Wrestlemania XXX Preview and predictions

wrestlemania 30

by Josh Givens

This Sunday, April 6th the WWE brings WrestleMania 30 to the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans. With more than 65 wrestlers on the card, Hulk Hogan as the host and the debut pay per view on the WWE network, it’s sure to make for an interesting evening.

There are seven matches scheduled, along with one match on the two hour pre-show. Let’s jump into the card…

Pre-show Fatal Four way for the WWE Tag Team Championship: Ryback & Curtis Axel vs Los Matadores vs The Real Americans vs The Uso’s

I scratch my head wondering why this isn’t just The Uso’s vs The Real Americans. Seems like that would be a much more legit title match. Why isn’t the Divas match on the pre-show? With that said I believe that this should be an awesome kick off to the night with plenty of good spots.

Prediction: I say Uce…you say O.

Kane & The New Age Outlaws vs The Shield

I wish I was one of HHH’s friends. I wish I could go to him and say “I want to wrestle The Shield at Mania” and he’d just say, “you got it.” I’d let The Shield beat me up on the grandest stage. It’s awful that this match was just thrown together with only a couple weeks of build. I still feel like this will be a solid match, and will solidify The Shield as baby faces.

Prediction: The Hounds of Justice

Single fall invitational for the WWE Divas championship:
AJ vs Naomi vs Cameron vs Brie Bella vs Nikki Bella vs Natalya vs Eva Marie vs Emma vs Aksana vs Alicia Fox vs Summer Rae vs Rosa Mendes vs Layla vs Tamina Snuka.

What can be said about this match? I know the divas work hard. I just hope it’s not a huge mess. My heart says Summer Rae, but my head says

Prediction: AJ retains

30 Man Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

30 Superstars in the ring all at once. A lot of people say that this is lazy booking, and just a way to get all the Superstars on the card. I like this idea. I think this could be a lot of fun. For the past few weeks they have been making Big Show look strong, which tells me he’s not winning. There are 27 Superstars confirmed, which should mean we’ll get a few surprise entrants.

Prediction: Not that I like it, but something tells me Sheamus is the winner.

Daniel Bryan vs Triple H

The build to this match (for me) has been great. It feels more important than the actual title match. The winner here will be entered into the World Heavyweight Championship match against Batista and Randy Orton. HHH and Stephanie have been awesome throughout the build to this match. Daniel Bryan needs a clean win here, and I think he’ll get it. I just hope this doesn’t overshadow the actual title match at the end of the night.

Prediction: Daniel Bryan

John Cena vs Bray Wyatt

One word describes Bray Wyatt…awesome. His promos on Raw and Smackdown have been nothing short of extraordinary. He scares my children. On the other hand, I’ve enjoyed John Cena’s work so far as well. For the first time in a long time I’m excited for a John Cena match. Wyatt will get baby face cheers throughout this match and a new star will be born.

Prediction: Bray Wyatt

The Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar

I understand how cool the streak is, and I respect it. I also know that it will never happen again. But I must say I’m growing tired of it. Taker is looking old. The build to this has been pretty vanilla, and for the most part made Brock look like a sissy. The match will more than likely be great, but I’m not as excited about it as I thought I would be.

Prediction: We all know Undertaker is winning this match

WWE World Heavyweight Championship:
Batista vs Randy Orton vs Winner of HHH/Daniel Bryan

We got a glimpse on Raw of what the original Mania main event would have been before punk walked out. Orton vs Batista would have been booed out of the building. At this point those two kind of seem like an afterthought.

Daniel Bryan is going to get a clean win over HHH. After the match HHH is going to take out Bryan, injuring him and questioning whether Bryan can make it back for the main event. I would love to see the match start with Orton and Batista, no Bryan. Let them go about five or ten minutes as the fans boo them out of the building.

Prediction: Daniel Bryan comes out bandaged head to toe, over comes the odds, eventually hits the running knee on Orton to be come the new champ. We leave WrestleMania 30 with the shot of 70,000 strong chanting YES!

From top to bottom the card is not the strongest, but I believe the fans are going to be so happy by the end it won’t matter in the least.

I myself cannot wait for WrestleMania 30! Thanks guys! Until next time…
