last week. Ashcraft mentions that he got fined then brushes off Baxter as he has to get to the ring.
After the show opening, we go to the announce table with OUR OVW Announce Team of Dean Hill, Gilbert Corsey and Michael Titus (who also will serve as OUR OVW Ring Announcer for tonight). As we press toward the 5/10 Saturday Night Special, Gilbert wonders about the tension between Vaez and Revolver. We also have triple threat match for the TV title and the tournament continues do determine the number one contenders for the tag team titles.
Match #1: J Best (w/Deanta Davis) vs Paredyse
Ashcraft is the ref here as Paredyse gooses Best. An irritated Best gets all up in Paredyse’s face only to get a nose lock followed by the Eyepoke of Doom! Best goes for one of his own but Paredyse blocks it and hits a second Eyepoke of Doom! Paredyse grabs Best in the biscuits and follows him around the ring before unleashing a flurry of offense. Davis reaches through and trips Paredyse, who grabs Davis by the dreads and pulls him up. Davis jumps down and yanks Paredyse’s arm over the top rope. Best lariats Paredyse as Gilbert says Paredyse will face a similar situation at SNS where he faces Rev. Stuart Miles and “Cameron” in a handicap match. Paredyse butt bumps free from a Best rear chinlock and chops on him. Best whips Paredyse to the corner and Davis grabs him but gets hit as Paredyse avoids the charging Best. Paredyse gives Best the “Kiester To The Kisser” followed by a flying butt and a neckbreaker for the pin.
Gilbert is a ringside with Vaez and asks if he thinks Revolver was aiming the chair at him or Bostic? Vaez says Bostic and DeLuna have been a thorn in his side plus he never asked for Revolver’s help but Revolver’s nose keeps getting stuck in his business. Vaez went to OUR OVW Owner “Nightmare” Danny Davis and asked for a match with Revolver, which was approved. Revolver comes out to protest but Vaez tells him “every time you watch my back, I end up on my back”! Revolver says that Danger International is getting more powerful and Vaez needs him, to which Vaez tells him he needs to warm up!
Match #2: “Party Starter” Bud Dwight vs OUR OVW Champion “Strongest Gamer Alive” Marcus Anthony (w/ Timmy “Rampage” Danger)
Dwight introduced as being from Party City USA! Jordan Barker is OUR OVW Official for this match. Anthony shoves Dwight into corners and beats on him before suplexing him followed by a couple of gamma punches. Danger calls on Anthony to lock up Dwight in the Crimson Omen and he obliges. Barker calls for the bell but sadly, no one channels Don Meredith and sings “Turn out the lights, the party’s over”
Gilbert is at ringside with Danger and Anthony. Danger says despite him being barred from ringside, nothing will stop Anthony from going into the cage at SNS and finishing off Jamin Olivencia. Gilbert mentions that this is Anthony’s first time in a cage but Anthony says that when he arrived in OVW, he was fresh out of the cage-the joint! Anthony’s message to Jamin is that this isn’t the zoo and when the cage doors close, Jamin is going to beg to never be in the cage with him!
Match #3: “The Teflon Don from Boca Raton” Eddie Diamond vs The Body Guy vs OUR OVW TV Champion Mr. Marvelous Melvin Maximus
Body Guy is out here alone this week. Gilbert says that Diamond and Body Guy were supposed to meet last weekend in Elizabethtown in a number one contender match, but the show got postponed to this weekend. Dean calls Body Guy a “hot mess”. OUR OVW Senior Official “Package” Chris Sharpe is in charge here as Body Guy attacks Melvin at the bell but then he gets attacked by Diamond. Body Guy gets worked over briefly by Diamond but pulls the top rope down, sending Diamond tumbling out to the floor. Melvin pulls Body Guy into the deadly bearhug and chalks up another victory! Who can stop the path of “Marvelous”??
Baxter is in the back with Danger International (Danger, Anthony, and OUR OVW Tag Team Champions “King of Pink” Dylan Bostic & “Mexicutioner” Roberto DeLuna). Danger says they will watch two idiots (Vaez and Revolver) beat each other up in the main event. Vaez comes over and tells Bostic, DeLuna, and Anthony that they are all on notice, as he will be coming for them after tonight. Danger asks Vaez just who does he think he is but Revolver interrupts, saying he’s here too! Vaez says he doesn’t need Revolver’s help, so a now-angry Revolver says he will see Vaez in the ring tonight! Danger says his group will just sit back and pick bones.
“Pastor of Disaster” Rev. Stuart Miles comes out followed by “Cameron” (who now has an official name of “Jay Dawson”). Miles says today’s good word is “conquer”, noting that everyone saw last week that he tried to be nice and helpful but some just don’t listen or want to be helped. Paredyse refused his help, so he learned that he will be conquered! Paredyse has overwhelming evil in his soul but the power within Miles is so much greater. The mic cuts out and a voice is heard saying “Hey idiot boy, this is God, your time is up!” Paredyse comes out and pulls Dawson between them then pulls Dawson’s robe over his head. Paredyse kicks Miles and grabs the Bible from him before dropping him with a right fist. Paredyse then bends Dawson over his knee and spanks him, using the Bible for the final lick.
Match #4: The Marauders (Shiloh Jonze & Raul Lamotta) vs Hicks With Sticks (Flash Flanagan & OUR OVW Director of Operations Trailer Park Trash)
Barker is the ref for this match in which the winners will face the Skywalkers (Robbie Walker & Aaron Sky) to become the number one contender for the tag titles. Hicks take turns on Lamotta early until he gives Flash the Eyepoke of Doom! Lamotta drags Flash over to the Marauder corner but Jonze refuses to tag in. Flash chops then drop toeholds Lamotta as TPT legdrops him. Jonze still won’t tag in but TPT grabs him which allows Lamotta to clobber TPT from behind. Jonze comes in legally and TPT gets roughed up in the Marauder corner. Jonze whiffs on a fistdrop and we get TAGS! Flash whips Jonze across but Jonze slides down to the mat and Lamotta hits Flash from behind. Lamotta grabs Flash and holds him as Jonze charges but Flash escapes and Jonze rams Lamotta! Flash hits a springboard legdrop on Lamotta for the pin and a shot at the Skywalkers! Flash and TPT touch their sticks (green and blue, respectively) together in celebration.
Jonze grabs the mic and rejoins Lamotta in the ring. Jonze says Lamotta really crapped the bed tonight, so it’s time for another round of consequences and repercussions. Jonze orders Lamotta to get on his knees but out comes Tony Gunn & “Marksman” Nick Dumeyer! Gunn calls Jonze a user and abuser, noting that he can see the look in Lamotta’s eyes that he’s tired of (what’s left of) the Marauders. Gunn invites Lamotta to stand with him and Lamotta walks to the corner. Jonze says Lamotta is not going to do that because he’s not a quitter plus his livelihood depends on the Marauders. Jonze tells Lamotta to state how much he loves being a Marauder. Lamotta says he hates being a Marauder and he quits, leaving the ring to stand with Gunn and Dumeyer (so this leaves Jonze and Clint Poe, who hasn’t been seen the past couple of weeks) Gunn says it’s time to cut the head off the snake once ands for all at SNS and challenges Jonze!
Match #5: Adam Revolver vs Mohamed Ali Vaez
Ashcraft is the ref here as Vaez slaps away a handshake from Revolver. Following initial lockups, Vaez blocks down Revolver, who ducks in the ropes. Out of a test of strength, Revolver pulls Vaez down for 2 but gets pulled into a headlock and held there for a bit, as he is unable to pull Vaez into a headscissors. Revolver backs Vaez to the corner and rams shoulder into he midsection. Vaez whiffs on a dropkicks but Revolver misses an elbow drop. Vaez goes for a neckbreaker but Revolver slips away and rolls out to the floor for some soul-searching. Back in, some armworking gets traded before Revolver reverse whips Vaez tot he corner, where Vaez leapfrogs but comes down awkwardly on his leg. Revolver pulls Vaez into a cover then targets that leg as we go to break.
Back from break, Revolver is still working that leg but can’t hold Vaez down for a three count. Gilbert compliments Ashcraft on his focus thus far during this match. Revolver misses a kneedrop and Vaez arises to throw some chops. Vaez’ knee buckles on a whip and Revolver goes back to work on the leg. Revolver locks in a figure four but Vaez eventually turns it over although Revolver grabs the ropes to break the hold. Vaez gingerly kicks Revolver’s leg and hits a belly to back suplex for 2. Revolver legsweeps for 2 but Vaez gets up and goes for a spinning toehold. Danger, Anthony, Bostic, and DeLuna all run out with Bostic handing Revolver a chair, which is used to whack Vaez with. Revolver covers Vaez for the pin then Danger International celebrates by Beating down Vaez as the show goes off.
THOUGHTS: Gilbert said they were “pressing” toward SNS but this show was more like “drifting” as nothing that surprising came out of this show. I expected Jonze to be left alone (with Poe?) in the Marauders, I wonder since Revolver (kind of as I expected) appears to have gotten a spot with Danger International, will Jonze end up with Miles & Dawson down the road? I did enjoy Paredyse’s match this week. Will Vaez really go this alone or will someone from the past show up and join in the fray? Sure would be nice to have some ladies on this show. Overall, this show wasn’t really too bad, I’ll give it a thumbs-just-a-hair-above-the-middle.
